Well, I was thinking about using AI to help me with code and images, creating some "example" game, contributing the ideas I have, my style of writing... in short, a game that would be normal if it weren't for the AI issue... Is it a good idea to show what a good project could be like and from there, if the answer is positive, create a Patreon to be able to hire real people to handle the programming and art? It's a good idea, do you think? Excuse the poor text, English is not my native language.

If you can't do programming and/or art on your own, you are not very likely to be earn enough money to hire anyone, unless you come from a very rich family, in which case you don't need Patreon.

Long story short (and a little blunt): if you can't even begin to create your own game, you have very little chance to create one.

I really appreciate the comment and the quick response. Well... at the end of the day, that's what AI is there for, right? I mean, both the code and the art can temporarily be provided by AI, such as GPT Chat or other programs. Ultimately, what I want to share is my way of telling stories... so to speak, both in the layout of the "art" and in the game's narrative itself. If I can prove it's worthwhile... maybe I can gain enough support to get started seriously, right?

Not very likely. Behind every success story you know there is 99.9% ability to execute and 0.1% good idea(s). You should focus on your agility to execute; There are more good ideas than grains of sand on the beach.

Learn to code and or/learn to draw (or to use a 3d software), otherwise your dream is not likely to come to light. Good luck.

Learning to use AI will take longer, than learning how to write basic program yourself. Most porn VN games are primitive: their code is showing images with some text and branches when user clicks dialog button. It works like a book, where you can skip some chapters, thats all. No complex data structures, no realtime rendering, no world simulation of any kind.

About art: AI can only make sloppy variations of images, that it was trained on. I'd prefer to use some 3D editor with default models, thankfully nowdays many of them are free and user-friendly.

Of the 9,000-ish adult game developers on Patreon, of those on the site for more than a year, approximately 2,000 do not even have 1 paid subscriber. Of the remaining ones who have paid subscribers - half of them earn less than $100USD per month after 4 years.

You could get lucky - but only about 20% of the ones with paid subscribers make more than $1000 per month (before credit card transaction fees and money conversion fees, and taxes - don't forget taxes).

You should really only develop if you have a passion to tell a story that you yearn to tell and you shouldn't expect to make anything. In fact, you should expect to spend a lot of time (hundreds, if not thousands, of hours per year) with little or no earnings... Unless you are dedicated for a long time (years) and have a little bit of luck.

And, no, you should not count on ChatGPT to write code - sure, it can give you ideas on how to overcome a problem you don't know how to code for -- but then you should write the code yourself. One day something will break (or many things) and it will be because ChatGPT isn't the best code writer and you learn nothing by copying and pasting from it.

This sounds like something that will lead to disappointment.

I suggest learning art or coding and going from there with an idea, but not relying on AI as much to do it all. And don't go into it with nothing more than the hope that your idea will net you money from Patreon. Do it for free, see if it clicks, and who it resonates with. If you have a hit, hit up Patreon.

or just finish something smaller and put it on Itch.io and see what happens.

Wow, I honestly didn't expect to have so many responses. I'm very grateful, and I think you're right. I have to rethink a few things about the project I wanted to do. Fortunately or unfortunately, I don't lack time, maybe money, haha, but I have time. I'll take this more calmly. Seriously, thank you very much. I hope I can bring you something in the future that you consider worthy. Warm regards, and take care wherever you are.
