Exactly.

This is why I firmly believe that if nothing changes, the number of adult games is going to drop off of a cliff and we'll be back to the 1990's desolation.

Depending on the direction this goes, non-porn games will also be impacted and screwed over. It all became magically subjective to what a group of people like and don't like.

I want you to get funding and be paid for what you produce, but if that can't happen I don't expect people to work for nothing. Passion doesn't pay the bills.
i think that both adult and non adult games will continue to rise in numbers, but in number, NOT in quality

i guess that will be more and more games as it's easier to produce games, but the quality will be.... lacking (see a lot of ai games, movies, images, you name it that appeared lately).

and because adult is attacked from all sides and non-adult well... it;s hard to build a game anyway, a game that's actually good i mean good games (the few t hat will remain) will be hidden by shitty games.

so i think we will be flooded with AI shit left and right. I really hope that I'm wrong.

Somehow I feel like you're not keeping up with current events. :ROFLMAO:

Two weeks ago I would have agreed with you because the cost to entry for skills keeps lowering, especially with better AI.

However today the trajectory is entirely different because people are currently dealing with the issue of paying and being paid for their work. If that problem isn't corrected, games will drop off a cliff because the money factor isn't there, and the passion for making a game isn't always going to be high enough to get it done.

Remove the money, you are left with passion. As you see, that passion has limitations.

I could check what I've "spend" on you. I don't think it will cover Daz or your PC and by big margin obviously not your health cost. Yet, still here as many, I assume others.
What I do find it crazy is that today the can be totally happy with you and tomorrow your delisted and have your account banned, cause they updated their rules and now fuck you and your money.

Also I do hope my friend that something change for the better and revert some of the more idiotic ridiculous things that happen. And that at some time will see 18+ games in video game console stores (after age verification or similar).
Obviously, still hopping that at one day you can have your on Steam, Itch, ... and earn a "few" bucks more.

PS:
You forgotten: WaLkTrOuGh?!?
Oh god, the classic: "Is there a walkthrough?" Ugh... the stuff of nightmares!

I too hope for things to change for the better, for me, for all of you and for the other creators out there who's future work and goals are hanging in the balance.

For me, I've been blessed, you've been with me since the beginning, my friend and there really is NO AMOUNT OF MONEY that can replace you or those like you (Twistty, DA22, Forix, Haast, Ennoch, Solomon Grundy, Avaron1974, Knight_of_the_lance, Maviarab, Catwashere, yltohawk, Ayhsel and so many more), who have been by my side since day one and have patiently waited and supported me in more ways that just financially, which is one of the REAL REASONS that despite... what... 4 spinal surgeries and 1 shoulder rebuild surgery, that I am still here, still working and trying.

Also to keep my word which I gave all of you, day one. :giggle:

As for the censorship that is taking place, I think I will be safe and have... ideas... on how I can circumvent the crackdown and still earn some money... but, yeah, just got to keep on rolling!! ;)

unfortunately there are a lot who just give up
no so much money, people are always not happy etc
Yeah, it is unfortunate, as they seemed to underestimate the work, time and cost involved.

Others who are sensitive creatives who had their passion crushed by insensitive douche' bags who seem to find it fun to nit-pick things on stuff that they get for free and others still who badger inexperienced creators into changing their games to the point that it is no longer the story that they wanted to tell.

Some who've given up because of health issues (sort of like I have), others whose families found out what they were doing, spouses or girlfriends (I am fortunate that my family and wife know what I do and the wife helps me in it)... but so many reasons out there on why they left... leaving their fans and supporters hanging.

I anticipate that the fallout of Itch.io and Steam in regard to C.C. processors and stuff will have a sweeping effect on adult games (and non-adult games) and will really be felt here... troubling times....

1.) Server acquisition, on/off site maintenance, bandwidth costs and such, I'd suggest speaking with @badtimetales as I know that he is in that business and can point you in the right direction or even possibly help set you up if needed... he is a damn good guy and personal friend.

I was in that business for a few decades, but the almighty cloud had changed everything.
While I still would choose a bare metal solution and a collocation, a cloud has it's positive sides, like scalability, backups and a few other things.
In the end it will cost more than a dedicated bare metal hosting, but with less time needed to manage it.
Somebody installing, configuring and watching it is needed in both cases.

Anything with AI i just skip, everyone with the smallest understanding in art instantly recognizes that AI art, music and writing absolutely no soul (it's stealing from other people and meshing it together afterall) and i dont think AI art is getting much better than what we already have - it's much more a tool than anything else, and it gets things wrong all the time, specially considering how much energy and processing power it takes and keeps increasing - so it's likely a bubble is going to burst eventually.

Either way, it's very likely this whole thing will fall apart in a couple years anyway, either that or alternative payment like cryptocurrency will be used primarly to purchase adult games, specially if somehow gets easier. Visa and Mastercard can stop you from buying anime titties, but they cant stop you from buying crypto to buy anime titties.

Best way to garantee survival of a platform like that is to adhere to Nostr. The most resilient protocol out there. There are many mod sites built on it.

if you only do this for profit, then you can use AI and just agree with whatever stupid standard visa and mc keep vomiting

that's why i think the good projects will be gone :(

ai voices are ok..ish for an indie project, NOT AAA
ai is good for a mockup for an image ... and that's it.

i agree probably even with this bans, some stores (maybe this one?! ) will feel the gap and people will just switch to crypto etc... it will be hard, it will mean some projects will, unfortunately, die, but they can't stp it. they just forced us to look for an alternative that doesn't involve visa and mc (at least not directly because they can't stop us from buying crypto).

They went after Detroit Become Human also but failed any game that has sex, drugs, killing children and women or abuse of women and children even for the story purpose is not safe.
the problem is that as an indie game dev (sfw or nsfw) you are much more vulnerable. they can't ban GTA, because the backlash will be BIG + lawsuits etc... and they will fuck up. but an indie game...... (that's why they go after porn, and not game of thrones, well that's also kind of a porn ,but still :) )
and you make a game, work x years on it, and when you want to publish it, you found out that what you have is out of the question because visa change what the allow one month ago... and you are fucked!

And on what basis is your claim? They can, I would bet on that. The only question is, do they want to do that.

from what i understand some states (US included) bought reserves in crypto. if they don't want to loose LOADS of money, they will NOT do that.
at least until all of us are properly trained to accept whatever shit the states throw at us

Wow, I'm extremely flattered. Sure, I've been around for a while, but I really don't post all that often, so the fact that you include me in a list like that is touching. Thanks for that.

And, for the record, I've stuck around because I love your work. Keep doing your thing, my dude.
