Impressive game, well worth the time.
It's been a few years since having played this, but it's one of those 'difficult to forget' ones.
Story - Ambitious af. It's like someone took every single possible theme they wanted to touch on and mashed them all together... and somehow it works. It's actually amazing. I wasn't sure I'd keep buying in after the first big narrative shift, but man was the entire thing ever a page-turner.
Gameplay - Overall decent, but does unfortunately fall into some of the usual pitfalls of the genre. The grinding aspect isn't actually that bad compared to some similar games, but it does exist. Battles themselves are alright, but sadly not as interesting as they first appear. I never really hated playing them or anything, but there were certainly times where long stretches of fights could throw off the pacing of the story.
Scenes - Solid enough. The positive is that this game hits on a lot of different emotions and all of the H scenes really reflect that. The negative(?) is that it also sticks with many of the older H-game character tropes and fetishes, some of which may be tiresome to those who have seen them played out dozens of times.
Music - Have to give a special note here. A decent chunk of the music is pretty standard VN/RPG stuff that works well enough, but some tracks... well, it's like they handed some outdated recording software to a musical genius and had them go ham. A few tracks set an unforgettable mood.
Overall, while not a perfect game or anything, the story and atmosphere are far enough ahead of the curve to warrant recommending highly for anyone who enjoys those things as much as they might the 'scenery'.
