anyone have any ideas on why some of her nails would be black like that? as they aren't suppose to be.

Are they nails that came with model? Or did they come from a different one? Have you tried any other nails, and if so, is it doing it with other ones?
Have you tried right clicking on them selecting them and going to posing - all and adjust the scale slider to see if that helps? I have seen hairs that do some weird things but using the scale option usually fixes it.
