You can press "A" to see if they have any effects besides increasing stats by a flat amount.

Do remember to apply the patch instead of just extracting and running.

For the TL: It's... okayish, if I'm allowed to rate myself. Other SEQUEL series players have sweeped over the game several times, putting up suggestions and changes to dialogue to tie in to previous games. And there are things they've praised me for, and things they've completely grilled me for as well. Just today I added a fix to an obscure game-breaking crash that I somehow didn't catch, so do make sure to apply the patch.
