(MOD) Regenerated and edited all map backgrounds (new art-style)

The new backgrounds are much better than the og ones, now the game feels like more like a remake!
Now we just need Night-Fly Pregnancy, Swamp Leeches stuck on Leah's Boobs after exposed encounter and new areas, stuff to do and new content!.

wtf, did they ''fix'' and ''improve'' and ''upgraded'' the backgrounds with AI or why does it look like garbage now.

Please consider adding an option between old backgrounds and new backgrounds.

This is also something that appeared a few times on the Itch topic for suggestions and ideas, so we might have to consider mind break scenes. Perhaps the base for any other game overs we add.

That is some good material, a shame indeed we are not allowed to use these images so far, however, they can still serve as inspiration for when we start planning the scenes with the new artist.

Understandable that some people do not like the new backgrounds, but the previous one were already generated by AI ;).

I think the new ones have the "AI jank" more noticeable because they use sharp flat colors with strong shadows, while the other images were like photo-realistic with a pastel filter that blurred the details, so even after we've made some edits, they do require more work.

We are putting some good hours in cleaning the backgrounds, then reducing color saturation and doing some passes with image noise reduction, to retain the most of the style as possible, while grounding them a bit. With luck, everyone may enjoy the edits on version 1.25 :).

Aside from remaking the backgrounds, what is planned for future updates? Since catching up with the OG game, there is no roadmap anymore, so no things to look forward to. what is the next thing you are working on?

The BGs I think are fine, but maybe make them a bit darker and less cartoony so they fit the rest of the game more. I like that now the buttons align with the BG picture, so for example the exit button is near the door.

Thanks for the feedback, indeed the background will have a slight heavier tune with just a de-saturation of the colors, and some minor adjustments, I've shared the new beach on Itch, but I'll also share it here for the comparison of how they are impacted by the changes.

The only updates somewhat defined for now are:

Version 1.25 (this could be the last unused scenes being added to the game, depending on 1.35)
  • Sea Tongue scene (name courtesy of ms.mintus, who's now helping us with edits to the scene images)
  • Green Cicada scene (which we're still struggling with the context in which the scene will appear)
  • Cleaning of the backgrounds and other small items (quick save/load feature will also be added)
Version 1.30 (the one and only pregnancy update)
  • Persistent pregnancy system, with belly stages on Leah's portrait and "time" based birth (actually more like nursery system, because she's nursing the insects' eggs)
  • 1 Birth scene will be added, which I'll keep the context secret for now, but the CGs already exist ;)
Version 1.35 (this one will probably be decided when we finish 1.30)
  • X-ray added to Leah's portrait on status window for the pregnancy system
  • Now where things get murkier, either the Dragonfly scene enters here or we'll start adding new scenes for new enemies, and this requires some additional prep work. We have not yet planned thus far, so we're leaving the decisions and idea dive for when we get near this update.

I dislike the Cicada because of the constant loud brain grating sound it does. I hope sound effects of another cicada will be dialed down. Or a button to mute the screeches.

can we get a 1.5x speed? i feel thats the sweet spot between the current 1x speed and the 2x speed, and feels more like the speed of the original cardwirth game

I agree, the sounds of the Cicada are extremely loud, even for testing I have to set the game's volume to 10% and the speakers to about 50%.

I'll try and reduce the noise of the Cicada sound effects. I'm not an audio expert, but Audacity as a loudness normalization filter, so perhaps playing around with that can help. I didn't want to simply negatively amplify the sound, because some of the Cicada effects have Leah's voice or slimy sounds mixed, and if you do an absolute gain reduction, these other sounds mixed in will also disappear or get very low, so this has to be done with some more specific tooling or technique.

There might be easier ways that I do not know as well :LOL:.

Would it be possible to upload the sound files somewhere so I (we) can try to separate the screeching from the voice or reduce the volume of the screeching and send the edited files back to you?

Or we dub the scenes ourselves. Finding cicada sounds shouldn't be a problem and then a female fan might moan over it to mimic Leah's voice.

That would be quite helpful :), and now that you mention, some of the sounds are merges of other sounds effects as well, while some are the cicada effect isolated, albeit not always as sometimes the plain cicada effect comes with an additional slimy effect.

Here is a link for the Cicada sound effects plus the other sounds that were identified in them ( ). I did not verify if they are correct as there are many moan and slime effects, but I've tried to keep the naming from the original as much as possible, so it should be near. I think moan02a+ is wrongly named as it has the Cicada sound in it, just as a warning.

For low hanging fruit, are you still considering rewrites for the Fly consent/defeat scenes?

Hi! I generally like how the game is evolving, and it's interesting to see how various elements are being improved and refined.
Thank you especially for adding Russian, which is not perfect, but it makes reading much easier.)
But I was wondering if there are any more MindBreak scenes planned. I really enjoyed the only one in the game, but I would love to see more of them with other enemies.
Will they be added in the future, and do you have any plans for them, or are you currently more focused on other aspects?

Disappointing. She got so lewd she wants eggs but never fucking lays a single insect. The grind factor to farm for material and keep getting the wrong enemy is boring as shit.

The game gets very boring quick. When you fight 8 roaches to get one dog beast for pelts. Every area is like this and gets really boring quickly. Useless material like sedatives did nothing it was a waste of material. Eventually you get sword and you can just about cake walk the game with just melee attacks. The strategy is broken as fuck as it says use push against guard but if you do you will always fail it ended up being guard against guard to stun the mob.

I deleted it after 2 hours I had enough of this game there is nothing to keep you interested in this game.
