First of all, I'm not a modder, nor do I have any good experience with modding games, so this will mostly just be my view of the game (InZoi) and its future adult modding community. I bought inZoi on discount, and it's actually not bad for an early access open-world and simulation game. It's not quite that immersive yet, but let's be patient here. The game itself is going to receive many upcoming updates (usually patches), so modding would be quite a hassle, right? But there are a couple of things that make me feel both optimistic and pessimistic at the same time about the future of this game modding community (especially adult modders). I've read the terms of service (ToS) and Mods Policy posted on the inZoi website. Cmiiw, the company didn't prohibit any specific type of mod that might be produced, especially pornography. It was only stated in the ToS that pornography should not be produced with the help of the game's AI service. However, it was stated that the company had the right to remove or restrict it if it was: illegal, harmful, offensive, excessively explicit, misleading, or otherwise violated the policies (pornography can be considered all of that by some). But again, they said:
"The Company has no obligation to monitor the use or sharing of any Mods and it assumes no liability in relation to such activities"
Which is, kind of funny...i think. In other words, those kinds of mods can or may be produced as long as the company doesn't find out about them (right?), or i'd like to think if there was no negative impact from it. So, yeah, I assume it's just going to be nsfw community vs "safe" community in the future (you know who's gonna win this one). The problem? It was this sentence:
"Mods cannot change, reproduce or otherwise alter the Game code, object code, source code or the internal structure of the Game’s software or related Services."
For me, i'd like to think they said that because the game itself is still in the development stage. In my view, hard-coded mods might impact the game development process and user experience, which could affect public reviews of the game. However, (pls cmiiw again) the inZoi 2025 Roadmap indicates that script modding support will be added later this year, which means that there may be some new open discussions about this topic again in the future (here or out there). I'd like to believe that the company may change those strict policies in the future, if it can benefit both parties. The second problem is that the company didn't want any mods to be paywalled, and those mods would likely be claimed as "company rights" as stated in the ToS and and Mods Policy. Which means this could be disastrous for some modders (right?). However, they still allow users to donate and support the modders. I just hope that all good and/or hardcore modders are not going to give up on this game, especially those who have already invested their time and effort into modding it (or trying to mod it). For now, I'd like to be patient and play the game with what the base game and modders currently offer, while trying to learn a thing or two about modding this game.
