I've spent so many hours tinkering with Skyrim and other games before developing my own game. I think a part of me who likes to spend hours and hours doing mundane tasks breaking code, creating something new, and testing to make it work helps a lot with game making.

Game Development is better powered by Disappointment.
So if you think all games here are trash and developers are doing things wrong and you can do a better job yourself that would be better motivation than just liking something and being inspired by it, although that is also a legitimate way.
Being Disappointed would also mean you are sufficiently Different enough and that can help you out to stand out from the sea of other projects.
Of course the actual results might not be as special as you think, but this is more about the Motivation to get you through a Project.

The Good thing about Porn Games is there are a lot of Niches and Fetishes that you can use to be Disappointed by.
Sounds like depression :BootyTime:

Not a Dev but some observations from being a member here for 2-3 years.

I think you should go in clear eyed that the chances are people will shit on your game. No matter how good it is. They will shit on it. You'll need a thick skin. They will call you lazy, a milker, and other shit.

Also don't do choices. 50% of people will shit on your game for no choices but another 50% will also shit on your game if you have choices b/c they don't get to see 100% of the content in one play through. If you are going to lose 50% of your potential fan base lose the 50% asking for choices. It is a lot less work.

I agree with the first part (what you said is si sadly true, almost unbelievable)

But I totally disagree with the last part. That's nonsense in my opinion. I never saw anyone complaining about choices but about the lack of choices. Maybe you're talking for yourself only.

Nope, I like choice. I see ton of people complaining about not seeing content on one play through.

Also there wouldn't be a high demand for walkthroughs if people wanted choice. Every game people ask for walkthroughs.

There's walkthroughs for basically every game created (not just porn games). Just the nature of it all but that's half the fun. Someone has to create those walkthroughs. It adds to the adventure and playability of the game. In my eyes there's a fine line between overwhelming the player with choices and not providing enough. They have to feel that they are actually making an impact on the game but still let it be story driven. I think thats that sweet spot where your going to attract your biggest fan base. That and of course the type of contact thats actually in your game.

The way I see it is that there is no reason not to try it.
If you have an idea for a game or want to put something out there the go for it.
