Is the golden age over?

I'm trying to bring back that excitement everyone is talking about with my new game. It's called Rocking Robin. Yes it is only V.02 but I think it has more content then most games of it's build version. I too played a lot of games on here and was amazed by some of the story's and animations until they started to be the same story over and over and the effort was less and less.

Last year when I found this site, I was blown away at all the great games that were interesting to me. Occasionally, there were some outliers with futa/trans, beast/monster/furry, female protag, and gay. I figured someone had to cater to those tastes, so whatever. But as the year has passed and months have gone by, it feels like the outliers are now becoming the mainstream of content. Every day when I go to look at updates, most of them fit into one or more of these categories.

Now, I'm not trying to disparage anyone for what they like and I'm perfectly fine with those games being made. I just feel like the content that originally was being produced has started to become the outlier and fewer in number. Has the general populace's tastes really changed that much so quickly? At this rate, I feel like there won't be much reason to look for those types of games I loved so much. I'll just move on, and things will go back to what they were before I found this site. Am I the only one that has seen the latest trend? Or am I way off base?

well.. Personally i almost only play the female protag games if i can help it.. so many male protags end up beeing so... so.. same-y? predictable?.. ach who knows.. mind you i am biased as i love female protags in everything.. movies.. games.. reading.. lol. We all have our kinks afterall.

that said.. i agree with one of the upper ones too, with the huge amount of 0.0.0.0.1 games and such. games that barely has a title screen finished lol. you learn to just skip by em as you browse.. not even worth looking at the premise at that stage really.

Tho i still think this is by far the best site on the internet for adult games. hell one of thee few that still have some of the more off brand kinks even,. like incest and such. some incest games are great .

Nobody wants to get their 30 day chip, in gamer's anonymous. Don't burn out your favorite (genre) . Switch it up a bit. Do a little of this, and a little of that.
Try some flash games or 2d this week. Dive back into 3D VR next week, then give it a rest.

To me and just by looking around at how well the top devs are doing in terms of number of fans/money, I think its obvious we are seeing the start of a market. Not sure what to even call it, Western Adult games or western vns but hell just look at this new kickstarter game called Subverse, its killing it and is just starting up. Imo the consumers are ready and in big numbers, we just need more skilled devs and things might start getting crazy.

If you mean golden era of lonely Devs making 2 or 3 games with discutable quality. Yes this era definitelly ended. What comming slowly now is more complex and better made games. But it's goying really slowly, because gaming community is not fully ready for this. Because majority still looking to the past, not to the future.

And to be honest One thing is what Fan's of the games wants and second is what supporters of devs wants.

If you mean golden era of lonely Devs making 2 or 3 games with discutable quality. Yes this era definitelly ended. What comming slowly now is more complex and better made games. But it's goying really slowly, because gaming community is not fully ready for this.

I think this one hits the nail on the head.

We used to have more or less ok-ish fap games, which were relatively easy to make. But the acceptance standard has gone way up, both in terms of story and (especially) visuals. The problem however is that the market has become fragmented, there are many devs trying to take a small piece of more or less the same pie. So costs have risen while profits dropped. Unfortunately it's a tough market at the moment, where many devs don't make enough to be sustainable. But going back to the quality we used to be pleased with a couple of years ago is also not going to happen. I think one of the key things to do now is to consolidate the efforts as a team, with a writer, a coder and an artist, and hope that the profits will be sufficient to sustain three people. Or accept a smaller income for a while.

I think this is a genre where the players can burn out a bit now and then. So the devs have to keep things fresh and exciting. Lol sounds like marital sex! Changing things up and/or doing the basics really well are what seems to work. Milfy City changes up one or two conventions of the genre and does most things really well. Summertime Saga executes well fairly consistently. Newer games try different things and get results.

That's exactly what I think, that's why I make games for fun, it works as experience and maybe a kind of portfolio for the future? I do have a writer a coder and a artist, the bad part is that the 3 of them are the same person

I think most of us expecting more than "Hey guys. I'm making a game. You are a male teenager, living with your mother and two sisters, and your father just died.."
(seriously, I'll drink full bottle of vodka every time I see new game with this plot)
And there's not so many 'futa, gay or bestiality' games... It's really hard to find good game with these tags.
I'll give away two incest games for one with bisexual female MC (or bisex male)

Recently theres a lot of new games with NTR tag. (Unfortunately for me) It seems like it's very popular genre now..

I hope I get a free pass because I wanted to start with the popular cliches but then do something different.
