One of lifes unwritten rules ... you are NEVER the only one.

There are certain games i'm waiting to be finished until I play.

Darkness Falls and Coming to Grips with Christine by Tlero and Moertze. I don't like heavily story based games in small doses, I spend too long waiting for the next one and they used to release full games. They recently moved to monthly releases but i'm waiting.

There are others. The boarding school one by the dev of My Girlfriends Amnesia. He dabbles in content I don't like so waiting until the games finished to find out if it's avoidable or not.

Melody. DmD has been dragged out for a hell of a long time and, according to what i've read, has 2 more chapters to go so won't be finished this time of 2020. I have my doubts this will ever be finished so i'll wait.

I don't hate animation, I hate NTR. Waiting to see if it's optional and avoidable all the way through before I play it.

Made that mistake with MGA, not again.

I'm waiting a for a lot of them to reach the blessed 1.0 :FeelsBadMan:, although it's mainly because i'm lazy and/or the updates are disappointing.
These games are my most notable examples: The Last Sovereign, Something Unlimited, Seeds of Chaos, Claire's Quest.

- TLS: great game and too big for its good, the updates don't disappoint, i'm just afraid of spoiling my fun by playing bits of it instead of the completed game on its full glory.
- SU: good game, but i find myself dissatisfied with the updates and the negligence of some girls.
- SoC: good game, but i'm more interested in the story and the corruption development for the main characters, which i didn't see much advancement for now.
-CQ: game with comissioned artwork, handful of cgs per update and RPGM, meh! i'm too lazy for that, better wait for the full game.

The only game i play each update is Kingdom of Deception, because i know i won't end up blueballed.

Funny because I stopped playing KoD after few updates. Could you leave your thoughts in my thread?

Alot of these games are episodic and have no intention of reaching a completion.
Don't think of the games as incomplete, think of it as chapters. You are robbing yourself of some of the greatest games on the site. Four elements trainer, Dreams of desire, dating my daughter, something unlimited. They all have large amounts of content, way more than you will find in a "complete" game.

It is just that the authors don't see a reason for the flow to stop.

Every game or visual novel and their different variants, develops at different paces, depending on the author/developer/creator making it... Some of them are milked for donations, from what I consider misguided paying fans... Some are just slow developing, due to various real life factors and/or developer skill... Some are quick to develop, using the money they get to produce better and faster developed products...

My preferences typically revolve around story based visual novel/games with an even amount of porn scenes/visuals but I don't mind if they lean towards more story then sex stuff, depending on the VN/Game... But of course, too much of an imbalance is in itself also annoying... There are also some grind style games that focus more on the sex stuff over the story, but at least some story elements are there, that I might also enjoy... If it's just all about the porn, and no story hardly at all, then I tend to refrain from those... If all I wanted was sex visuals and so on, I could go do a Google search for all the free porn the world has to offer...

As to actual examples of games I am waiting on full completion before playing them... Not really sure I have one... I do find myself, as time goes on, having the desire to wait for longer periods of time before revisiting visual novels and/or games I've already tried as they are developing... My preference would be to play complete VN/Games, especially ones I enjoy, and even more if they have various story endings to experience... But those are hard to come by sometimes... And I think that, sometimes, has to do with the plethora of unfinished works that are taking their sweet time to get to a state of completion... Is that due to milking, or just slow development, or just because the developers can't seem to end it and move on to the next project? It is probably a mix match of all that and then some...

If I see a developer is taking a long while to work through a project, like as in a year or longer... And the money they are receiving as Donations is pretty significant, and not commensurate to the development quality and speed, then of course I usually suspect full on milking, and will avidly avoid that work from there on out, regardless if it was fun or not... I don't support greed, with my money or my attention...

Of course, everyone would love to see their favorite projects get done as quickly as possible, so they can get their fun on... But it is the nature of this amateur based industry, to take a lot of time to get stuff done, most of the time... Would I wait a year or more before even playing this genre of game or visual novel? Most likely not... Regardless how good it is... That's a long time to hold out for something that may or may not even be worth the wait... I'ld rather play something already finished, or try something new and touch bases with it again every few months... Will that always be the case for me? Just depends on what I'm willing to do or not to do at the time... For now, that's been checking back every so often for VN/Games that I found I enjoyed, or I'm willing to give a second chance to... That could change in the future or it might not... Just have to wait and see...

When I first started getting into these types of visual novels/games, DMD was one of the first I experienced... And I really enjoyed it up until it's first chapters cliffhanger ending... When it came to playing the 2nd part, at a later date, my feelings sort of changed about DMD at that moment... Mostly because the 2nd part felt like it was doing a bit of regressing, and back-pedaling, as far as some of the characters personality growth and development... It's at that moment I felt the sting of it milking... The 2nd part doesn't have that same flair and feeling that the first part did... It feels more drawn out and slow moving then before, and that stems a lot from that regressed feeling the primary characters began to have... This isn't the place to review DMD, but lets just say that it felt like the daughter's character wasn't growing and learning from her experiences and the assurances continuously given to her in the 1st part... She felt even more unsure of herself and her sexuality in the beginning of the 2nd part, even after her father reunited with her... And he still needed to constantly reassure her, even though they fully had sex already in part 1... Why do that, unless you plan to milk the story...

In any case, lets not de-rail this particular topic... Feel free not to respond to my thoughts about DMD as it currently stands...

There are a few games I would like to see the end of, but I'm not willing to ignore them until they've reached their final ending... That is just far too long to wait... These things are not like waiting for a new Steven King novel, or new Harry Potter Universe book... You are presented with these stories and games early on, teasing you into wanting more, if you enjoyed it... I don't like to feel strung along, so I don't worry much about waiting an eternity to see if it is gonna be disappointing or wonderful... Because waiting to be disappointed, is just disappointing... :)

I'ld rather just experience it in increments, and if it takes a turn for the worse, then I just stop playing/reading it... No time wasted worrying about it anymore...

Personally, I tend to wait for a game to be completed before touching it. I still follow the game as it's developed through the creator's Patreon and the forum and see for myself how the game is going along. If it seems like there's a good amount of updates that are also consistent in quality, I might check it out before the game is completed.

Episodic games are a different matter. I'll try and check out each episode as they release. But for other games that are just building up to 1.0, I like to hold off. I'm not too big a fan of waiting for the next update to give me the next part of the game. Especially since I don't have as much free time as I used to, I'd rather wait for a game to be complete or nearing completion to play through it than wait for one update, then the next, and so forth.
