I sort of understand what you're trying to say, and I thank you for the suggestions... Alas, I like the format I use... I usually start off with a very brief couple sentences, then go over visuals, then go into detail on the script and what the main story may be about and what type of protagonist is being used... Then I go into various details about my experience with the game, to sometimes include game play mechanics and so forth... Then I summarize my thoughts and feelings about the game overall, the story elements, things I hate and/or liked, mention if it is still in development or not, and then I usually end with the likelihood of me doing a revisit or playing it again...
The Star score I go with is based on my overall feelings and thoughts about the overall experience of playing the game... I don't do a bunch of separate scores and then average them out... Averaging out scores doesn't always sum up the overall experience together as a whole... If the visuals were superb, yet everything else about the game was a horrible experience, then for me it should be a 1 star experience, not a bunch of 1's then throw in a 5 and average it out... Because then it wouldn't be a true score of the overall experience... It would just be some average score that got skewed by one good aspect of the game, when overall it was not that great of a game to play... I hope that makes sense, as trying to do self analysis of ones own system can sometimes not get the whole point/s across when trying to type it all out...
In the end, and I even place a warning in the very beginning, I write my reviews based on my own personal opinion of the experience of both reading and playing the visual novel/game that I'm reviewing... Being as honest as I can, knowing full well, that not everyone will agree with it... That's why it's a personal opinion... I know full well, that some folks will like or even love stuff I disliked and/or hated... That is what reviews are for, to gather together various differing opinions of a given subject/item/game/movie/etc... And then to use that information along with other sources of information to gauge for ones self if it's worth giving it a go or not... And I like to be thorough...

i liked my Girlfriends Amnesia... untill the last update, i would have finished it bit different, but i heard there will be a follow up due to the good ending ( i hope )
DmD is ok, but look at Melody, the first chapter was great in my opinion, a lot of content,good character build, and not some horn dog chasing tail.
Waifu Academy is a long story based on revenge instead of creating a harem for fun,he has his reasons .
Wicked Choices, Coceter Chronicles , and a few more that i cant remember the name of ( rpgm ,war ,travel island bla bla )

I've been in this site long & play lotsa games ... I don't understand porn-games-story's or any shit like that. Also self proclaim by developer who said their game is story driven than porn ... :idontcare: ... what do you want anyway OP ?
What I do understand, that there's only 5% of these games are finished & can be reviewed. It's quality or how much the comparison between it's story driven or more sex driven.
95% of games ... Dev ... finish your job then self proclaim your games is this or that type/genre. :tf:

Zippity, this is a pretty good write up of the "industry," I'd say. In the past you gave my game a less than excellent review. I was wondering if the progress we've made has changed your mind at all. I think that I'm writing a pretty good story, and while it is explicit at times, I think that's par for the course with adult/porn/erotic games.
If you haven't given it a shot in a few months, check it out. I'd be curious to see what you think now.
Oh... forgot about this thread! My game recently came out. It's gonna be heavy on the sexual content, sure, but the story itself is going to unfold as a Thriller with a lot of character development and interesting twists and turns. It just started, but please take some time, check it out, link in signature.

Both brilliant games with good looking characters too, would really highly recommend, My Girlfriend's Amnesia is the only RPGM Game I've played to the end as I normally get bored, but that had me hooked.
