Is this the new game trend?

Is AI-generated image NTR where the girlfriend texts her partner just the new trend now? It feels like every other day there's either a new game or updates in the genre. Kinda feels like it came out of nowhere.

(PS: Yes, I know NTR is popular, I don't get it, but you do you. It's this specific genre and its recent boom that surprised me.)

Yeah.
It takes no effort to create a game like that, and it feels and reads like most of these games are written by some AI too...
(I like myself enough to not torture myself by checking all of those low effort games)

There is a bit to unpack here.

A trend? Perhaps. Although like DAZ, Blender, etc. rendering was a "trend"...until it wasn't. That is, as technology progresses, developers see it as a tool to bring their creations to life and if there is enough interest in the outcomes it will cease to be a "trend" and just become a means to create. We need to think beyond the smaller corner of F95 (and other Adult VN sites) and realize that AI is here to stay and every day there are new AI Image and Story Generation websites and applications popping up. The personal preferences of an individual has very little impact on whether the us AI for image generation will stay or go away. It comes down to exactly that - whether an individual likes AI art or not doesn't matter beyond that individual. Plainly put, people should look at it as a choice. You like AI art? Fine. You don't like AI art? Fine. It is all a matter of personal taste and aesthetics.

I will admit the Phone/Texting VNs are most likely a trend and, if I am being honest, I am surprised it hasn't happened sooner. As sexting, AI, and the use of Social Media has been on an extremely fast growth pace since 2012, the old adage applies: "Art imitates art" I believe you will see even more of them as time goes on...until the next trend pops up.

Regarding NTR/NTS...what's the question here? This, like any other fetish/kink, is strictly a matter of personal preference. You like it? Fine. You don't like it? Fine. As an example: When I log into F95 and enter the "Latest Updates" page, a good 80% of the Game/VN threads are greyed out as ignored for me; I know what I like and what I don't like. If the question was about the number of NTR/NTS Phone/Text based VNs that are beign produced, I don't see that there are more NTR/NTS VNs that are being produced. Rather there are a larger number being produced as Phone/Text based VNs using AI - the theme is irrelevant.

Basically if you play with AI for a while, you'll struggle creating very specific situations/scenes, but you can generate hundreds of variations of "random selfie with a pose", so phone AI stuff is the perfect excuse to hide AI limitations and the struggle to create progression and/or consistency between scenes.

It's not necessarily a trend, it's just the easiest way to use AI as a tool, and since the entry barrier is low that allows some people who wouldn't make a game otherwise to make one. And they all get bottlenecked into making the same game due to having the same limitations.

Im pro AI, i just think people use it wrong. Using it for line edits and clarity issues makes sense, using it to figure out what your story should be and then having it write that story is something that you feel when reading it. Needlessy wordy paragraphs with no eloquence that just numb your mind.

Having been a DAZ3D creator for years I was curious about the use of AI for image generation and you are spot on! The limitations go beyond a scene creation. Stable Diffusion is one of the more popular and does a better job in this regard, however it is still limited by ease of use. That is to say, just getting Stable Diffusion installed and setup is a pretty convoluted procedure, and if you aren't running a higher end NVidia GPU, it is even more convoluted and limited. There are a few issues with AI:
  1. Larger more complex scenes are difficult to produce and so you end up with the "random selfie with a pose" as you rightfully point out. That is why you typically don't see multiple images for the same scene, at least not with consistent imagery.
  2. The more complex a scene the more a creator has to "prompt" the AI to produce the image required and it can be a fairly complex and nuanced text prompt to get one image.
  3. Model consistency is also a big factor. I have tried many platforms for this and while the models may look similar, they are rarely the same. If you are trying to produce a story you obviously want the characters to have the same facial features the same (at the very least).
On other thought is the writing. Lazy writing is easy to spot and without the number of images a "traditional" VN has, the writing becomes significantly more important. For VN creation an AI might be a good source for what I call a brain dump, but the developer MUST spend time editing and making certain the language works for their intended story-line.

Didn’t you know? All governments around the world have made a rule that two out of every three adult games must be phone simulators. Another rule is that they must be ai-cg, otherwise you could go to jail.
