It didn't help that Patreon caused them to axe some of the planned content they were looking forward to creating.

This was always the side project to their main thing which is Seeds of Chaos, which still gets regular and frequent updates.
This only ever got updates whenever they were ahead of schedule, were probably getting threatened to have their page deleted for inactivity, or something that reminded them they had a 2nd project.
I personally never liked Seeds of Chaos but I at least had some interest with this since it seemed like it would be dumb and fun with cute girls.

The saves are in the registry, use reg editor from Windows, and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Venus Noire\Jessika Curse. Then open Gold_h2088709061, set it to decimal and edit to whatever amount you need.

DO NOT MESS AROUND IN THE REST OF THE REGISTRY OF WINDOWS!!! That can and will brick you machine fast.

I tried doing this, but it didn't work. I think they changed the location of the saved data.

Seems like editing the gold doesn't work, there is no location for it. Maybe you can edit it from an older version of the game.
