Hello!

I’m Mr. Pengo, here to introduce Jezebel, my first big release as an AVN writer and a passion project that is long in the making.

Jezbel
is a narrative-driven adult visual novel set in the medieval city of Rosegate, the political and commercial hub of a bustling kingdom. You play as Duvessa Devereux, an amoral noblewoman who seeks to scheme her way to the top of the food chain. The game features RPG elements, branching narratives, and an alignment system that allows you to play god with Duvessa’s life. It is up to you whether she will be a master manipulator, seductress and femme fatale, or if she will be humiliated and brought to submit by the cutthroat world around her. Your choices determine both how the characters develop and what happens to the kingdom and the various factions vying for power.

I’m obsessed with big, ensemble political stories with tons of warring groups, ideologies, schemes and betrayals. Obviously, Game of Thrones (the books, specifically) is one of my chief influences, something I wear on my sleeve. I also *love* bad/villainous girls in fiction, whether they be genuinely sadistic and evil or redeemable tsunderes. This game, with its player choice system, is my attempt to do both. Duvessa, and many of the other characters, will develop differently and explore various different kinks based on the decisions you make. My ultimate goal is to create a game with a genuinely great story that invests you enough in the characters to make the sex scenes all the more outrageous and taboo.

Release Date

I am planning for a Q1 2025 release date…probably somewhere around March. The first episode is completely written, and it's just a matter of getting the art together at this point. (Update: the first episode will be released on May 25, 2025!)

Episode 1, Repatriation, is heavily focused on Duvessa and what happens in her first week after returning to the city. In future episodes, I plan to expand the scope of the story more and include NSFW scenes from other perspectives. I’ll also be introducing many more characters who intersect with Duvessa and are influenced by your decisions. The roster of “main” girls is going to be around 7 in number, with several secondary girls getting screen time as well.

Thank you for showing us your game! I love stories set in a medieval time period, and it even has 2D content! I am curious what the game will look like, I am sure the writing will be excellent, and the hentai scenes will be amazing. Can't wait to try it out when you have a demo.

I wish you the best of luck, and I am sure that you will hoard gold and sleep on it, like Smaug, because it will be a massive success. Looking forward to see much more in the future!

Thanks! There won't be a "demo" in the conventional sense but I'll be releasing the first episode for free here, which contains 2-4 hours of content :)

Love the main FMC's design/look. Overall, the art looks great. Duvessa sure does look like the token seductress :devilish: Give's off major femme fatale vibes.

Love how there's gonna be a lot of side characters as well to play through, as well as choice-based gameplay/an alignment system.

What kind of characters do you have planned for Duvessa to encounter in the first episode? :unsure:

Tricky question to answer without spoiling things! Episode 1 is a bit of an insular story; most everything is related to her first week back in the city after a long hiatus and the political scandal embroiling her family. Everything opens up in episode 2 and there are some major characters/sex partners we won't meet until then. Since every episode post 1 is going to be juggling multiple plotlines, I suspect my easiest days of writing are already behind me :LOL:

Status Update #1 - January 11, 2025

Work is being done on the game's UI, which is slowly but steadily being programmed in after having been designed earlier last year. I've been getting some outside help with it, as it really not my area of expertise. Once it's complete, I'll be going full steam ahead with post-production until all of the work on my end is complete and its simply a matter of waiting for the art to come in.

I've included a preview of what the game's UI is going to look like, including the pause menu that shows off the sub/dom mechanic!

Status Update #2 - January 19 2025

I've been working on implementing the OST, ambient noise, and sound effects to the game this week. This is a really fun part of post-production, as it's essentially the last touch needed for things to appear and sound exactly as they will in the final release. I'm excited for people to hear the original music that has been composed, as I think it's quite stellar. Of course, the final release will contain a music room section so that you can listen to the ever-increasing library of tracks at your leisure. :)

Status Update #3 - January 26, 2025

Not too terribly much to note this week; I've essentially been doing the same thing, gradually going through the game's first chapter and adding music/ambience in addition to a bit of editing. I did recieve some new character sprites that I've since implemented into the game, including the soon to be fan-favourite character "Generic Cult Member" that I've included in the screenshot. Hopefully I'll be finished with the audio soonish and working on the in game Encyclopaedia, which has been great fun to write for and I'm excited to show off!

Status Update #4 - February 2, 2025

Post-production continues to trudge along; I've implemented the soundtrack and SFX to all scenes with complete art, and am now waiting on the remainder of the sprites and CGs to be finished. The Encyclopaedia is still being coded, and isn't ready to show off just yet. It feels somewhat frustrating having little to do, so I've decided to start writing the second episode of the game. So many AVNs take forever to release new updates, and I'd so very much like to be an exception to that rule. :LOL:

Status Update #5 - February 9, 2025

Progress has been made on all fronts this week; I've recieved some great new art, worked on coding, and gotten a good start on writing the second episode. I'm really experiencing those ricocheting feelings of pride in my work and doubt that it's actually any good that I imagine all creative people go through at some point or another. I think I'm a good writer, but who knows? I guess the audience will be the ones to decide my fate. o_O

This week I would like to preview the opening of the game, which is an element I'm quite happy with. I mean it when I say that Jezebel will be a quasi-RPG where your decisions significantly impact the storyline and the kind of person Duvessa ends up becoming. To that end, I've developed an intro where you make various decisions about how she spends her adolescence and early adulthood, each of which will impact the story. This was an idea I had on day one of writing the script; it's loosely inspired by some of the early BioWare games that let you pick your character's backstory for flavour. But this is more than just flavour, some of the choices here will impact which scenes you will get, and can change the way some characters develop before the story even begins.

Status Update #6 - February 16, 2025

Nothing much to report this week! Progress continues to be made...as of right now, I'm thinking I'll be able to mantain my Q1 2025 release goal, but Episode 1 may not be ready until April. It's a bit frustrating because, while I don't have a following to speak of yet, I'd like to make a habit of meeting deadlines if and when I do!

This week, I'd like to preview another main character: Erika. If Duvessa is meant to be the ultimate femme fatale fantasy, Erika is the tomboy of your dreams. She's a peasant girl who lives in a village controlled by Duvessa and her family, and who becomes increasingly intertwined with our heroine's schemes as the story progresses. Her endless hours of labour out in the fields have left her with a muscular and curvy body...at the moment, however, her oblivious nature renders her largely unaware of her latent sex appeal. Currently, Erika is probably my second-favourite character to write after Duvessa herself. She's a super fun ideological foil and sidekick for Duvessa...in broad strokes, you might think of her as the Sancho to Duvessa's Don Quixote. Next week, if the Encyclopaedia isn't ready yet, I'll preview another girl for you. :)

Status Update #7 - February 23, 2025

The Encyclopedia is still taking a while longer, but it should be finished by next week. My hope is to use it to preview various characters and lore elements in these status updates in the future. Animations have also been taking a long while, but this good news is that the CG art for Episode 1 is almost completely finished; there are only two more pieces that I'm waiting on. It's looking more and more likely that I'll have a build of the game that is completely polished from start to finish by the end of the month, and then it's only a matter of getting all the animation and background art together.

As promised, today I'm previewing Veska, another prominent girl being introduced in the first episode. At a glance, Veska is a noblewoman who has it all; beauty, wealth, power, and status. She's married to one of the kingdom's most powerful lords, and benefits from the many privileges that follow. Beneath the surface, however, is an anxious and timid girl who feels like an imposter in the big city. She was little but a country bumpkin from a small town when she was whisked away, suddenly front and center in a world of power and deceit she knows nothing about. Her innocence and naivete make her an excellent mark for Duvessa, who manipulates her into playing a part in her many machinations. The question is: Will she remain a lost little lamb, or will she learn to play the game for herself?

Status Update #8 - March 3, 2025

I figure that, rather than give a general assesment of where I'm at, it would be useful to get more specific and address exactly what needs to be done before the game can be released. These "tasks remaining" lists should be a part of the game's development henceforth, specifically for the latter stages before an episode is out when I know exactly what needs to be completed before launch and can give numbers. With that being said:

As soon as this is all together, it should be a matter of just a week or two before the game itself is ready. I remain confident that this will be sometime in April! :)

This week, I'll be taking a brief look at the Encyclopaedia, the (optional) guide to all things Jezebel lore. The Encyclopaedia will be split up into four main categories: People (hopefully self explanatory), Places (kingdoms, cities, villages, castles, etc.), Histories (historical events of significance, with the name being inspired by my main man Herodotus), and Concepts (everything else). Unlike some in-game encyclopedias, the one in Jezebel is totally canon. Duvessa is an obsessive bookkeeper, and the Encyclopaedia represents her attempt to chronicle the world around her and amass a greater knowledge than her foes. As the story progresses and you make various decisions that influence the world, the Encyclopaedia will update dynamically to reflect what is going on!

I should be recieving the remaining character sprites any time now, and the rest ought to be finished up by April 1st. Not much progress was made this week beyond working on some Encyclopaedia entries and fixing up what I've got for the episode 2 script a little. As soon as I recieve the character sprites, I'm going to do a big once over on the entire game until it's totally perfect, which should consume a lot of time. This week's preview image features two new characters: August, an emaciated street rat who crosses paths with Duvessa under bizarre circumstances, and Scars, the female leader of a vicious band of raiders and pillagers. It also features Duvessa at her most sadistic, which is quite possibly when I find her most enjoyable to write.

We are getting close! Exactly when I can release the game is going to be determined by how long coding will take after all the assets are together, but I think things could be a lot worse and remain confident in a mid-to-late April release. All character sprites for the first episode have now been completed, which means I'm in the process of functionally completing every scene in the game. Working on this game has been just about the most rewarding experience of my life, and I hope my enthusiasm is felt in the final product!

Today's preview features two new characters: Davor, a highly principled yet deeply contradictory noble who serves as the central antagonist of the first episode, and Jasen, an immoral demagogue masquerading as a champion of the peasantry.

The work remaining list might make things appear like the game is almost ready to go, but that isn't quite the case. Once I have all the assets together, there are several screens that need to be coded. Unlike a lot of the RenPy AVNs I've played, Jezebel will have a full gallery that contains all of the game's NSFW scenes, as well as every CG. I'm really committed to making this game look polished and professional right out the gate, even if it means more work. As such, I think I'll add a screens section to the list next week that establishes how much coding needs to be done before the game is ready.

Today's screenshot features Branko, a character I believe I may have conceived of the same day I came up with the idea for the game. It was always clear to me that there needed to be a Nappa to Duvessa's Vegeta, so to speak; Branko is her prized henchman, a musclebound mercenary who, while not the sharpest tool in the shed, more than makes up for it with his penchant for violence and total lack of moral fibre. He isn't to be trusted, and it will be up to Duvessa to make sure that their relationship remains professional...

Not the most fruitful of weeks in terms of progress, but that's alright. As things stand, I don't see anything impeding a late April release. Things are largely out of my hands at the moment, so I've been working on the script for episode 2. I'm very satisfied with the amount of content that will be included in the first episode, but believe me when I say that the second is going to be even more ambitious. I'm having a blast writing it, and work has already begun on producing the art assets.

This week's screenshot includes two new characters: Ondrea, an envious and coldhearted noble infatuated with Duvessa, and Viktor, the king himself. One thing I'll say about King Viktor is that I've always been interested in how the public persona of a monarch might contrast with the essence of their actual character. Duvessa is very much not a part of the king's inner circle, and therefore is left guessing just how sincere the image he's cultivated truly is. My goal in writing Viktor, and any other 'figurehead' characters, is very much to leave the audience totally in the dark. :LOL:

Uh-oh, it's the first week where the progress report has remained static. The good news is that work is starting to be done on art assets for the second episode, so as to reduce the wait time. I have continued to make incremental progress on the game's script every day, and a timeline is in place for everything that still needs to be done. Also, one of the posts promoting the game on Reddit got nearly 2k upvotes this week, which is technically unrelated to development but certainly felt nice. The dopamine rush I get whenever people follow my various pages is probably unhealthy. :LOL:
