V 0.1.2
This is an update of the review I made a month ago for the initial release. The main quest is finally completeable, and the adult content as reward is very satisfying. I'm a huge fan of the artstyle, and while it might not be everyone's cup of tea, I think it gives the game a unique charm. I would have prefered to see the characters' facial expressions on the main sprites, rather than the little icon in the dialogue bar, but that's a minor gripe. More illustrations for the sex scenes would have also been welcome.
If you lose, enemies will still drain your levels, quickly setting you back to level 1 if you lose multiple fights in a row. I get this is part of the fetishes the game is going for, with the MC being preyed on by powerful monster girls, and thankfully it only affects the MC, but it would have been more tolerable if your stats didn't also level down. A bit contradictory I know, but given the MC is the main assist of the party, having him die at the first attempt at healing others is painful.
To help you in fights, you have the crafting system to create more companions, requiring materials you get from getting into fights, whether you win or lose. You don't unlock the sex scenes on winning the fight, though. So all your fights boil down to just you surrendering to make it end faster, and never engaging with the combat system unless you actually need to progress the story.
The combat is a tiny bit easier in the latest version, as it takes a bit less time to level up, but the combat is still very grindy. You will have to fight (and lose) the same fights over and over again, until you gather enough materials to craft your first spirits to aid you in combat, a process you will have to repeat each time one of your spirits dies. It's a bit annoying, as crafting the higher-level spirits requires a lot of the lower-levels to be crafted first, which can turn the grinding into a chore at a certain point. Nothing game-ruining, but a problem that hasn't been fixed yet.
Overall, it's a bit more balanced than before, not a lot of new content added but what's there is good. I'll be looking forward to the next quests added by the dev, hoping to get a more involved combat system with less grinding.
