RPGM - Completed - Karryn's Prison [v1.2.9.64 + DLCs] [Remtairy]

I'm going to give my honest opinion here - I love the art, I love the story, and I love the developer's previous game, Melty's Quest. However, I severely loathe this game.

This is mostly because of the combat system. I play adult games for adult stuff. I get that the developer is trying to do something new with mechanics but this is too Kojima for me. Let me explain.

Melty Quest, the developer's earlier game, has a simple lose-for-porn style, which was serviceable. The combat was typical RPG MV stuff - Fight, Magic, Item - you know the drill - along with typical adult game stuff - passive from clothes, lust damage. It was, hard at times, but at least I could understand the system, and how to play it.

Karryn's Prison on the other hand, has some next-level mechanics implemented. There's 2 phases - Mental Phase and Action Phase. There's 3 resources for actions - Stamina, Energy, and Willpower. Your body lust is divided into 5 - boobs, pussy, ass, cock(the enemy's), and mouth. Then there's a overall pleasure bar. There's a weapon's triangle moveset, for all the Fire Emblem freaks.

And all the actions have to be manually selected, every time. So you're doing - select will power moves - select basic will power- rotate selection wheel to end turn - select attack moves from new wheel - select slash - and then one turn ends. It sounds annoying, because it is annoying.

Furthermore, there's no scenes on winning or losing. Oh no, that's too easy. See, first the body lust has to be increased - which depends entirely on the enemy, of course. Then there's a pleasure gauge, which has to be increased. Enemies will take multiple turns, inching towards ejaculation, where you'll be rewarded with cum falling on Karryn or maybe see her boobs. If you're really lucky, you might even get to see a... blowjob.

I'm a simple man. I play adult games for the adult stuff. I can't play for 20 mins choosing shit that doesn't matter (you can't skip turns) with my dick in my hands just so I can see some porn. I have enough of blue balling in real life. The mechanics are just too obtuse. I wanted to see Karryn molested in the butt. I spent 2 hours - couldn't do it.

Apparently, the scenes don't exist yet. That's another infuriating matter - I have no idea what's in the game or not. Is actual sex in the game? Maybe if you get the lust and the enemy and willpower aligned just right - maybe you can just see it. Believe, and it will come true. That's how it works.

Anyways, there's also a prison management mechanic and actual stats, and level ups and debuffs, and accessory slots - cause that's what is truly wanted in a adult game. Just know I suck hard at making money, and I am broke by end of week. (That's RL by the way. Ingame its worse.)

In conclusion, once again, I loathe this game. Everything good about is let down by this convoluted mess of a system. If any developer is reading this, can you please make it that there's a clear path to the porn? That's all I ask.

For now, for me, Karryn's Emblem: Kingmaker of Eternity is 2/5.

Pros:
+ Easy to understand combat;
+ Good quality of sprites and images;
+ Interesting mechanics of Edicts.
Cons:
- Pretty grindy experience (for ex.: for single handjob you have to get groped a lot of times, and after that you have to be lucky to get all the passives for that);
- Obese forms of Karryn (not fan of that).

Great Game and a lot of content for a release. Also made by the maker of Melty Quest. Art is Amazing and the gameplay may not appeal to everyone but the author is really receptive to feedback so expect it to get even better.

(v.03) love it so far, can't wait to see where this leads! The level so far is well laid out, not too grinding. Accidently got stuck one time on the chair for upgrades but a quick save/load freed it up. Like the progression on upgrades, they fit well with the story and add content to the game. Hoping to see a recollection/replay room/spot in the future though I know right now the author is fleshing out the next levels and bug fixes. Good luck and please don't leave this project.

Karryn's Prison V0.3 (Demo) - Possible spoilers!!!

This game puts you in the shoes of an amazing, purple headed female protagonist named Karryn where you get to control the prison.

It's not just the interaction with the inmates but you can also work on the prison's maintenance via edicts. For a demo, this game exceeds expectations when it comes to the content and duration of the gameplay. It's arguably better than the developer's other game 'Melty's Quest'. The grinding is real in this one but if you push the right actions then you can reduce the grinding to some extent.

For future versions of the game, I think there could be pregnancy content as there's an infirmary area in prison. You can also expect the inmates to barge into Karryn's office to give her pleasure while she's in bed. Anal sex is something that's yet to be implemented so expect that to pop up somewhere down the line.
It's clearly understood that the developer has worked his butt off for implementing the mechanics of this game. Some players might find the gameplay mechanics a bit confusing but once you get the hang of it, you will enjoy this game a lot. This game has serious potential and it's going to pretty exciting to see the updates in the future.

Easy review. Great and intriguing start with an engine I don't normally like that much. I enjoy this type of basic management sim gaming, and it delivers some cool RPG skills to boot. It left me wanting to play more, and was an easy Patreon decision. I look forward to seeing more of this game!

Just finished playing Karryn's Prison and I really enjoyed this one honestly my only con was that it was demo leaving me wanting even more but this one demo had a lot to explore I ended up getting 6-7 hours of game play, exploring and playing around with the system. So yeah but hot damn this was an actually fun game, and the actual control/combat system is great fast and fluid and simple one you get the hang of of things unfortunately you can only play the first level of the 5 level prison meaning some skills can't be obtained until future updates.

Now heads up warning... It is a grinder... but the actual fun hard working type where it actual provides a purpose like a new combat move or train your mind to increase sexual urges short version you save enough money then upgrade then fight and fuck your way to the boss. Overall I'm very pleased and can't wait for future updates its sexy and fun.

First RPGM that i did not took for granted(translation: actually took my sweet time experimenting with different outcomes),the grind can be a bit much but im sure the devs will lower it as game develops.This review will be subject to further editing as new versions come stay tuned

So far so good.The grind thing I wrote about may go in a different direction .We will see what 0.7 brings us.

The final product is a gem(the team will add even more content do to the success of the game). It is really rare for RPGM game to be this good, but here we are. It is even voiced in both Japanese and English language. All I can say is: Play this game , you wont regret it.

Damn that game have some really good idea and you can see where the futur update will go!
The character is totally my type but it's a personnal opinion ^^
The gestion seems really complete for this alpha, but i can"t wait the next! ^^
I'm even surprised passing almost 4-5 hours even if for now the H-scene is repetitive as fuck i just don't feeling the boredom hurting me ^^
i like the idea our soldiers can become insane too i hope this side of the game will be finish soon too ^^

The only thing i can say againt this game it's i can't wait the full game to play! ^^

v0.3 review

I normally avoid RPGM games, but I'm glad I didn't on this one. Karryn's prison shows a lot of promise, and unfortunately a few flaws.

First of all, I actually found myself playing it all the way to the end of the demo, which is quite frankly something that amazes me. That in itself speaks well of the game. But the combat system is interesting (though a bit imbalanced unfortunately) with three different statistics to manage, and a moveset that uses your stamina (functionally hit points) to use your attacks. When you run out of stamina, you're not dead, and in fact, I found a lot of combats myself hitting zero stamina on a turn, but then using my energy to recovery and then winning the fight. All together the system itself is rather great.

The unfortunate problem is that you're supposed to be this amazing warrior, but that because this is a game and RPG mechanics, you literally are a pushover in combat at the start, until you start using edicts to get stronger and get gear. Furthermore the rock paper scissors nature of combat is interesting at first and feels tactical, but the way the game 'locks' you out of a move for a turn really feels hampering and unfun. Further, there's supposed to be a way to seduce and use sexual moves against the opponents, which would make sense since you're a beautiful woman (with cow tits) in a mens prison, but, I never unlocked the ability.... and no idea how to do so. I would have loved to see that functionality personally in the 2-3 hour demo that I played.

The combat is really the place where the game falls down, because honestly I can't find much of a problem with this game elsewhere. It didn't feel like a typical RPG maker game. You don't grind for loot or gear or money, just experience. Loot and money are handled in a totally different way, which was integrated into the game as a mechanic, and made it quite enjoyable.

I would personally recommend checking this game out if anything in the description piques your interest.

The demo show quite a promise. Great CG & some of the features is interesting enough to play. But here I am going to point out the horrendous combat system.

I play Secretary (Easy) mode & Prisoner mode (Hard), both feel like it have an extremely prolong combat that was done in purpose. To defeat an enemy, you got 2 way to do it, by hack & slash it to death or by giving him pleasure.

If you attempt to beat enemy with pleasure, good luck cause it was ridiculously slow even at Secretary mode. Both easy & hard mode feel too tedious trying to beat the enemy by pleasure. As if that isn't enough, some enemy refuse to goes down after maxing their pleasure.

Prisoner mode Edith point doesn't seems to make any sense either. As certain edith require 3 point while you at most only have 1 or 2. How do you expect one to upgrade it in the first place?

Trying to get sex scene? Good luck with the horrible rng since you need to find a prisoner with love icon to do it.
