each fight, u get xp based on how u handled the enemies. so early mind upgrades are essential to get more xp for that stat.

Just to be clear, game doesn't care how you handle enemies, it just tracks how many times you performed each action and gives you xp for which stat is related to that action. For example, if you use only blunt attacks you'll level up str constantly because blunt attacks are scaled with str. Use sex skills like handjobs and you'll level up handjob and dex because sex attacks are scaled with dex. Use any mind skill and you'll level up mind.
Same logic applies to sidejobs too. When working as a waitress you'll get charm xp for each prisoner that saw her tits when she flashed. Another example, when working as a receptionist you'll get charm xp for each handshake.

Well, that can easily be done by checking the CC_Config file - pregnancy can be switched off by one option in there.

They also have a random number and type of toys they bring, indicated by status icons on them. If they don't carry the dildo, they'll never be able to use that skill. The general advice for getting any specific act would be to reduce desires that don't match what you want and try to eliminate enemies that can't do that act (since in this case any vaginal sex will block the dildo, you don't want a thug to start sex if you're looking for the dildo).
