I dont know how averse Nalid/Katja would be against the Niht influence. You see from somewhere between updates they have been killing and absorbing pearls into Dilan's body.There's still merit to the mentorship theory imo, aside from the numbered lists suggesting each teacher's assignments, the close ties between each mentor-mentee could also be a way of strengthening the teacher's faction. The only pearling to have occurred recently seems to be Julia's (plus Trent), held under Cho's supervision. If her group has a monopoly on the proceedings, the latest recruits could all be subservient to Cho (possibly exposing another layer to Cho and Macky's argument over who gets to handle Dilan after Emily's dorm fiasco).
You're probably right about Dilan not being able to get pearled, too; bodily reconstitution is one of the things a Pearl seems to experience, and our boy has proven he's able to regenerate to his natural, whole state no matter the injury. Gatastate may try it anyway, so I'm interested in whether Nalid/Katja would do anything about Niht's influence or just roll over and let a repeat of Akuaki + Verl happen.

Idk about artstyle, but based off the facts regarding the missing sister, it would seem Julia is who Caroline is looking for. Going into speculation territory, Julia might be the demi with dormant magical blood described by Allan in one of his reports, which could be related to how Caroline came by her lipstick.
Differences seem to end at Walter's death, the only notable update is the name of the Fragment hidden by Katja in Verl's event (Fragment of Warmth/Cold/Self).
Noo's essence being one of the fundamentals Vaila used to make Dilan a Katalist is probably also a factor in how so many people come to the conclusion that he is either Noo or closely related to her. Vaila was especially concerned about Dilan being recognized as Noo if Domi uses his energy for portals, rather than any of the other individuals she's had him fight, after all. At this point there's probably more Pearls in Dilan than succubi (assuming that is what the image of the crowd of red-eyed people means), but there hasn't been a noticeable change in his capabilities or how people tend to view him. We still don't know what Katja intends for the absorbed Pearls, though, so maybe the effects simply haven't manifested yet, but it hinges on whether she's trying to open the door for Niht or exploiting the Pearls solely to empower Dilan somehow. No matter how it ultimately happens though, like you said Dilan is sure to gain a set of Night Walker based abilities.
I think i will change my theory a bit based on your take on the whole Noo's essence being a fundamental for Dilans transformation I think you are completeley right that maby it doesnt matter too much how many essences he takes for others to recognize him mainly as a succubus. Maby improvements (as the game calls them) matter the most in making how dominant a certain trait is (even though Bonnie's essence has fucked with Dilans mind big time). Like our "first" improvement was mixing Noo's essence with ours to make a katalist. We had to take a detour to do our first improvement because Vaila didnt want the off chance of mixing some part of Niht with Dilan. So yeah maby Vaila is planning on masking our being to look more and more like a succubus while also gaining more and more strength so we could eventualy walk in Vuskovia without any concealer stone etc. So we can infiltrate the succubi main kingdom and do something for the rebellion (kill the queen or some other high ranking individual etc). I cant wait to see what effects the actual first improvement will do to Dilan. On top of being tied to powers, Niht's essence itself is definitely a big deal, too. Dilan can't properly meditate on it so far, then there's Vaila labeling Miki a "Child of Niht" just for having it. There's a weight and danger to it that most other essences just don't (except maybe Purplehead's but there isn't an ingame interaction with it yet), and Dilan having the most diverse set of Niht-related essences around could've primed him for something big, either as a Pearl or acting as the catalyst for Niht that Cho and the ghosts have been mentioning.

If were pureley going off the races you mentioned it will be like this. A good thing to know that there are atleast two worlds as far as we know. That being Chloa (the fantasy world where the succubi and vaila live etc. The place you can enter via the portal on the ritual site) and Ugly Chloa (the human world where the college is). In chloa you have Demis (humans but a different name for pretty much the same species) and in ugly chloa you have humans.

The first improvement is definitely overdue, and I think you're right about the effects to Dilan's being it'll have. Apart from the identification bit, Vaila also seems to expect it to vastly enlarge his range of abilities, like recognizing other entities' natures (same way the Nihtlings do, perhaps). Now that tricky opponents like Akuaki came knocking all on their own, it's high time Dilan started getting truly in touch with succubus powers, especially since Jalie and Rousou still need to be fought too.
I'm with you that components like Niht probably will end up being a complication anyways, no matter how much they try to make the improvement without it. Ironically though I kinda want to see it act up, it could be an interesting development to have before the Niht plotline gets wrapped up.
Naur I was feeling a bit shitposty with mine, there's a fair bit of nuance I excluded that yours covered. For anyone newer to Katalist lore, it's best to keep in mind a good deal of the things we treat as fact can be pretty shaky or mistaken, so it never hurts to be aware of what is most likely subject to change
And with an added layer of Dilan not being a trustworthy narrator its a very shaky story. Though the deeper you go into the lore the more it makes sense. Like its pretty streamlined
