VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Katawa Shoujo [Final] [Four Leaf Studios]

There's a reason why classics never age nor die, and Katawa Shoujo is a great example of that. If you never played a VN before, or even if you did, it is still a masterpiece which, in my opinion, everyone should play at least once.

Moral lesson of "past the disabilities lies a human being" aside, this game is the prime example of what a Visual Novel is about, and might be the best english AVN ever developed to date.

Visual Novels are ultimately illustrated romance books. While it shows its age and budget (simplistic animations, no voice acting, 2D with static pictures, etc.) it embodies the ideals of what a VN is supposed to be, and thus, it would be unfair to give a rating below Excellent.

This is probably the reason why even in 2023, eleven years after its original release, it is still in the first page by weighted ratings, with a solid 5 whereas most others fall slightly short (at 4.7~4.9 range), in a website where about a third of all games are VNs (that's competing with about five thousand other titles!) Many can make a good game, but making a good VN is something rare which Katawa Shoujo fortunately is capable to offer.

My first VN game ive ever played, honestly this game is pretty dope, i love playing it despite its about dorm with people with disability. I dont remember exactly what's the story about since its been 6 years. mc himself has some serious illness, he also forgot his memory. despite that he still able to get his own girlfriend.

One of the best VNs I played. It's not that heavy on the porn, because the sex scenes are not that common and not really necessary for the plot, just a bit of characterization. However, this VN should be played by anyone, regardless of porn!

I don't really need to give this game any more praise, just adding another 5* to the pile. I haven't played it since its release, nor will I again, I remember it still.

This is a character VN far more than it is a porn game. In fact I might argue it's not actually a porn game at all and if you had any expectations for that, you're here for the wrong reasons.

A classic and very heartwarming tale about the MC going to a school for special needs people. This Vn has a ton of heart and hit you right in the feels. This is a slow burn game though not a quick fap one.

This is not a game u want to play if u feel horny. This game is just a good story game with multiple endings and choices that can decide how it all ends. This game has moments that will make u sad but also moments that can make u very happy. The endings are good but most of them are sad endings.

Katawa Shoujo is not a porn game. If you have not played it before, I urge you in the strongest possible terms to do so immediately. I could make a compelling case that Katawa Shoujo was the work of fiction that had the greatest impact on my life as a person. It got me to volunteer to work with a charity for the disabled, I wrote multiple papers on it in college, and I have quoted it for purposes both humorous and profound. Playing this game is perhaps the only way you can actually improve your life on this godforsaken website. Put your dick away and don't waste your chance.

It wasn't anything I imagined from reading the synopsis. I didn't expect a 10 year old game to be of this high quality. (Though sometimes I felt it was too drawn-out at places, Lily's and Hanako's route specifically. Its probably a me problem since a lot of other people loved them the most. )
The art is really good. About the h-scenes, this is a more romance focused game, where the sex is for adding intimacy. So, don't expect any visual gratification, but you will get emotional fulfillment from them. The music is such that people go on to YouTube to search for playlists. About the writing. It was exceptionally wholesome and made me feel a lot of emotions throughout the play through which is very rare for a h-game. That alone makes it worth a playthrough.
A lot of content is there. It took me like 40 hours to read through all the four girl's routes (I haven't played Shizune's yet), which were all well-balanced. There are bad endings as well. All the routes and the branching of the endings makes you feel like your choices matter .
After getting used to their disability of the girls over the course of the game, you slowly ignore that and love them as real people. Their respective physical disabilities (burns, no legs, blind, no arms) don't matter at all, which was unexpected to me, because I expected that to be the focus of the game. More than that, their emotional problems are what draws us in and ultimately makes their characters real people, instead of caricatures of disabled people. As Hisao navigates those, we as the reader are very invested in the story as he comes across the same problems we all face when trying to make relationships work. This game really struck a chord with me (especially Emi's route) and I expect it will for you too. So yeah, definitely give this one a try.

Besto game ever. This is for all people like me that wanted a developed vanilla story with the lust of hentai and all of that in one game with decisions. And if you think you're not going to like anything about this issue of disabled people, just download it and try it.

This game is amazing, I skipped it for years because I did not think it was my cup of thee and because it was old.

I regret that now however that also made it very sweet as I thought that I ran out of quality AVN.

Don't be like me and be put off, play it, it's a first page AVN and it really deserves to be one.

Also I would recommend to not apply the HD patch, play it in 4:3 as the HD patch crops some images at unfortunate places.....

This game was my gateway to VNs, eventually leading me to this site and being aware of the vastness of lewdness (lol)

But homing in on this game's details, I'd say it has plenty of paths to explore and dive yourself into, if you like immersing yourself in the stories of these characters.

One of the best VN games on the market that was made with a small team off the internet. The story is really well put together and all the characters have good plotlines and uniqueness. Would recommend a completion of t he game

The only bad thing about this game is that it was one of the first porn games I played years ago, and nothing since has topped it.

If you're an aspiring writer trying to figure out how to make an engaging story, you owe it to yourself to play this game. It's one of those 'Fuck, it's 3:30 in the morning and I have work in 5 hours, I'll just play a bit more..." kinda games.

This game gave me my first waifu in the form of Lilly back when I was 14. This game changed my perspective on life and relationships. This game gave me hope and comfort when I had none.

Just like everyone else is saying, don't go into this game expecting a lot of sexual content and you won't be disappointed. Honestly, even if you do go into it expecting a lot of sexual content you won't be disappointed, because the story and the characters will suck you in and you will forget about all your expectations. 10/10 game in every single aspect, anyone who likes VNs should play this.

Came here looking for porn, walked out with a masterpiece that moved my heart and made me shed tears. Excellent visual novel, the best one I ever played without doubts. So far only finished Lilly's ending but I don't need to wait any longer to give 5/5 review. Finished it without a need for walkthrough so that just shows how good it is written.

Quite simply the best VA ever made. You will laugh, you will cry, you will ( probably ) fall in love with at least one of the girls.
And the best part is that each girl has a fleshed out story, and it's up to YOU to see if you get the good or bad ending...and man, the bad endings are BAD. They will gut you, they will destroy your heart and leave you hollow.
But they are so worth it, because these characters are amazing.

One of the best VNs out there, definitely worth checking out.
Art is great, Story is amazing, Characters are incredibly likeable (Main Char is a dumbass at times) and of course the H-Scenes are quality.

I've played Katawa Shoujo since the official version first came out and find myself returning to it every once in a while. It's one of those visual novels I can't bring myself to delete from my computer.

amazing game with lots of endings, endless content, characters full of personality and an emotional story. came for a nut stayed for a life changing sob story about disabled girls. overall one of the best visual novels i've ever played, 5/5.
