Keeping track of In Development games

Just a question about keeping track of what's going on and the current story progress of games that are still In Development. I find it very hard to remember what's going on in a game when there are updates that are like 4-6 months apart. Does anyone have any tricks or ideas on how to continue with a story without having to restart the game with each new update. Do you guys mostly stick with games that are Completed or do you use and update some sort of game log to remind you of things going on. I usually can remember the general idea of the story by re-reading the game description on the page but have a real hard time remembering the girls and who I am with and who they are, it's just too much some times. Any ideas or best practices you guys use?

Playing fewer games and finding other activities to fill my time works for me.

I actively follow about 20 threads and only about 10 of them are games which I have determined that I have enough interest in continuing. That's not to say I won't try out a game here or there - but I'm much more discerning on whether I will continue on with a game. I might choose to follow a game for later continuation, but only after either one of the games I'm following completes or is abandoned or I find it no longer interests me enough to continue. I also remain annoyingly active in the game threads I choose to follow, answering questions, pushing back on trolls, etc rather than adding more games to the mix. This gives me the ability to strengthen my recollection of each game.

How do you keep track of TV shows that more often than not also have several months in between seasons? Sometimes years? Just use what works for you.

To me, If it has been multiple years since I last played a game and I don't remember much then I just restart the game, you can skip stuff you remember and it isn't like games are that long anyways.

Otherwise if it has been less than 1 year then I just load the game and trust my brain will catch up as I go. It isn't like porn games are that deep anyways...

To be fair, TV shows generally have a "previously on" introduction. But yeah, globally speaking it's exactly the same mental process.

I would even go further, if after one or two minutes in the game, or TV show, you still don't remember anything, it mean that the story isn't really interesting for you. Then you shouldn't waste your time with it.

I think with TV Shows at least the season ends with the story arc wrapped up, usually, and you aren't waiting months or years to find out what happens with the story. Whereas, with a VN, the time between updates is in the middle of the story. I think the big problem I am finding is that a lot of these games have very similar themes and often stories (I mean how many dead dads are there out there forcing young boys to move in with a older woman and her daughters can there be?) Also since most of the developers use the same assets and characters in there games they all just blend together more often than not.

i prefer to keep track of devs that i rely on to deliver with their games, any devs on my list that end up not delivering or abandoning is taken off, so it really makes a simple list with a few devs i.e their games are what i really lookout for and download

Simple enough. If I recognize a game immediately when I see it in updated games that means it was good (or bad) enough to remember it. I also never start at my latest save if it's been quite a while since I last played. I'll usually start somewhere in the middle to refresh my memory.

That's a good idea, I usually just save at the end of the update but starting at a save earlier it would have refresh my memory I suppose before moving on to the updated game. Thanks for the advice!
