Others - Completed - Kichikuou Rance [Final] [AliceSoft]

Kichikuou is easily my favorite Rance. It's the ultimate Rance experience. Granted, Sengoku gameplay is far better, more refined and smooth and all... and yet, it still just doesn't compare to the masterpiece that is Kichikuou Rance (which is in many ways more of a puzzler than a strategy game). It's likely the best, rawest Rance you'll ever get; just compare Rance 9 (The Helmanian Revolution; and IMHO a bit of a stinker in the series) to the corresponding bits in Kichikuou Rance (I believe I already wrote some walls of text in that thread, so I'm not gonna repeat myself here too much...).

It's incredible how much neat little things are to be discovered in Kichikuou. Also the art is just gorgeous and has - contrary to the gameplay - aged wonderfully. Love it.

A quick bit of lore on this legendary game.

AliceSoft was very close to going bankrupt and shutting down, and in a hailmary attempt, threw everything they had into making the biggest eroge of their careers; Kichikuou Rance.

It was an astounding success and brought Alicesoft back from the brink of bankruptcy, and made them into the eroge behemoth they are today.

This is quite an old game, but it is well worth checking out. It is highly regarded as one of the best Rance games, rivaling and perhaps even surpassing Sengoku Rance and Rance X.
