Man, i'll hold off on judging this new content until the new level design is more polished, it's extremely unrewarding as it is right now with dead ends and no upgrades. The other new stuff is nice though.
Also i can't wait for this to be on Steam so i don't have to go here every time, i'd support it on patreon but i really don't like monthly costs, i'd rather just buy it.

Let's see... maybe because someone like you would rage around while updates take so much longer now due to changing it back as it was? Could that be a big problem, mh? Some people get mad that not every single update is about sex sex sex but adding assets and other important things to the game. Who could have thought this ain't just another sandbox adventure.
Plus it would look super bad if they would crawl back to the original, totally undermining their creditability when it comes to acting like professionals.
This wasn't a choice made overnight or being wasted as fuck from alcohol. They decided it's necessary (not mainly to change the tone of who dominated who but also on a mechanical level) and that's it, period.

The fact that so many of you are so into rape that a simple button mechanic change ruins the game for you is kinda scary imo.
Wasn't just the mechanic, the story telling and cgs (and lack of them now lmao) pretty much ruined the deep compelling narrative of this game's content, truly a dagger in the heart for us poetic porngame enjoyers to endure such an unjust change

The CGs are still in the gallery. The actual story didn't exist yet, it was just gameplay, so the "story telling" you're on about just seems to be "I wanna see this girl get raped" which is the creepy bit.
The whole interaction never made that much sense anyway, because they're trying to attack you, then if you get stunned you randomly have sex, then back to trying to attack you. Just felt like an interruption from combat, probably why they changed it.
You just described the way it is now, except we're the one doing the raping. If rape really put you off you'd hate the new mechanic just as much. Seriously whats the difference between they beat you and have sex and you beat them and have sex in your mind?
Kincaid was just as into it in the old version. Though it seems you never played the old versions, considering the text that accompanied the CGs made it clear she was only holding back solely because of her mission.
We are not getting new cgs, not even bad ends, oh the woe and sadness that surround these changes do nothing but blight my heart, rest in peace kincaid, your old versions shall be the legacy that persists, a memory of a good game

That's the thing, there wasn't even any rape in pre-2022.06 builds as Kincaid was more so submissive and the sex scenes were simply her giving in to her lust over her mission.
These sprite animations have always show her enjoying it rather than being uncomfortable.
Anyone who has a problem with how the mechanic was "rapey" is really complaining over nothing when it wasn't ever depicted as such, but even if it was, then the only difference now is that Kincaid is the rapist so wouldn't that be just as problematic also? When people say they want "rape" back, they mean to say they want submissive Kincaid back.
Yeah, the original, basic character background was along the lines of, "Kincaid is horny but also enjoys her career as an intergalactic archaeologist. So she can have a little sex, but should probably get going with her mission at some point." This characterization works with both versions, as I don't think it was ever mentioned that she has a preference between sub or dom.
I would also like to remind everyone that neither mechanic was ever meant to be rapey. Yes, the old mechanic happens to do more for RoR fans, but the developers have always done everything in their power to emphasize consensual actions. In a very early version of the game, Kincaid had a surprised Pikachu face at the start of the kobold scene; the implications of which fell under the textbook definition of rape, so that was changed pretty quickly (noticeably immediately after people started calling it rape on this very site).
And if you were to argue semantics, even in the new "intimacy intro" Kincaid commits indecent exposure when she flashes the kobold, but damn it if we keep arguing this the next update will feature an animation of Kincaid handing the downed enemy a consent form to sign.
Nonetheless, joeys88 brings up a good point that the roles in the "intimacy intro" could be reversed and the end result would still be the same. I think it's useless to argue who's ideal porn game is better while ignoring that everyone could be satisfied with a switch toggle between enemy grappling and player initiation.
