Review: King's Fall – A Game of Tough Choices
At first glance, King's Fall looks a bit strange, especially in the early hours. But once you get used to it, it reveals its full potential: excellent storytelling, characters that grow close to your heart, and – more importantly – decisions that can either make these characters flourish or completely destroy them.
I often found myself thinking long and hard about whether to push a character down the path of corruption or take the love route instead. One thing I found a bit disappointing was that, if you choose the corruption route, you often have to be a real jerk to the characters you’ve spent hours caring for.

Honestly one of the best games I found here :) I stumbled upon it by accident, and took some time before starting it, but haven't regretted since =D
The game is fun, filled with humor and serious moments, as well as sexy times :p
I'll admit the gameplay took some getting used, no seeing the character was a bit strange at first but I got the hang of it quickly enough
I found the characters engaging, each with their own personalities and problems, which differentiate this game from other harem games I played before :)
One of the things I enjoyed most about the game, beyond its huge size, variety and engaging storyline, is how committed the creators, HaseoOfDeath and baka are, always quick to answer any inquiries and correct any bug found as fast as possible. I've honestly never seen people as active as them within their community, and as committed to helping players with their issues and improving the game anyway they can =D
All in all, I greatly enjoy this game and hope to continue enjoying it until we reach the end of its story =D

Usually I just lurk here on F95, so this is my first review, so take everything I say here as opinion (of my self) and not as fact, as stuff at the time of this review, may be liable to change as the game updates.

So King's Fall is a unique game, in the sense that is based off of MS, and also brings in a unique flair of style that comes with that fact.

The story as far as I have experienced it is a great one, has the right amount of humor( I swear inanimate objects hold a very special hatred toward the hero, and wish upon him death, which is ironic in a sense), sex, and tension.

The story so far to me, seems as though after the untimely death of the hero and his family, the hero is summoned by the incarnation of death, into the world of King's Fall (MS) with the task of killing said titular King.

Throughout the story the hero will meet a very diverse set of characters, with unique interaction and stories that help blend them into the narrative and help the story take form, while some of these characters will be simple npcs, some will take on the form of lovers, wife, slaves, friends, allies, rivals, family, and etc.

The gameplay is a mix of point and click for the combat, with some game elements such as the quick-slotting that MS players might be accustomed to. If one get a grasp of the system, the game becomes very fun and easy to enjoy, the grind I would say is reminiscent of a pre-BBB era MS, where leveling took a bit of strategy and planning to make sure you accomplished your goal, only thing I can warn other about combat wise, is make sure you are well equip if you do prolonged farming of an area, due to the unique existence of the elite forms of monsters (20 or more kills of a singular monster) (tougher forms of the normal enemies) and the Prime form of monsters (30 or more kills of a singular monster) (these are a mixed bag, either you get an invincible juggernaut that feels like an old school raid boss, or a freight train that will kill you in nanoseconds flat, if you don't pay attention, or if lucky just a slightly tougher enemy. Luckily these form can be reset by leaving the map they have spawned in)

The H-content of the game is varied, for those that love certain fetishes of niches, it has variety to spare, usually the game separates the kind of fetishes and stuff you'll see for a certain character, by the use of either there Lovers (think vanilla, wholesome, route, genuine warm and kind love) or the Corruption route (pimping, degradation, mind break, wholesome to slutty, swinging, ntr, and etc.).

Now I'll say this now, the ntr in this game is something you have to actively seek out, and usually is confined to the corruption route of character, and if there is certain type of fetish you don't wish to see (aka the forbidden card ones) you have the option of playing with the forbidden card, and certain fetishes that come with it can be chosen to not be in the game/ player viewing.

But honestly enough of my rambling, I say if you have any love for MS, this is a great enough parody to warrant a playthrough, and even then it can stand on its own two legs by itself, if you want to try it out, I truly do recommend it, and hopefully it grabs your attention the same way it did mine, and you come to love it, for the niche that it is.

    Tata for now everyone,
love ReDeadMan787 (aka T.D.W.) (if you are wondering, those are the initials, for another moniker/username I might be known by those who know it.) (and no it isn't dirty lol, forgot what site this was for a second, realized that it could lead to some interesting misunderstandings lol.) :p

There's a lot to unpack here let's start off with what you came for

    The Porn
there's a metric fuck ton of stuff here for you to see. In the gallery you can see what kind of fetishes you'll see for each character and if you're not a fan of NTR then you can stick with the lovers route. They also won't show you Loli content or beastiality unless you ask for it (which just requires you to input a code that you can literally find on above the download section). There are countless characters each unique in some way so pick your favorites.

    The Gameplay
This part probably won't interest most of you as the game is pretty much just a pornified maple story and those that don't like grinding for stuff will get bounced off. Fear not if you don't want to grind there are items that can be purchased at the start which makes the game way easier, way grindier or just unlocks all the porn. I'll say that it's not as grindy as you'd think since it's pretty generous with drops you need for quests.

    The Story
I'll admit the writing can be sloppy at times and some people won't appreciate the humor (Early Newgrounds as someone put it/SAOA in my opinion, contains many references to other media) however compared to the MTL avalanche we've gotten it is leagues better plus it's not hard to get invested in the story either. here's a quick rundown
You've been summoned by death incarnate from the past into the future in order to kill a king. Along the way you'll start unlocking more powers that befits the title of chosen one as well as making friends with the inhabitants of the land. You'll also meet people fates similar to yours, people who were transported from other times or realities. Those you've known for all your life are dead, the ones you cared for are dead, and now you must follow the orders of the one who brought you here as he will make sure that you will never escape.
of course there's more nuance to the story with books containing the history of the world but if you want to find out more you'll have to play it yourself.

    Overall
The game is pretty fun although most people who play are either here for story, porn, or both. There's tons of content and none of it is locked behind a pay wall (Except for cheat items which don't really do much in all honesty) art is being improved as well as writing. The game isn't perfect but it sure is good. 4.5/5

TLDR: Game fun, porn plenty, no need grind if want to see porn, story good, maple story clone, it free

    Pros:
    • Large amount of H scenes relative to the game's size.
    • Nostalgia factor for those who enjoyed the old mmo.
    Cons:
    • Extreme amounts of grinding required.
    • Laggy and unresponsive controls.
    • Bare bones tutorial that doesn't explain basic features like hiding dialogue boxes and rollback message history.
    • Anti QoL features for non patreon builds.
    • Basic enemies having stall abilities to further prolong the grind.
    • Writing quality differs massively from scene to scene that makes you wonder if the MC is bipolar.
    • Developer appears more interested in enforcing grind than encouraging players to enjoy the content.

It was a little difficult to get started at first, but it was totally worth it.

A great story, a lot of quests and of course very attractive H scenes.

Shoutout to the BGE team, they cookin' with this one!

Genuinely, the development team working on King's Fall deserves so much more recognition than they're getting.

Mechanically speaking, the game is relatively simple, but between gameplay you don't need to think "too" hard about combined with an excellently done nostalgic artistic sense, this quickly becomes the kind of game you can easily fall into for hours on end without even realizing that. The Maple Story aesthetic is just fantastic.

I get why some people don't connect with the writing, but it the kind of irreverent surrealist humor that I honestly can't get enough of! Approached with the right mindset, this gem can have you howling one minute, scratching your head the next, lost in thought shortly after that... then horny again.

All this doesn't even touch on the sheer breadth of content in the game. Aside from the obscene amount of dialogue written for King's Fall's story and quests, the hundreds of places to visit, monsters to kill, and WELL over a thousand items to collect (I'm not even close to completing this...), there are at least a few hundred pieces of lewd art in this game that I'm still working to see. The music's pretty excellent, too!

In any case, if this game doesn't grab you at first, I definitely recommend pushing through a bit further to see if it might grow on you. For me, I'm definitely keeping a close eye on this one.

Oh yeah, before I'm done, back to the dev team! These guys built this game from the ground up, including the engine it runs on. Their community manager gets dev blogs out every single week, and releases are steady. Just another reason this one's easy to keep on my radar!

...I would have given this a higher rating because the game *does* have a lot of content. But its flaws are just too much.

    (review for version 0.2.6.4c)

The good parts of this game:
    + lots of content
    + decent gameplay
+ RPG mechanics that work well enough
+ lots and lots of items

    The bad parts...
    - stolen art (almost all the pixel art, background art and even the login screen art were lifted straight from Maple Story)
    - inconsistent art (mainly when it comes to the porn)
    - disjointed writing
    - blueballing (no vaginal sexscenes for early romanceable characters like Admin, Lucy or Oz "until later versions"... even though this game has been a thing for four years now)
    - character creation is almost meaningless (you either play as the standard 'Hero', or you play as a custom character whose sprite doesn't even show up in-game in a story-free gamemode)

    ..
    Writing - 2/5
IMO the writing would be enjoyable if it wasn't all over the place. It's also kinda sloppy.

Another review described it as "early Newgrounds energy", and frankly that's spot-on. It really does have the kind of over-the-top edginess that you'll see in oldschool Newgrounds stuff. Lots of crude skits about drugs, sex, homicide, and getting kicked in the balls. So nostalgia points from me on that one.

But the writing itself isn't actually good. MC is acting like a retard with almost no impulse control or self-awareness? Cool. That's actually a legit premise. But during the romance scenes? Then he's suddendly this kind caring understanding guy in a way that... just doesn't mesh with his regular personality. Yes, yes - characters can be multifaceted, and obnoxious characters can have a caring side. And this can be written well (case in point: Rance). But our 'Hero' here isn't written well at all.

The format and pacing of the writing could also use some improvement. For example, you'll see spoken text and the character's thoughts on screen at the same time. Even though unspoken text/thoughts are marked with asterisks (like this: *wonder what he's thinking*), it's still a little confusing. Keeping spoken text and character thoughts in separate dialogue steps would make for smoother reading. (for that matter, more dialogue steps, with fewer lines on screen per step would also improve legibility)

Another thing I have to point out are the tons of spelling- and grammar mistakes. Things like 'waist' instead of 'waste'. The game has an unusually good report function for this, yes - but the mistakes are still everywhere. There's even inconsistencies in name spelling, like characters occasionally saying 'Illinia' instead of 'Ellinia'.

    Game mechanics - 3/5
Overall decent. Would have been 4/5 if not for two things...

One flaw is that things are either not explained properly, or through infodump tutorials where you'll miss half the details. For example, you can switch between hiding the dialogue box and character sprite by pressing the 'H' key - but you won't find out until you've already reached Victoria Island.

Likewise, it's possible to roll back dialogue by pressing the left-arrow key. I only found out about this by accident, and AFAIK it wasn't explained in any of the tutorial sections I've seen so far (after a few days of playing and getting to level 32). I could've missed it - but judging from the other reviews, there's clearly a lot of people who aren't aware that you can roll back dialogue.

The other flaw is that character customization is basically pointless. You can't play the main storyline (or in fact, any storyline) with a custom character. And playing as a custom character will lock you out of all the porn, too.

In fact, the one and only benefit of customizing your character is that you'll be able to use female-specific items if you make your character a girl. That's it.

The fact that you don't see your sprite in-game (or in fact anywhere but the login menu) wouldn't even have been so bad if it wasn't for the fact that this game rips off Maple Story in the most blatant way it possibly could...

Seriously. Character creation was lifted straight from Maple Story (like so many other things in this game), but then the devs decided that making a 2D platformer was too much of a hassle. So they turned it into a point-'n-click game instead, while keeping Maple Story-style character creation as a funny little leftover.

Other than that, the gameplay itself is mostly OK. It's insanely grind-y on its default settings. But you can fix most of that by pressing the 'K' key and setting EXP gain from 'low' to 'mid' or 'high'. You'll still need to grind, but it'll be much easier to level. (and you'll NEED to level, because you'll frequently find yourself underpowered in this game)

The selection of items is broad and mostly OK, but... this too has been lifted straight from Maple Story.

    Plagiarism - 5/5
Man, the chutzpah of these guys...

Background art, level art, sprite art - hell, even a lot of names and layouts were just lifted straight from Maple Story. Just google 'Maple Story worldmap' or any of the Maple Story wikis. So much of it is either straight copypaste jobs, or copypasting with some enhancements.

Now, I got nothing against ripping art from existing games. Hell, it's fun, and I've done it myself more than once back in the good old days.

...but ripping art from a major RPG and actually getting money for it by way of Patreon? How the hell are these guys even still in business?

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that the parody clause won't protect straight-up art theft. And the fact that there's money involved means that this is the sort of thing that corporations won't just let slide once they catch wind of it.

Seriously, this project is one cease-or-desist order away from being killed off. If you like this game, better hope and pray that Wizet and Nexon aren't as litigation-happy as Nintendo...

    Porn - 2.5/5
There's some decent porn in this game. But only some.

Basically, this game has two kinds of porn. One that features romanceable recurring characters. And another one that features throwaway characters in town events.

The porn with the throwaway characters is easy to access. Almost all towns have a maple signpost that can be interacted with, and through this signpost you can access the town's available throwaway character porn events.

And these are literally just porn events. The story to them is minimal and has no impact on any of the major plots in the game. The characters they feature don't have a sprite, and the sexscenes you'll see are just stock sexscenes that are recycled throughout the game.

At least they're animated, though. And they're basically the only way you can get vaginal sex in this game if you don't feel like cheating or sinking weeks into this game.

...which brings us to the romanceable characters.

I already mentioned this earlier, but my major gripe here is that you can't actually go all the way with several romanceable characters you'll meet early on. Characters like Admin, Lucy and Oz will give you blowjobs and titjobs - but once you feel like doing some actual penetration, the game will happily tell you that this content won't be available until a later update...

This is especially glaring with Oz because she's a teen prostitute Sugar Baby who will actually give you a menu of all the things you can do with her. There's half a dozen options on the list, except actual sex. So this is clearly intentional. And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out to nudge people into becoming patrons. "See? This project is still being worked on. Now pay up and pray that we might finally stop blueballing you in the next update~"

Not gonna lie, I don't like it when a porngame tries to blueball me. And it's not like people will lose interest in a game if they can go all the way with romanceable characters early on. Just look at Zombie's Retreat.

    Other aspects 4/5
Bastard Games & Entertainment claims that they wrote their own engine for this game, and their patreon page says that they have plans to publish this as an alternative for RPG Maker, Wolf, and other game maker programs.

That's pretty impressive, and I like that kind of effort. What's more, the engine seems to work well enough, so this is definitely promising.

So, props to them for that one!

    ..
All in all, this one gets a 2/5 from me.

The engine is interesting, and I don't even mind that it rips off Maple Story. But the writing and execution of this game are generally sloppy, and the same is true for the porn. Quantity cannot make up for a lack of quality.

And it's probably just a matter of time before this project is killed off once Wizet or Nexon become aware of it.

I tried to like this game and give it a chance, but this is the most grindiest hentai game i ever played in my entire life. i had to play 8 days straight 16 hours a day, and then i got tired of reading the story, so i started to mash the buttons to skip text. not only did i feel like i read 3 novels in those days, i also had to farm for quest items that took literally hours just for 1 quest. It took me 8 day to just to get to the main heroines sex scene, and this was on easy mode! If i was not on easy mode it would have probably taken me a month! some of the erotic scenes arent even that great, they just reuse the same pictures further into the game development, making it feel the developer is getting lazier and lazier. I can see why the dev has so little patreons, its like they are intentionally trying to blue ball the players as long as possible and piss them off. Playing this game made me feel like i had to wait until marriage before having sex...

Full disclosure, I have only around two hours into the game. In those two hours, i managed to complete two side quests. One where you click on enemies to get 20 frog legs and one to get some box parts. The rewards for this were some potions money and experience. Clicking fast also doesn't help as enemies will be invincible for a while after getting clicked on. Assuming this is the standard for the rest of the game i genuinely think the base game is supposed to be extremely frustrating/ boring to funnel people to the patreon version. The Patreon version will massively help with your experience I think as it can modify drop rates/money/has a fast auto clicker. But this rating is just on the base game.
I don't know how good the sex scenes are as i only saw one random sex scene throughout my game time.
All in all, if you don't plan on becoming a Patreon/ have the Patreon code/ or have the will to dump a massive truckload of your life on clicking on this game, can't recommend it.

    MLP4EVER

I tried so hard to like this game but I can't. Why does it feel like doing advanced calculus in order to unlock all the sex scenes in this game? The relationship stamps are literally useless since it only skips the character's quest till the first choice and then you sit there doing random garbage for like 30 minutes on ONE character. Most people don't want to spend literal days trying to unlock sex scenes. It wouldn't be as bad if the "gameplay" wasn't just clicking repeatedly and spending forever trying to locate the right location for what you're looking for. Then, like we haven't had enough of our time wasted, you have to play through AGAIN to unlock the scenes from the other routes. If you're gonna make a game with a heavy focus on adult content, don't make it such a giant time sink to unlock that content.

I played the game for something like 4-5 hours, and to be honest i'm kind of amazed anyone praises the writing of this game. the best way i can describe it is that it gives me an overwhelming amount of early newgrounds energy. the MC is overwhelmingly stupid, as are a large chunk of the supporting cast. this would be bearable if the game didn't pivot to attempting drama or touching moments in between the main character tripping over his own feet 4 times in a row and swearing up a storm like a preteen who just figured out what "fuck" means.
The game does have it's moments that prove it can be something special, and maybe the later and more recently added parts of the game are better, but the parts i played were pretty unbearable and i struggled to keep playing in a way literally no porn game has ever made me before.
I'd honestly reccomend you give it a shot despite all that, if only because it's a unique experience in the same vein of watching a 3 hour youtube documentary on a mentally ill internet microcelebrity.

Most players starting this game wont be bothered to spend about 30-60 minutes to figure out how this game is played unfortunately because it is different than the usual click and fap abundance of games around. Any who bother to progress past the tutorial will get hooked on the game and boy is there alot of it. It took me a week to finish one route out of the possible 2 and I was playing for multiple hours a day. Hundreds upon hundreds of quests and so many beautifully hand drawn art images to keep you hooked on top of the well written and laid out storyline. This game caters to alot of different fetishes and you can choose whether you want the more risque ones too. Game is huge for it's current size and offers alot to keep you busy and engaged. And all this content I mentioned, is supposedly only season 1. There's way more coming to this game and with the new overhauls and art updates, now's a good time as any to jump into the game. And if somehow it proves complicated, the devs' discord is always active and offers all the help you'd need from helpful members to the devs themselves.
Absolutely a 10/10 game. Well written, beautifully drawn, and has an engaging story to keep you hooked for hours on end. With constant updates that bring even more content, more optimizations for early game, and more fun and witty characters.

[This Review and Rating is NOT final and is subject to change in the future]

Admittedly, I am still currently playing through this project and my rating may be biased based on my personal interest of the game this project is a parody of. From what I have experienced so far, the plot in my opinion is enjoyable, charming, a bit crude yet entertaining, and especially captivating. For it being an Erotic take on the MMORPG Maplestory, I am glad to see that this project creators went the route of keeping it story filled and adventurous all while adding their own flair.
Gameplay wise, I find it an interesting choice that the project went with a "Point-and-Click" style compared to Maplestory's "Side-Scrolling Platformer RPG". Being a"Point-and-Click" game I will say doesn't necessarily take away from the game but rather keeps it simple and easy to control and navigate but I will say partially take away the potential of the feeling of playing a character and specific weapon mechanics. The idea of having weapon classes is meant to not only give diversity but also vary the many advantages and disadvantages each weapon is purposed with. Swords are the known common melee, Pole-arms are more powerful and distant but slower and limited compared to a sword, Bows and Crossbows have their range but are tied with their respective ammunition type, and so on. My point is, the lack of a physical character model takes away the feel of combat with the type of weapon you wish to wield. Speaking of the combat, Though I do not mind the grind, I personally think there should be event combat with some of the NPC's (not all but some.) that are involved with the character. Rather than just writing the scene where the "Hero" has their conflct resolved out maybe use some anonymous sprite models or silhouettes be made into actual enemy's for the players fight out the scene and give them a feel of accomplishment that they the player earn that fight. The UI, Inventory, system and control settings are simple enough to pick up and understand though would appreciate control over Music/Sound/Voice (If this project decides to go the extra mile to voice the game. Not needed but I know some of y'all like that feel of a moan in yer ear.) and I honestly would like to see a "Lock Item" feature for the inventory. Seeing that there are specific quest that require certain items that can easily be accidentally used and or sold, having a feature to ultimately lock it and give the players a feature to manage items better would be nice along with a better way of splitting stacks of items.

Overall, aside from some minor dialogue touch up, personal inventory add-ons, and some bit of clean up on some of the CG. (Being OCD I've spotted some bits of stray pixels here and there for some scenes. Not an issue just though I'd bring it up to light) The project so far is very impressive and ambitious. I do wonder how far the team plans on going knowing how massive the world map of Maple is. Many of the story-line has made me laugh, cry at tender moments, and pose some relatable events. Some of the Erotic scene personally to me are a hit or miss, the writing for some characters are fitting but some feel a bit too crude or feels out of place depending on the scene but I completely understand, being a ex-writer myself I get the struggle of wanting to be colorful and detailed but also balance the flow of the event.

This project has come a long way and have done well so far but there is still a long way to go. I hope this review has been insightful to those who plan to play this and inspiring and constructive to the team that is working on this. I highly recommend this project and suggest to those who also wish to see this project strive give support at their Patreon, and give your constuctive thoughts to add and grow this project.
I wish for the best for The Bastard Games & Entertainment Team and I look forward to what is to come for [King's Fall]

Postscript- I personally think instead of calling it Kings Fall, it should be Maplestory: King's Fall. Every time I go searching for something about in via Google the majority of the results annoyingly enough leads to Destiny 2 stuff. I hope this game grows enough to have a wikipage or something for how big this project is already.

TLl;DR: It's a child of shitty mmo and clicker game and MC is a retard (for comedic purposes?), guess dying does that to you.

Main gameplay is that you fight things by clicking on them until either they die, you die or your mouse dies (everything on screen can attack you). In order to get to next zone you have to survive for some arbitrary amount of time, like 2 and half minute before you can move to next waiting zone.

Drop rates of items are abysmal even on 4x and you don't know what they really are because you are not told for some reason. But the best part is that their stats are also randomized! Have fun grinding or spending eternity killing mobs.
That on itself wouldn't be too bad, but dev really doesn't like people using cheat engine and auto clickers. In a game that he forces you to click over 100k times...
There is also gacha if you like loot boxes. I don't think you can buy gacha tickets with real money, but you get them as random loot from certain enemies or some quest rewards, so that's a good thing, I guess?
Quests are often bring x of y and kill x of z...

Story and dialogue aren't anything amazing, it is kinda funny at first but after novelty wears off then it is just annoying and frustrating.

Art is okay for main NPCs, for side-side characters from world events it's pretty common to have hair styles, hair colors and body type change from scene to scene or mid scene.

Might change rating after it's fully released. I hope it will get better.

This would be one of the best games on this website right now if it wasn't for the absurd time you have to wait doing absolutely nothing worth your time in combat, the game requires you to spend 2:30 minutes in each combat zone to progress to another zone, while being attacked by any mob in the screen, this is so outraging, let's say there are 5 zones in between towns and i wanna go from town A to town B, if i haven't explored this path before, i'll have to spend 12 and a half minutes just waiting for paint to dry, while being forced to click random enemies in the screen, how is that fun???? How does that make the game engaging? I get it you wanna have combat in the game, but don't make it boring as it is right now, if i had the option to just skip combat entirely or just cheat i would, seriously.

if your first 20 minutes of gameplay are something so unengaging people will just skip your game, i'll probably stick around just to see how this boat goes, but i'm REALLY tempted to drop it already.

EDIT: I'm raising my rating because the developer responded to my post on the game's thread clarifying some things, as well as assuring they will look into this mechanic in the future, even the game not being in a perfect state it doesn't deserve a low rating having devs that actually listen to feedback.

i can only give this game 5 stars, it has great art which is being updated as time goes on. interesting characters and character developmen, the sex scenes are good with varied CG although there is NTR you can choose whether or not you want it. You can choose how you want to let the story play out (kinda).
when it comes to bugs etc. Haseo is usually on top of it and will fix it by next update, so although there are bugs you can easily reach out and they will be fixed.

I came to this game for nostalgia, and stayed for the story. All great magic fukerys going on really kept me interested, and I love the occasion humors here and there.

There are a lot of events going on after the Mushroom Island. Most NPCs are unique with distinguished characteristics that make them all memorable in their own ways. The actual gameplay is quite simple and doesn't offer much outside of story parts so I grabbed myself an autoclicker and breeze through them. The intro portion is be a little cliché and might throw off new players, but once you get past that the game makes much more senses. Support features like skip tokens and relationship tokens are great, kudos to the dev for implementing them, helping old players to quickly get back on track because this game is really frigging long.

The developers are really active on both F95 and Discord, casually providing supports and insights into the game. I can certainly feel their dedication to this project and can't wait to see how this game turns out in the far future.

I tried to give it an honest try, but so much about this game bothers me.

First and foremost, the intro screen is nostalgic. Most of the game is nostalgic, but that's basically where it ends if you're familiar with maplestory, because it feels nothing like maplestory. You create a character (with no options to change anything), name them, and load in...

But there's no character. Why would you implement the beginning like that, if you weren't going to show us the character? Years of maplestory basically stunlocked me upon first loading in. I thought I might've bugged it out or something and came back to the thread to search for any answers. The answer was basically a mixture of this from the various posts of the devs answering questions:

You're dumb, you can't read, once you "understand it" you'll "discover its charms", there is no character, it's a point-and-click (google it), get good.

Right, well, anyway, I learned that it's a point-and-click game. Right on. It's still incredibly jarring to have created a character with a character sprite in a world filled with characters who also have sprites, just to be a floating hand, but if you insist that your "one-of-a-kind game" is better, for this reason, power to you I guess.

The character mentions being naked, or having a sword. Other people react to them, telling them they're naked, or that they have a sword. But I can't see any of this, there's a clear disconnect from what I'm seeing and what they're saying. It breaks the immersion before it even begins, and I found myself trying to see past it and look toward the positives instead.

I didn't get very far. It's cumbersome and slow, there isn't much to immediately be gained. I grind mobs, I grind characters, and I don't particularly enjoy either of them, even if they're wearing the tired skin of a popular game they're ripping from.

It feels like I'm stumbling around in the dark, and not because I don't understand it, but because none of its systems or ideas are clicking with me in the first place. When the writing also falls short in the first thirty minutes, (such as some lady saying the age-old 'I'm not wearing panties! Wanna see?' before abruptly stripping), I can't be bothered to continue.

With that being said, this obviously has a group of people who enjoy it. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them, but good luck to the devs.
