Lack of sound effects in H games these days?

As a developer, at first you focus on the basics: graphics, code and plot. Music and Sound are definitely not a "showstopper" for releasing a game. Later... it's a nice to have but of lower priority. As others in the thread wrote many people immediately turn off the sound before starting to play and for others it is simply not that important.

Having said all of that, I invest hundreds of dollars on original music for my game, because I personally think it's in theme with a fantasy game. The music is awesome, so good that I often find myself humming it during the day but to be perfectly honest, I got zero feedback on the original tracks from players (but I'll continue to hire the composer and add the tracks anyway).
