Lack of Variation in Corruption Games.

One thing I've noticed recurring with all "corruption" games I've played, is how they all share the same one of two "corruptions". And it often fails in a similar way Run or Rape games does with male MC's.
(If there's a blue moon out there, I've not seen it at least. And I've checked hundreds of them.)

It basically boils down to: (With minor variations)
1: Female MC.
Always money driven. Had no sexual needs or self-regard.
Usually closer to "building confidence" than any "corruption".
Starts with simple sex acts for money, gradually escalates to more graphic sex acts for money/quest items.

2: Male MC.
Selfish slut with a hyper dick from the get go. (In rare cases has to "earn" his hyper dick.)
Useless at sex. Usually rapes women and progressively gets more violent. OR: Inexplicably gets sex somehow, usually drugs or otherwise.

And you technically have the 1.5: The female MC that turns into the male MC. Doing a complete and total 180 in EVERYTHING when swapping gender. Whether it's temporary or permanent.

And I dunno... it just feels... extremely limiting?
Like, there's thousands of concepts you can play around with. Yet, it kinda always ends up in "Gotta suck dick for rent!" or "Gary Stu, inexplicable uber-slut!".

Not to mention: Many of them fall under some "demon" theme. Which, are often extremely contradictory. And yes: "It's porn", I'm not expecting oscar material here. But a lot of it really goes out of its way to do a dumb.

As, again, it kinda boils down to:
Female MC: Almost always possessed or somehow influenced by a demon, usually succubus. Goal being to become even more milk toast, and pleasure men more elaborately and efficiently. Somewhat common that the succubus does it in order to be promoted to incubus.

Male MC: Almost always part-demon, usually by his dad raping his mom. He conveniently shows up at legal age, often to scold his dad for being a useless deadbeat. And dad pulls a "Hey son! Have you tried: Rape?" and then he is flopping his hyper dick around, beating up and/or raping all the identical girls around the area.

And the fluff tends to crash and burn with itself. Usually in that: By pleasuring dick, the female saps some power or whatever, and grows stronger. Yet... by pleasuring his dick... the male saps power and grows stronger? So we kinda end up with a glossed over catch 22.

But yeah, it feels like everyone is trying to copy the same game?
Kinda like Silent Hill throwing in Pyramid Head in everything because "it worked".

I'm not sure if it has the same issue as to why male MC RoR games fail so horribly. But it feels a bit more broad here.
Especially since it's a much wider genre. (Yet, we keep going back to the same 2,5 games)
It happens when I'm consulted too. People come pitching the same two games, constantly.
And it's always "It's like X game, BUT: With [insert ntr, incest or some other slight fetish]."
And sure, there's PLENTY of "I want to make a game like X, BUT: With Z!". But with corruption, it's practically identical... I can make a bingo board by now... granted, I can do that with most porn, but xD

Yeah, I dunno. Just wanted to ramble a bit over the state of corruption games.
I do know the classic "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but it still feels like we should at least have some variation going on. Especially with all the mommy milkers memes going around. Though, I guess it could be another RoR situation where it's just randomly fucked...

But if any of you got some thoughts or insight: Let me know.
I would like to see more varied corruption games. Really feels like we are missing huge chunks of the potential market here.

Well, maybe my moral degeneration list has some slightly different takes on corruption. Although nearly all of them do have some element of mind-control or financial coercion.

Most of the tropes you mentioned apply mainly to Japanese games. Although they have some fun ones too, most of the time it's the same archetypes and plot lines that are both overused in their anime and games. The western market is SLIGHTLY better with this, as the games are made by developers from different countries and you can see that the developer's mentality can be different. Which accordingly affects the approach to creating a game.

I think the point here, as in another similar discussion, is that 95% of these games are bland shit, without any attempt to do something new and original. If you, like me, have played a fair amount of games, you've probably come across some good examples, and when you look at everything else, you realize how bad others are. There's no secret here, your standards will rise and there will always be more bad and average games. Plus, unfortunately there will always be a demand for so called "purely for fap" games, I'm talking about the ones where the developer doesn't try to make the gameplay interesting and the dialogues only serves as an excuse to show sex scenes.

My advice, on the forum there are lists of recommendations made by users, where games are assigned a rating of the author and a description of what he liked about them. You can check them out.

Almost all the games that are labeled as corruption on this site are not real corruption games but are romance/dating sims where you grind/collect point through dates to get in the other characters pants.

Corruption is weird in adult games, perhaps even too limited. Or, to be specific, corruption has become a catch-all phrase that is almost meaningless. It can be anything from "Introducing innocent character to sex and then expanding on their kinks" to "dominating a character and making them like it." I think the problem is that corruption of a sexual nature can just mean too many things.

So, I would prefer that corruption be applied to a person's overall character. A transition from morally "good" to morally "bad". In my opinion, if a dev or author could capture that period where a good character becomes a bad character and also make it of a sexual nature, then that would be true corruption as well as presenting deeper story opportunities.

Glad to see Seeds of Chaos on the list, and I 1,000% endorse that. Great option for corrupt deuteragonist and excellent writing, so long as you don't mind the dark fantasy theme or navigating an under baked and unfinished adventure game.
