Wedding Roaming by LadyLana - First Impressions at 0.2

Similar to the Devs' first game, we follow a couple who, for some reason or another, have found themselves separated while preparing for their upcoming wedding, and their relationship is about to be tested. Our Dev has improved somewhat since Stay Online, and to be fair, it shows.

While the leap in quality isn't massive, the storytelling is notably better this time around. The chosen medium, a text message simulation, is somewhat limited in what it can do... We are restricted to expressing emotion, wishes, concerns, and desires through the written word — although we do receive some nice picture messages from various characters that help tease, they lack the emotional impact they would carry in a "standard" AVN. The Dev has also introduced video calling much earlier this time, which certainly helps.

Although renders are few and far between, as is often the case in these games, they are of high quality. Given the number of renders, you'd expect that. Unfortunately, there is no Gallery, which is always a feature that should be included in a phone game... Perhaps because the dev has chosen to tell the story through texts rather than mimicking the phone interface, one is excluded. Instead, we gain remote access to the "bull" character's laptop, where we can see some photos he has taken throughout the story. We are still early days, and we already have three distinct paths - Loyal, Cheating, and Sharing — with a handy little walkthrough to help you choose whichever path you prefer. To be honest, though, most of the consequences of choices seem somewhat telegraphed. Some points at the moment suggest extras on certain paths, mainly for the MC himself to enjoy. This is a welcome feature, as the MC in these types of games often end up relegated to the sidelines.

These phone games are quite common now, and while some text simulation games are arguably better executed than this, don't let the "basicness" deter you. It boasts some nice renders, a smooth-paced story, and a proven track record from the devs' last game. It’s not going to be groundbreaking, but it has potential and makes for an enjoyable distraction between games.

Not Going Back by Cicada reviewed at Chapter 3.1

Story - This is essentially a frat college game, and that is really all I can tell you. Slow burn would be one way to describe this, but we are now three chapters in and I do not really know the direction the game is going... it seems the chapters we have been given so far were just used to build lore and set pieces in place for a grander scheme and while we do get little nuggets to tease us here and there, it's only really kicking off now. The developer here is a big fan of conversation, and some of them are great. There are other times they miss the mark completely and just feel a little too chit-chatty while trying to set up the nuggets mentioned before. I feel the writing isn't as bad as some games, but it's certainly not up there with the best. There are definite things that could have been left on the cutting room floor or approached differently.

Visual - The game is really hit or miss here. Generally speaking, the girls we do see naked actually look alright; however, seeing them clothed is another story. There is very little diversity in the characters themselves, and most of the women fall on the bustier side, always having the issue of clothing warp. There are several occasions where the chest is shadowed too, but the shadow looks really square and blocky. There are several characters with questionable hair too; a few times, I clocked a hairstyle that looked like it was plucked straight off a Lego piece. The environments are somewhat generic; don't be too surprised if you have seen a bedroom, classroom or hallway in another game. When they try to be individual, they are shockingly bad, often filled with a lot of empty space and a building that lacks detail. It is also lacking any animation that makes some scenes a click fest.

Characters - They come at you thick and fast; the entire first chapter is just dedicated to introducing you to the cast. We haven't had much time with them individually enough to really have any growth, but those we have, have had a few teases of the characters, so growth is possible. For the most part, there is a lot of variety here and while most may border on the tropes of what usually come with a college game, there is probably someone for everyone here - the main focus is our MC, who through various hints and deposition has hinted at a somewhat dark background; where this will go in terms of story remains to be seen.

Overall - I struggled with this game; throughout the first two chapters, I couldn’t help but feel I had played it before, not that I had played it before, but the unfortunate thing about these games is that there are tropes of the genre that find their way into the subgenre and if you don’t do anything different, well, you’re just too similar to what is already available in the saturated market. I was urging this game to venture somewhere different, urging something to happen, and when it finally did, I was already checked out and my interest spent. I don’t think it is helped by the fact that despite giving choices, they are only really there to push us towards or away from a LI and not really story-dependent at all; this is massively evident in episode 2, where none of our choices really matter in a place they should and the result doesn’t feel earned at all, just forced. I do think this game is at a turning point, and we may be at a part of the story where it goes a little different from the one it’s ultimately going to be compared to. I might revisit it at a later time, but for now, there’s just nothing here for me.

Hello! Thank you for the review, and for playing the game. Hope you don't mind me popping in here with a reply, but I always feel compelled to respond, give some perspective from my side etc., when people take the time to write about my project, especially when it's clear a lot of thought had gone into the review.

On the story, it is slow deliberately. Without spoiling future stuff, I'm deliberately making people assume a generic college story, routed in a level of mundanity that goes with day-to-day life. You're exactly right in the first 3 chapters are mostly world building and character building. However, kind of as a result of this, there's not as much empty conversation as you might think. I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I could point to every single conversation in the game beyond simple introductory small talk and explain exactly what and why it's significant in the future. The game is quite meticulously planned out so there's not really much wasted dialogue. It's all subtle allusions to each character's path and development. But I can appreciate how this early on it doesn't come across that way. It's kinda the problem of building towards something, when you've only got a few parts of the picture it can looked a little off.

Visually, I basically agree with you. I'd like to think I'm improving as we go, but you've got to work with what you've got, particularly early on in development, with regards to assets and hardware (as well as my limited ability). So all of that is absolutely valid.

It's a shame you struggled with it, but it's understandable. All of your criticisms are valid, and the conclusion/feeling you've been left with is a natural progression from that. Interesting that you were urging it to venture in a different direction. I'm planning on taking things in a wildly offbeat direction. I'm not going to say it's completely unique, but this is going to stray quite far from typical college games. Naturally, there will still be the comparisons you allude to. But I'm hoping that this game will be able to stand on it's own merit.
You are also right in saying the decisions feel less consequential to the overall story. I am, more or less, railroading the player to a certain point in the story. Because it's intrinsic to the story I'm trying to tell. So the player autonomy in the game can only really be tied to what girls they're interested in. Functionally, this is a kinetic novel, in a sense, except you've got agency over the girls you want to be with.

With all that being said, thanks for trying out the game, and for giving a review. I always enjoy reading and responding to what people have to say about the game. I value player opinion, and I hope some value can be found in my responses, too, so forgive the somewhat long reply. For what it's worth, I'd definitely agree that there's no rush to revisit, but I'd like to say you should come back some time in the future, when there might be something that appeals more. And thank you again for trying it out. It genuinely means a lot to me.

Well hello, I absolutely do not mind you popping in to discuss stuff, in fact I think it's important and beneficial to all if devs and players have respectful conversation. Which might seem a bit of contradiction given some of my negative comments in the review may seem anything but respectful.

As I mentioned in my review I can see in your world building. It's very clear that you're working towards something and while you have the benefit of the script so know what dialogue, set pieces and the likes are important. We as players don't have that... Yet. I'm sure in the long run everything will come together in a nice little way and players will get a bit of satisfaction in that. Its just a little concern really that when you're so focused on the destination in the early parts and not the journey... People might exit prematurely.

And this is kinda what I was talking about. It's unfortunately sticking to the usual college game tropes and while you're obviously planning something akin to a bait and switch or similar. Which is obviously what I wanted. I was just too sick of the norm in the end. Now obviously I'm just one person and other people's milage may vary, so it may well work for others and judging by some reviews you've got it certainly has.

It should be me who is thanking you for being both brave enough and talented enough to release a game (while I certainly possess some talent I'm not nearly brave to put something out there) and for reading my review. As I said I know it seemed a bit negative in places and I wasn't trying to bash you down. If you take anything from it and learn well happy days, if not, we'll it's your game and your vision so again happy days. I will definitely revisit in a few more updates as I said, possibly even look at the review again... When that will be though,i couldn't say.

Yeah so what you've said here is all valid and kinda what I expect for some people. I knew going into this that some people would possibly drop it before the 'real' story starts. Naturally, I'd have hoped there'd be more there to keep you hooked in the meantime, I'm not trying to drive people away, but some things just don't click with people. I've actually mentioned this as a worry I believe back when I was in the process of developing ch2 (I tried to find the post but couldn't, so I'm paraphrasing), essentially that I was worried that there wouldn't be enough to keep people interested. That me knowing the full picture made everything way more engaging, but I needed to make sure that I kept it good enough standing on it's own as individual releases. Salient point here, I'm going to try and make sure I do that better moving forward.

But yeah, don't worry, I never read reviews as overtly negative (at least when they're as well structured and intentioned as this was) but as constructive, as you intended. Shame it didn't fully hook you in in time. It's reassuring that despite that you can see kinda what I'm going for, though, at least. As I say I do hope you'll check back in at some point, but there's definitely no rush. Things are continuing in this vein for a little longer, so you for sure don't need to keep up to date with every release or anything like that. Thank you again for the review and for your time!

The Grey Dream by The Greys reviewed at Episode 7 Season Final

Story - The writing here is messy, very messy. Instead of getting a mildly engaging thriller, the game seems to promise us at the start, we get quite the underwhelming story that is overinflated, bland, poorly structured and very hollow. There are major pacing issues with the slow pace of the game geuninely stalling somewhat in the early chapters before putting its foot down and going way to fast in the later. It fails to find that happy medium that would probably make it less of a chore to get through. The writing itself, while not exactly poor, still has some major issues. There are numerous Typos, even in the earlier game that you'd think should have been picked up by now, a few occasions of the wrong pronoun being used, and a few times the wrong person was labelled as speaking.

Renders - For the most part, these are actually pretty good; they are well up there with some of the best. There were several occasions where I was shocked to see a busty character not suffer from clothing wrap. There was one chapter where that seemed to go out of the window; not only did the clothing wrap seem more prominent than before, but there were blocky shadows too. There were also a few issues of clipping, and given the high productions of the renders, I am shocked this got through. There is some lack of diversity between the characters though. We have a few busty blondes, a few busty redheads and a few busty brunettes, while they are not exactly head swaps on a body, they are similar enough that you might loose track. The Environments are okay, and varied, for the most part they are filled with NPC where needed and are usually beautifully lit, there were two times i had to adjust my brightness as the scene was a little dark. We do have animations in the game too, but they are hot and miss. A few of the animations don't seem to gel well together, with one having characters switch between positions far too fast and another having clothes magically appear and disappear in a moment.

Characters - I'm not exactly sure if this game has a dedicated LI, There are loads of girls presented here, from your college ex-girlfriend, her sister, your two college friends, and a few stragglers that get no exposition and feel like they are there to shoehorn a lewd scene into that chapter. Overall, there is nothing to the characters; they are very one-dimensional and lack any sort of depth at all - they are there to serve a purpose, heck, even the game itself takes the piss at how they all meet tropes for the action/spy genre. Getting close to them feels non-existent, so when the "pick a girl" that isn't even presented as a "pick a girl" comes up, you're basing the choice on nothing - what's more, the game doesn't really split here and still continues on the "kinetic" tracks. You could get rid of probably 60% of the cast here, and the game wouldnt be any different.

Overall, I came away from this quite disappointed. I think ambition has caused this to run away from the developer, and it has become a confusing, jumbled mess. It doesn't help that there are serious programming errors; there were three occasions where the game declared something had happened, but I couldn't remember that event occurring. For example, you have the chance to steal a Video Camera and watch its footage, but on my playthrough, it went straight to corrupted. Later, it acts as if there was a scene (one you can unlock) that has played. It's clear the developer aimed higher than average here, aiming for a thriller with twists and turns to keep things interesting. While there are moments that show the developer has some talent, writing a complex and serious narrative isn't one of them. It is a very frustrating, bland game that you keep hoping will hook you in, but it never does.

Starstruck City by Desire Dice Games - First Impressions at Version 0.2

Well, college games are about 10 a penny, and considering my top 10 has 4, with many more in the list of games that don’t make the top 10, I think even that underestimates it. So when I pick up a new one, it has to do something quite different to stand out from the numerous others I’ve played and be a real gem in the market. However, this is not that gem.

The story so far is quite uninspiring and full of the usual tropes: guy goes to college, guy meets girls, girls like guy. That being said, only one of the girls has actually thrown herself at our MC. There is so far no real underlying narrative; it’s just relationship building based on clichés and tropes. It's very fast-paced and quite unnatural. There's a little mystery and a hint of threat with a LI who, for plot reasons, fell at your door, but the relationship isn't developed enough to be a strong pull as it should be in the early days - in short, at two chapters in, there is nothing really driving this game forward. Given its pace, that’s a little worrying.

The renders, for the most part, are above average. I would argue that some of the models seem to have had a bit more effort put into them than others. A few models looked quite similar to me, but their personalities so far do offer some nice distinctions and uniqueness. Currently, there are 16 girls listed in the profile section of the game, each with background entries providing some nice character info, but this is the sort of detail that should come naturally in the story rather than requiring the player to dig for it.

As with the game that inspired this, there are freeroams, and unfortunately, they are uninspiring. It's not just clicking arrows and navigating around but rather clicking a room and looking for people to talk to and stars for renders. Since it makes you do a series of conversations in no particular order, the freeroams could have been omitted altogether, and the conversations integrated into the game without any loss.

This isn’t a game I am planning to continue any time soon. As mentioned above, there are countless other college games out there, most offering what this does but in a better package. So far, nothing this game has presented is enough to whet my appetite; instead, it just reminds me how full I am from already having that experience elsewhere.

Yes, its a piss poor game that fails to meet the heights of the games that clearly inspire it. It might get better once it starts to have an actual narrative, but I am very doubtful

Sort of Justice by Creator Tom - First Impressions at Chapter 2 - 0.2.1

For the most part, I do not get on well with Gangland/Mafia/Crime games; for some reason, I find myself clocking out in the early stages. However, I do think there is something about it that is at least interesting. Perhaps it is the very unrealistic storyline, which might be a bit of an exaggeration, but this doesn’t seem like a world grounded in reality - for example, the entire prologue or setup seems a little far-fetched, but it still works. The two chapters we have seen are mostly self-contained, bringing a nice sense of mystery, lots of action, and various plot lines running simultaneously. As a mystery thriller, there is enough to pique even the slightest curiosity. It’s definitely a story that is built around a solid narrative rather than the lewds.

The renders seem to be crafted with some pride; there are some very interesting models, though we’ve only been introduced to a few characters who could be considered LI. There’s obvious potential for future character introductions, but for now, many might find this game lacking — especially considering the lewds are few and far between. I think this is a positive aspect, as there’s currently no real reason why any of the characters should be jumping on the MC’s cock. Animations are quite limited; given the action set pieces in this game, it does sometimes feel a bit like a click fest, where a proper animation would do a better job.

Character development thus far has been somewhat lacking; most, if not all, characters carry an air of mystery, though there are some nice snippets here and there. I suspect the lack of character building is intentional for narrative reasons, and so far, it works.

Overall, we have a good mix of action, a well-paced plot, and enough mystery in both the narrative and characters to keep it interesting. It could go either way at this point, but I am at least interested enough to enjoy the ride for now.

The Missing Part by jPk vns reviewed at Chapter 3

Story - This story begins brutally, so brutally in fact, it might have you questioning whether to continue or not. It is actually quite a bold decision to start a game in such a way, and I really question why it had to be that way... though as the narrative continues, the hurt kind of makes sense, and most of the beats are hit. Our Dev has crafted quite the story here, and even though it is built on pure heartache, a meaningful mystery, intrigue and emotion are constructed to keep it moving at a respectful pace - I really do have to applaud the storytelling here, while certain aspects of it do not make sense, for example, our MC getting himself outthere meer weeks after the event, it is still done in a meaningful and respectful way - for the most part the dialogue is on point, reactions are on point and the cliffhangers are on point. It may be difficult for some to even get to the heart of the story here, but it is some good, crafted storytelling, up there with the best.

Renders - The visuals on this game are well above average, but unfortunately, no fault freel - the models used are stunning. We have only been introduced so far to a handful of characters, but they all have a bit of individuality about them, and in an unusual case, are very realistic. That is to say, bar one character, no one is overly busty; most have nice proportions and a model that reflects their age. There are a few cases of clipping and a few cases of clothing wrap, but given the lack of bigger busts, it's hardly noticeable. There is also a few shading issues with shadows, and there are a lot of times they look a little blocky. Environments are quite vast - we get a variety of scenes both inside and outside, and for the most part, they are filled with background characters where needed giving an actual feeling this world is lived in. For the most part, everything is beautifully lit, and the ambience given is fine for the tone the game is trying to set. I found the animations to be actually quite smooth and used where needed, though given there is often mulitple angles used for the same scene, I was curious as to why we were not given an angle changer instead of just having it cycle through.

Characters - The game is not shy about characters at all, while only three can be considered genuine LIs for our MC, we do have a variety of supporting characters, with some whose motivations could be deemed questionable. For the most part, our 4 main characters, that is to say the MC and 3 LI's, all seem to be damaged in some way, some more than others. The damage the MC suffers is pretty much given to us from the get-go; the others slowly have their issues explained to us in a nice meaningful way rather than just thrown at us. It is a little convenient how they all seem to find and fall for our MC - even more convenient how none of the four seem to want a serious relationship and the "harem" just works - but even though they are "characters of convenience", the building works and are not just there for lewd sakes - though I will say, the MC's personality does change quite fast for the sake of getting a lewd scene....

Overall - I struggled with this one, not because it's a bad game in any stretch of the imagination - the prologue alone was enough to question if I wanted to continue at all. As a father myself, I found it very hard-hitting and still question whether the plot would work if it was even half as bad. I think this comes down to giving us the option to name the MC - we as players will often self-insert ourselves into the story, even more so when we can enter both our first and last name. This is definitely a story that's better told as a spectator rather than a piece on the board. I also question the choices at the minute, for a guy who would be suffering some very deep and strong feelings - getting into one relationship would be difficult, never mind three. Though it is early days yet, we may see some consequences of their choices. It's definitely not going to be a game for everyone, as this has multiple elements that will strike a little close to home for many people, but for those who do stick with it, we have an engaging, emotional and well-thought-out narrative that can showcase just how emotional these kinds of games can be. Just how dark and emotional this will get remains to be seen, but I am going to be taking that ride regardless

Lol is a bit harsh, its not surprising it made people cry, no more than it's surprising Leap of Faith did. As I said in my review, the start itself is quite brutal, and depending on your own situation could hammer home a little differently. I myself nearly walked away from the game twice.

Another Month in my quest to find greatness, and I will admit I struggled this month. It seems that I have now tried most of what could be considered “The Best of the Best” and I am just downloading anything based on hope – and while it has worked for me in the past… its bringing out more coal than diamonds at the moment.

I actually got so disheartened and bored with AVNS this month; there were about 5 days I didn’t actually touch any, and as a result, my folder was left with a few games that I just didn’t get around to trying. Two of which I have reviewed before. Still, there's always next time

Anyway, lets have a look at what f95 brought us this month shall we?

New Games

Aurora Protocol – This one needs more time to cook – I can see it might have potential, but its too full of flaws at the minute to get anywhere. The renders are horrible, there’s a lot of weird faces, most of which are just too busty, except when they drop a few sizes, and it results in some awful clipping, typo appear and a few instances of the wrong speaker being tagged. I don’t want to say it was rushed, but man, it felt rushed.

What We Dont Say – This wasn’t exactly good – it favours towards the bad side though. The renders are very basic and suffer from clipping in many places. The story so far seems very uninspiring. I can't tell if it's got potential, but given it's a college game, my gut says no. Hard pass for now.

Logged Out – So our first new AI game of the month – there is not a lot here to be fair, but there is enough. The release just serves to introduce us to our down-on-his-luck MC and the hot girl from next door. There’s more premise set, but the video game that is said to be the main focus of the story has only been mentioned, not introduced, so I don’t quite know how that will go. The art is consistent enough, there’s a few instances on shade changes, but that’s only really what I clocked. A few typos, too. I’m willing to give this a few updates

Not Too Refined – This one was a gamble; the synopsis told a story of an NTS/NTR game, which I am trying to stay clear of, because there are just so many. The saving grace of this one was that it being a female protagonist, something that brings a big difference to this genre. But, the renders are poor to average. I particularly took note of the party scene where a few of them were actually jarring. The writing is not good and boarders on cringe worthy. I like the premise of a female led NTR/NTS game, but I do not think this is it.

According to Sofia – Well, this was a weird one. For all intents, this is one of them games that is effectively a kinkfest, a wank game as I call it. There is an underlying plot here, but its so ridiculous and light-hearted it could actually works. That's not to say it doesn’t have flaws. The models are basic; there might be a little something special about the FMC, but that’s a given. She is the star of the show after all. The game is also very wordy – it relies far too much on narration and kind of takes you out of it. There’s not a lot here so far, with only three rules being established by Sofia. I’d say I am looking forward to how she justifies the rules as things get extreme, whether I get to see it though I don’t know. It's not a game I am rushing back to

The Memory Machine – Shitty title, I know, but the titular device has at least given us a poor woman’s memories of her getting hastily corrupted by her dad/not dad. The game is a little samey, to be honest, even using the same series of montage images to progress the day. The game basically is wake up, montage, a photo shoot to corrupt the girls, watch a film. Rinse and repeat. Its not a deep plot by any stretch, and narrative wise, its mundane. But the dev has been honest, it's a lewd showcase this, so it's a story to showcase the lewds rather than the other way. I’ll pop in and out of this one, but I won't be rushing to download the next

The Selkie – I came out of this one feeling a bit Meh, it has a bit about it, there’s actually a very reasonable amount of content and a surprising amount of lewds for a debut, they also didn’t feel like lewds for lewds' sake, but they also didn’t quite feel earned. The art is very weird too – the renders are of low quality, and with the use of, I think, stock photo backgrounds, they become very noticeable. The story is different from anything ive seen and makes for interest, but filling it full of Scottish terms made me feel lost. I don’t think there’s anything here to be fair. But I’d be happy to be proven wrong

Crossing Fate – Man, what a beautifully rendered game. It's a shame its a 5 minute wonder that is effectively done now – It's a nice, simple story, boy saves girl, girl becomes obsessed with boy, Girl fucks boy. That’s it. Nothing really here than the beautiful renders.

Willing Temptations – The female model for this game was really off putting for a start. She’s far too busty for my tastes, not that I don’t like the busty girl, but bowling ball boobs are a big no-no – add to the fact that I kept getting “this route is not implemented yet”, and well, I didn’t think it was worth the effort. Hard pass this one

The Prosecutor – Its always nice when a new game drops that has a bit of content and you can spend a bit of time with and that’s what we have here. But despite the amount of content here, it is not good. So we have an MC who keeps failing Law School, a brother of the MC who put the pressure on him, causing him to fail, the MCs brothers wife and her sisters. MC is a little creep who has done stuff to sleeping girls three times now. I think I know where this one is going based on what has been presented, but it’ll need a few updates to really present itself

Sweet Home Magic – Well, this one was pretty. I can't deny, the renders are definitely above average. The MC looks 12, though, and it's very off-putting, bordering on creepy. It's not clear what this game wants to be. At its core, it's looking like it's a standard MILF Landlady game, why there are fantasy elements added, I do not know, possibly just something to add drama or make it stand out from the rest. Not surprisingly, for fantasy this is a hard pass.

Streets of Sorcery – This was good, but I couldn’t help feel as I was playing it, I was missing something… reading up, it seems what I am missing is the dev's first game… anyway the renders are stunning. Really well done, I couldn’t find anything wrong with any of the characters. Its quite meaty for a debut as well, giving lots of deposition, while trying to cover the bases of those that didn’t play Lust Academy – its done well, but I think it could be done better. For now, it does seem like a solid start and a solid game. But it has left me feeling I need to play the prequel

Last Sunset – I seriously considered giving this a miss, and I still don’t know if I made the right choice in playing it or not. These types of games are hard, hard for many reasons. But it's a bit bittersweet playing when the MC is in the situation he’s in. I’m not even sure it's right. Still, it's early days, so yet to see what this situation brings and what’s in store, it could handle the subject well – time will tell, I think

Updates

False Narrative – This was a weird one; it started a bit like an acid trip. Really, really hard to gather what was going on. The deposition drops, and things suddenly become apparent, and it's nice to have the bait and switch. The renders here are great, I liked them a lot. The premise is set, and I think there’s a little promise. I feel it’ll need a couple of updates to get into shape. But we shall see.

My Girlfriend's New Kink – This one is a little different from most of the AI NTR games out there, in that the fella is actively getting involved, and there seems to be a Cuckquean path. I like that. The game is full of kinks, and the game is at least generous enough to ask what you like and dislike. The couple has now had “the Conversation” so I expect the dial for this one to get turned up next update. It's often a breaking point for these games, but given the options available… well, there are a few places it can go. I’ll give it one or two more before deciding if it is worth continuing.

Game of Inches – I didn’t like this at all. There was nothing pulling me in. While playing it, I was suddenly reminded of a conversation I had with Tony and his review and while I don’t let reviews dictate what games I should and shouldn’t play, his discussion, and review and the fact that I just wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t think there was much point in continuing.

Alt Ctrl Del –
Sliders meets porn eh? This is great idea, executed wrongly. It's essentially a “wank game” and is just using the ideas of different worlds to get our characters into various lewd situations. It's not exactly steering into the kink fest either, and instead hides behind a poorly structured narrative. You could argue there’s so much potential here given the unlimited possibilities… though that potential is squandered pretty much with the first world they go to and then “the swapping” of the dads – which is not as subtle as it should be. Wasted opportunity really

Pecker PI – A nice little Detective Noir game, its nothing special, but its nothing bad either. I go more into it in a review here

Seduced in Rio – So this was a nice little AI game that suck into July’s list. It had another update in July that I unfortunately missed, so I had a bit to “catch up” on – I do like the art on this one, it's somewhat different from the usual AI stuff we get, but in terms of content, it's lacking; there’s a lot of sex. The MC and his LL have gone from 0 – 60 in no time at all; there was no build up at all. The latest update has introduced a little bit of drama with the landlord, but it's nothing gripping so far. This needs time to cook

Reconnections – Man, this one was tedious. I tried to go as long as I could with it, but there’s just nothing there. Essentially, it was an hour a watching a relationship break dow,n and that was too long. The MC and his GF clearly do not like each other, yet they are hanging onto their mundane life for reasons unknown. The added 3rd wheel should actually accelerate the inevitable split, but instead, it does nothing. Waste of time this game, as slow burns go… this one isn’t even hot yet.

Independent Horizons – This one was a bit weird. The renders are piss poor, looking flat in parts, and I can not get over the facial expressions. The story is a bit long-winded in getting from A to B, but it is nicely written regardless. There does seem to underlying narrative that was teased throughout episode 1 and then popped up at the end… however, given the long windedness this side of the plot kind of falls down. Overall, it's just another kid who goes to school and has a magical cock game. It doesn’t seem to be anything special. I might return to it, but I am in no rush at all.

The Big Step – Well, this one only appeared in the list last month, and here we are again. I hope that is a sign of things to come, because I am honestly liking this one a bit more than I should. This game isn’t afraid to be what it is, its throwing all sorts of tropes and kinks at the wall and everything is sticking. It's told in quite a humorous story, though, and things just work. It's definitely a nice break from the more “serious” games out there.

Sorority Temptations – This was a nice little update following the big question we got at the last one. On the surface, nothing really happened on one path… on the other, however, Lucy does a bit of growing and discovering. I think it's obvious where the good story is in this one, but I am still excited to play both. Really looking forward to seeing just what this one brings.

Bonds Between - It seems like I have missed a few updates on this one. So had a fair bit of catching up to do. There is still no real premise on this game; I can't tell what it's going for, there are so many stories going on at the same time. An affair with a hot MILF, rekindling a relationship with your ex and a developing relationship with a mom/landlady. There’s no real story other than these relationships developing, though there does seem to be the introduction of a villain character now with the MILFs husband. Not ready to bow out of this one yet… but it needs to start doing something, I think.

Boundaries of Morality – and it's time to bow out of this beautiful game. It was doing so well, but all of a sudden there has been some unneeded sandbox elements added to the game. While I am sure there are people who do like managing hunger, energy and other stats, it's not for me. Shame really

Secrets and Promises – That was quite the update, a lot of lewds here, but it wasn’t Lewds for Lewds sake. While some of them were not exactly earned, a lot were beneficial to the story. Relationships were definitely defined in this one and it's clear where we are going. Looking at the map, we have barely scratched the surface on this one… but it's going to be an enjoyable ride

Wedding Roaming – Well, this was quite the update. Had to actually run through it a few times to get a few paths set up. It is very similar in premise to our Dev's last game. But our dev has come on leaps and bounds, and this is just a better product. Really looking forward to where this one goes. It's a great ride

Charon 13 – A Sci-Fi game, so I went into it expecting the worst anyway. My expectations were met quite fast – this game is littered with AI animations that really dive headfirst into the Uncanny valley – they are weird. Some are unsettling. The plot is nothing special due to reasons, our MC finds himself on a 14-month spaceship ride, and he’s the only guy. You know where this is going, esp after 5 minutes, the game uses some amazing porn logic to get us to a Lewd. Nah, not for me.

Not Going Back – Weird one for me this one. Struggled with it quite a lot. It is, for now, just a college frat game; we’ve seen most of it before, sometimes scene for scene. While the dev has informed me this is on purpose, in a bait and switch kind of way, its missed the landing completely. It might get better, but for now I’m going to give it a miss.

The Grey Dream – I came out of this one disapointed. I'm not sure what I expected to be fair, but I dont think I will be continuing this one.

My Bimbo Dream – Well, obviously I have played and reviewed this a bit, and my last play in May I was somewhat excited for season 2 – well, its here and things certainly are different. First, there’s no load, so all that stuff we did in season 1 doesn’t count, though I will say the game is sort of giving us questions that put us on certain oaths of season 1, but a save would have been better. The dev has chosen to go down the route of AI animation, it seems this time. They look weird. Anyway, with season 2 starting now, this game has just entered a turning point. It’ll be interesting to see if the dev can bring it home or not

Distant Vows – So this one got played in June, and I mentioned that although it came across as a typical NTS/NTR game, I was willing to see where this one went… Well, it went somewhere. It's gone in a direction I didn’t think it would go, the Husband seems to have fallen into a Femdom storyline, and the wife is in a corruption storyline… Seems its bought a few more updates to really show itself.

A Wish Come True – So, this is a nice little story – a fat girl suddenly becomes attractive, and now she has to navigate this new world where she is desirable. There are a couple of paths here, and it seems to be going many ways. The art here is good, considering its A,I it does remain a little consistent. Despite the length, there’s not much to the paths yet… need a bit more before I decide

Love Haven Island – So a nice little update on one path, the NTS one, the Loyal and NTR remain still to be seen. We get a nice little delve as our FMC defences break down and she suddenly falls from grace. I think this one has potential, but given just how little we have got, it's a long way to go before we prove that potential

Layla Shattered Hope – Well seems I missed an update on this since in debuted in June. Nothing like Victoria in Big City, like I thought, a bit darker and depressing than that one. I honestly don’t think I am going to like this one. I can tell where its going, and while I don’t mind corruption games…. This one's a bit tropey and on the nose.

Starstruck City – The game you’d get if you ordered BaDIK of Wish – there is nothing special here at all, just more of the same, and it's not even better – you can read my thoughts here

With Eyes Closed – A game I have reviewed before, and it was actually the game of the month back when it was last updated in May. This time we get a bit of a poor showing, the story went absolutely no where, just a nice showcase of lewds. Given what had come before with this game, I expected better.

A Perfect Couple – This one got silly, all of a sudden, some ancient artifact is used to hack phones and devices so you can spy on your wife? Man, I understand there are limitations to these phone games, but there are better ways around it than some Deus Ex Machina crap. Nope, there are better than this. Time to bow out

Sort of Justice – I liked this better than I thought I would. It's the sort of game that doesn’t hide its main plot behind something else. While it isn’t without its problems, well, I am not ready to bow out yet

The Missing Part – Incredibly difficult to play this one – I did get past the worst of it (so far) and am more than willing to continue for now – but as I said in my review, I was ready to bow out at least twice, so if it gets difficult again, who knows?

Blast From the Past

So this month, we went with Welcome to Free Will – which, when you sort completed Ren’Py games by weighted rating, appears on page 6, so not quite up there with what’s considered the best, but still up there regardless. As a big fan of Twin Peaks… this one really appealed to me and to be fair, it started off so well – it soon lost its way and overall I wasn’t that impressed, disappointed I think.

The Fappies

Best New Game – It was really difficult choosing a game this month – I wasn’t actually impressed with any of the games I actually played. I think for overall quality and length I have to give it to Streets of Sorcery.

Best Update – Like the New Game choice, I found this one difficult too – there was a lot of games that were not tipping the scales towards good and a lot of games I didn’t play just the update. I think, though, Secrets and Promises deserves it, it was a nice meaty update with lost’s of content.

Best New 2D Game – Well, there was only one it could be this month – Logged Out wins by default, though it was quite the debut anyway, so there is a good chance it would have gotten it anyway.

Best Updated 2D game – There was a fair bit to choose from this month. When thinking back, two come to mind as standing out. My Girlfriends New Kink and Seduced in Rio. My Girlfriends New Kink Probably just pips this one, but it was incredibly close.

Best Girl in a New Game
New Group.jpg
Best Girl in an Updated Game
Update group.jpg
Best Girl from Blast from the Past
Lily - Blast From The Past.jpg

Worse New Game – There were quite a few it could have been this month, Crossing Fate, Willing Temptations and Aurora Protocol came to mind straight away. I feel like Willing Temptations gets the award this time. Ive said it before, and games have got the award for the same reason in the past, you can not be putting out games where "paths are not implemented yet"

Worst Updated Game – Similar to above, there were quite a few games that could have easily walked away with the award this month. With Eyes Closed gets the nod this time, which is a shame as it's been an update of the month winner. But unfortunately, the update brought nothing to the games in terms of story, narrative or anything. A bit of a waste.

Story - The pacing of this game is concerning; there are several points in the first two chapters alone where I found myself zoning out and lacking the energy or interest to keep playing. The developer clearly aimed for a slow burn here, but there isn't enough happening anywhere for it to land meaningfully. Aside from pacing issues, the story feels very underdeveloped and heavily dampened by choices that ultimately don't matter. For the most part, the dialogue flows reasonably well—that is, the characters speak as you would expect humans to—though there are a few typos here and there, but nothing major enough to pull you out of the experience.

Renders - Overall, this game looks good, especially considering it debuted just over four years ago. All the main girls are very attractive and have a bit of individuality. However, you don’t have many choices—you're either getting a blonde or a brunette. The one-shot characters stand out somewhat from the main girls, not in terms of hair colour or tattoos, but because some seem a little less polished compared to the main cast. It's as if little effort was put into them. While none of the girls are overly busty—actually, all have believable, realistic proportions—there were a few instances of clothing clipping, and on some models, it looked worse than on others. I also noticed three occasions of clipping that weren’t major issues.

Environments are both good and bad; it's nice we’re not confined to the MC's bar or home, and we do get to explore other locations. Most are well-lit and populated with NPCs, making the world feel lived in. However, many NPCs are just doing background tasks, which can be distracting. At times, I had to rewind because I was more concerned with a character being attacked by a dog than with the MC and his love interest. This distraction isn’t necessary, and the scene at a nightclub, which could have benefited from this, simply features an NPC striking a silly pose throughout a conversation.

Lewd scenes are infrequent. While it's not a lengthy game, I was still surprised by how many there were. Most are quite vanilla, with one exception that isn't pushing many boundaries. Despite being animated, the scenes feel a bit janky and lack something, like they were tacked on as an afterthought.

Characters - Essentially, we have the MC and four girls who could be considered love interests. There are also a few other characters who appear briefly just to bump up the lewd content, though they assure us it’s a one-off. The MC doesn't really develop; he shows up with a specific goal and that’s it. The story really revolves around the main girls, though some develop more than others. The relationship with the MC advances too quickly—there's no buildup—and you spend limited time with each girl before all of them unexpectedly fall for him. This feels odd because the MC shows no interest in any of them, making the choices in the game somewhat redundant.

Overall - After playing the developer’s next title, Law School, which is firmly in my top 10, I had high hopes for this one. While I wouldn't say I was disappointed, it’s not what I expected. The difference between the two games is vast. I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt since this is the developer’s first game, and it does show some improvement over time. It feels like the developer struggled to focus where they needed to, and, overall, the game suffers from a lack of clear identity. It’s not quite a love story, nor a thriller, nor a slice of life. It wanders without purpose. It's not a badly written story, but it lacks the polish to elevate it. The game’s course has been set, and there's no fixing it now. Given its length, I’d suggest trying it yourself to see if you like or love it—though it's not for everyone, and I suspect many might lose interest before finishing.

Average 5/10

That's not far off my assessment though, only 1-2 points above.

Like the story is lacking definement and is below average... Average at best
The renders are good, great even for the time,
Characters are nothing really, they're just there and don't really develop,
The lewds are few and far between and not even that good when they do come
The ending is a rush fest and lacks any real conviction

It's at an average game, but there's nothing that pushes above that really.
