April In View
So, another month, another month in view. April was always going to be a tricky one for me to get through everything. Given I had some time away for my birthday, so I knew there would be some games left in the folder at the end, hopefully ill get round to them next time they drop into the “Latest updates” page. But bar one or two games, I got round to playing everything I wanted to.
Anyway, let's see what f95 brought us in April, shall we?
New Games
Elysium – The renders are certainly pretty, I'm curious about the description though, “going to work, and dealing with the daily grind of corporate life” The MC only went to work once. The rest was just filled with needless family life. It was a nice showcase of images and texts, but ultimately showed nothing.
SeductVille – The renders here are piss poor I wont lie – be prepared to look at the same image with only sight variations to the pose as the story unfolds around you – Doesn’t seem to be any story to it other than go to a new town and fuck everyone to gain experience. Looks too sandboxy for me.
Price of Desire – This is going to be one to watch, there are a few teething issues, I won't lie, there is an issue with the renders. The in-focus static renders over the blurred backgrounds does nothing but highlight some of the flaws the models have; the writing is choppy in places, not just with typos and grammatical errors, but there's a point where the MC is referred to as MC1. Overall, though, the concept is interesting. With a bit of TLC, this could go somewhere
Marital Problems – I THINK this one just made it into April games, could be wrong, but I thought Id allow it anyway. These NTR phone games are really chink and fast now – this is a fresh spin on the genre, instead of the couple experimenting through choice a thearpist has told them to do it. The male of the couple is against it for a change. Nothing is really here, given it's only a one-chapter game. I will say I am more excited about this one than I've been about the others.
Moonlight – And this is how you do a new game. I've not got much I can say bad about it really. The renders are great, and the storyline, although throwing a little too much technical shit at us in the first instance it is interesting and engaging enough. I didn't see too many typos, so the narrative wasn't spoiled at all. Overall, I say it is quite the engaging game - With the little bit of mystery there, I am at least interested in picking up update 2 to see where this is going
Boundaries of Morality – This is another fine example of how to do a freshly baked showcase of a game; it is more or less good. The renders are simply fantastic, the writing is great, and though the narrative doesn’t really give much away so far, the story is at least interesting enough to make me want to play the next chapter. However, there are bad things about this game too, mainly the animations, there are loads, and sometimes they just feel like showing off rather than adding anything to the game. At one point, I counted 6 in the space of about 2 minutes. The animations are also used in the lewds, and it kinda doesn’t work as well as the dev thinks it should. That being said, we are in the early days here, and it's definitely sparked a little interest in me
Falling Undercover – Nox Syndicate – Given, for the most part, I enjoyed the last game this dev brought us, this was one that was actually on my radar, and I was waiting for. For now, it seems to be more of the same, which is both a problem and isn't – our dev sure knows how to tell a NTS story, that is clear by all their games, but this one still remains text-heavy. Which is a result of the type of static renders used. The setting here is at least interesting, and I think will be enough to carry a decent story… we do get enough to at least see where this game is going or at least wants to. Either way, I am excited as to where this goes
Updates
The Abyss – This is quite the attractive game, there is an underlying story there, but you really need to suspend your disbelief here, though it has a nice illusion of choice I cant help but feel this is going to be one of those games that showcase various kink and fetishes, with the choices adding various flavours rather than a story variation, though I’d be pleased to be proven wrong on this. The game has been translated poorly, and as a result,t it can be quite difficult to play. There are various issues with pronouns and names, and the dialogue is very choppy, often difficult to read and understand. This needs a lot of time to cook, really.
World of Secrets – My god, this has some of the hottest high-quality renders I've seen in a game for some time; however, that is all it really has going for it. The writing is all over the place, sometimes being mildly confusing to nearly incomprehensible. Seriously, I get why the dev feels the need for the teenagers of the game to talk in their own little way, but it's not adding anything to the game. I actually played for the best part of 3 hours. Couldn’t tell you what the game is about… There seemed to be a mystery with the MC's father, but it's soon dropped. Not sure who the main Lis are in the game either, as characters are thrown at us at quite the pace… I am not sure this game knows what it wants to be. Either way, I'm not going to find out.
University Days – I didn’t get too far in this one, if I am being honest. Nothing about the game grabbed me. The renders were poor, and the story, from what I saw, is very generic, somewhat cliched and nothing we haven't seen before elsewhere. The overall writing is also very poor and just does nothing to simply excite me. With the amount of school games I am playing… I don’t need another, especially one with poor production values across the board.
You Only Die Twice – I wasn't really expecting much from this, but I thought I’d take a chance anyway. While the renders are passable and the writing is okay, it's not going to be enough. Looking at the tags, I can see this won't be for me, with the main reason being it's a Kinetic Novel… added all them planned tagged and its just seems liked its going to be full of kinks and a bit too much for me.
A.L.I History – I bowed out of this one quite early, it just wasn't ticking the boxes for me. While I found the game visually pleasing, that's all I could say. I did find it pleasing. The writing, while sound, grammatically correct and the likes, is very bland, boring and struggling to actually get anywhere. There are nice hints at history, but it just adds to the frustration rather than opening up any intrigue and suspense. It feels like this game could be so much more, but either through being rushed, not thought out or some other reason, it kinda feels somewhat incomplete
Sins of Lust – Another one I had to bow out of, this is just categorically bad, the narrative is all over the place, putting across a nonsensical story, so much so, in fact, characters suddenly change personality just based on where the dev wants them to go. The renders are bad. Really bad, I have no idea why the dev chose such a childish model for the MC, yet here we are. It seems to be one of those games just designed around tropes; however, while most games in this style of writing know exactly what they are, this one seems to dance around the fact. It was very painful to even get as far as I did
Recall Destiny – This, for all intents, is actually a new game, however, it gets classed as an update due to the fact that its one and only chapter has been remade. – The improvement is quite striking and noticeable, though in the newer version, there are issues I won't lie. The renders are off, sometimes really quite bad, sometimes just barely getting above passable. The main problem is hair; it often looks like it's taken straight from a LEGO piece, and there were 3 times I counted where the MC's hair was clipping. – the narrative is good, if we were to consider this a “New” game its not one of these 8 minute wonders and does give enough to show what the games about, it does feel a little rushed, with an added bit of chaos, but I think that's due to the length of time it chose to tell what it has,
My Hotwife – This is one I return to every now and then, and I do not know why. The game is not inherently bad, it's just that at the moment, it's got nothing going for it. There are a few reasons why, but my main issue is with execution. At its core, this is a basic cuck fetish simulator – the game just gives us various scenes in which the MC gets cucked by his wife, rinse and repeat. The main reasons why they started the journey seem to be forgotten, the added semi-sandbox mode hasn't added anything but frustration for me. There are better ways that this game could be done, though to be fair, given what it is I'm not sure any other way would add to it,
The Adored Marriage – A short update, a bit more speed is added to the previously mentioned slow burn of a plot. Nothing I can add to
my review really. I think this needs a few more updates to decide if I will be continuing with it or not
My Phone is NTR – A typical NTR text/Phone game – still in the early days, doesn’t seem to offer anything the other 45,000 of these types offer. Can't really say anything other than that.
Miss Denvers. – What an absolutely pointless cash grab! Simply no point in this update at all.
Corrupted Hearts – I didn’t like this at all! Firstly, the option to only play as the MC's perspective only takes away from the story and should not have been given – at its base, it's the story of an MC getting cucked who doesn’t know it. Without the fems POV we as the player would know nothing… There wouldn't be any story there. Secondly, the cucking is important, as evident by the game over we get if we discourage it. The story itself it's not exactly a fresh take on the genre, and it's moving at a snail's pace. The renders are somewhat weird, while they do get better, they sometimes seem dated. Overall, l everything is average about this game, and it all adds up to a very dull experience
My Girlfriends Travel – This is another NTR phone game, though this is a little different; rather than it being all about the girl, there certainly seems to be the option that the male is going to get in on the action. It's done very sloppily – the GF is in Europe, for example, no word on where the MC is, but they don’t seem to have any time difference. That is to say, the MC and FMC seem to be on the same or similar time zones. I can let that pass for narrative sake… but there would be better ways to tell this story.
Amnesia – Fuck me this one is pretty, probably the prettiest Ive seen in a long time. However, that just wasn't enough for me to keep me playing after an hour. The MC's amnesia is a bit of a crutch here, and he comes across as a right tool. The story presented so far is boring, yes, there are a few interesting characters, but even they are not consistent. At its core, this is a very pretty but very typical “landlady” game with tedious sandbox elements. Despite the prettiness, there are games that do this concept better.
My Brother’s Wife – A niche little game, unfortunately, it suffers quite badly from a number of factors. I discuss them
here
Bindr: Kink Dating – So it seems this game is going through a bit of an overhaul at the moment. Based on what is presented so far, it's hard to determine if I am actually going to like this or not. The sandbox really puts me off, esp given that so far I have actually seen nothing that warrants having it. I'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, as the premise doesn’t at least show the sandbox part to be grindy, but I guess we shall see. I’ll come back to this soon, I think.
Strong Desire – I didn’t get too far into this game before an update was dropped into the thread that would suggest it is getting remade, and it really put me off playing any further. From what I saw, the game seems okayish, a nice little Cuckquean game with a breeding and family harem aspect. I’ll possibly pick this up at a later date, but if it's getting redone, I'd rather do that version
Office Perks – "A Nice little update that brings a whole lot of nothingness to an already big pile of nothingness. Interestingly, though, things do seem to be picking up in terms of work, and it's going to be very interesting when the "harem" is all in the office on Monday. *may need to wait for 2 updates next time"
Stay Online – Okay, this game is getting good now – the use of video calling rather than text messages is actually quite the touch and is certainly helping it stand apart from all the other phone/text games out there. It's still massively flawed by not being built around a phone UI, though and really lacks a gallery app. But overall, it's still an impressive game.
Memories – I don’t know why, but this got missed off the January Review. Anyway, that's
remedied now, and thanks to having a decent amount of content, I was able to give my impressions here!
Artemis – Considering this game's elite status on here, some even ranking as high or higher than being a Dik, I am shocked how late to this one I actually came. I won't lie, I
struggled with it and suspect I’ll struggle with it going forward, but it's not done enough to turn me off so far…
My Milly – Essentially Dating my Daughter, similarities were a little too much for me to handle, bowed out quite early
Summer Temptations – A little update from what the game brought in February, this game is really starting to find its feet. Based on dialogue, it looks like this is going full cuckold, though, with humiliation and all the tropes that go with it. I’ll withhold judgment on this until the Cucking begins, though, as I really want to see how the game handles it.
KRWN – Well it seems like this is a remake of a game thats a couple of years old, I wont lie, its a bit of a disapointment – there were lines attributed to the wrong person, a shit load of characters thrown at you and barely any story – playing what little there is of the origional doesn’t help ewither.
Moonripple Lake – I have been playing this since its initial release, and up to recently was on my has potential list. Now release 0.4, the game began to get a bit paranormal for my tastes. With these AI games being a dime a dozen and me already playing multiple others, it was an easy decision to drop this one. Despite the good art, I just know the story will be lost on me.
College Kings – A game that, despite trying so hard not to be Being A Dik, is a soft clone of it regardless. While it is quirky in its own little way, it's overall a boring jaunt through an already saturated market. You can read my thoughts
here
The Adventerous Couple - Another month, another shit update. I won't lie, I'm not even playing this now. I am just downloading it and checking out the gallery. We do seem to be getting to the point of new content now as we slowly creep up and past the endpoint of the original game… I hope my interest will peak again then, but for now, it's still a mess
Boxed in - I played this back in January, and then have been playing the updates as and when I see them. Now the game is finished, I can't really add anything to what I said in my review
here… While the escape room concept is nice, it doesn’t add anything to the family harem concept. There are certainly better games that handle this subject better.
My Daughter's New Lover – I tried so hard with this, unfortunately, the translation here is poor – the genders are incorrectly used among other errors, I wouldn't class it as unplayable, but it was a bit painful to get through
I Love Your Wife – I can't really add anything to what I said last time I played – the game still insists on using colours to highlight who is speaking rather than names. It's a difficult one to get through, though the sharing aspect is beginning now – I’ll give this one 1 or 2 updates to “find itself” before deciding to continue or not
Reclaiming the Lost – I was actually surprised by this one – I go into it more
here in my review, but it's a nice, slow burn of a game. It isn't without its faults, but for now, it's a fine game overall. Nice Mysteries, great characters, and an engaging plot. There's some potential here
Welcome to Port Haven – As AI games go, this one is up there, I think, it's not without faults that are typical of an AI game… Hairstyles change, clothing changes, etc, but for the most part, the images are consistent and there are no extra or too few fingers. The story is at least interesting, rather than going straight into NTR/NTS, our dev has set the couple up to be friends first, so the options for paths are many. I'm quite interested to see where this goes.
Blast From the Past
After being impressed by Domino Beach, I decided to venture into
Become a Rock Star, a game that I had heard mixed things about, maybe tilting more good things than bad… I was disappointed, as you can read about
here.
The Fappies
Best New Game of the Month - This was a hard one and not for the usual reason of the new games being a showcase of nothing, but because we actually had a few games that showcased something. Ultimately, it was down to two, though Moonlight and Price of Desire. Ultimately, though, one's lack of typos and other errors costs it the win. I decided to go with
Moonlight. It's really nice when these New games actually showcase something - this is definitely one to watch.
Best Updated Game of the Month - This is becoming a difficult category to judge, mainly because some of the games I am playing for the first time, and thus, the whole game is getting judged. It might seem a little unfair, but unfortunately, I don't know any other way to do it. Anyway, I was disappointed with a lot of the updates this month; nothing really stood out till the end when I played
Reclaiming the Lost. I was genuinely surprised by this one.
Best Girl in a New Game
Best Girl in an Updated Game
Best Girl from Blast from the Past
Worst New Game - Well, I won't lie, there were only two it could be this month - Elysium and Seductville - it might be my bias against sandbox games here, but I found
Seductville the worst of the two here...
Worst Updated Game - I knew the moment I played this that the game would win this one. But
Ms Denvers was such a disappointing update. There was simply no reason to put the game out in that state. Shocking
