As a professional software developer I can tell you that there are in fact plenty of reasons why it would do so. NONE of them are legitimate from a functionality standpoint for a singleplayer game or in your favor. But they exist.

Well, there might be one. If this game uses that wonky autotranslator that sends each line to google and back again and than you get to wait for 10 seconds for each one to load that would be a legitimate case where it needs you to add an exception. But that's trash for other reasons.

A lot of Unity games do that. They're trying to phone home going 'Hey, new install!' or 'Someone's playing me'. The question is whether they're calling home to the dev or calling home to the trash company, Unity. Doesn't really matter, deny them all!
