Generally, it isn't my thing. Like really-REALLY not. But I can live with it, in case it's done tastefully (and abandon a game if it's too much anatomically accurate). For example, to me it works well in The Proteous Effect, but can't really think of any other games where I found it actually arousing.

Sorry, for the late response as I didn't (still don't) really know how to add to the conversation, but to put it bluntly the lack of appeal simply has to do with the presence of a functioning penis?
I'm not a lesbian, but I have heard the concept that a guy who is attracted to shemales is not gay because he's attracted to the female form (with a dick). To me it makes at least some kind of sense... The question is how important the dick is. A guy giving anal to a shemale can theoretically avoid the dick completely and act as if it wasn't there and he'd be having anal sex with a woman. But I guess with lesbians it doesn't work like that. I could imagine that a shemale would be great for a lesbian because penetrative sex (without a dildo) would be possible.

To me the lack of appeal has to do with the association. The feeling of the real dick, the smell of it, and all the things that make it gross to me. I don't have such negative feelings about strapons, but real penises are no go to me. In games... well, as I said, if it's done tastefully, I can live with it, but even then, I play the game DESPITE it has futa, and not because of it.

I'm a straight guy BTW. I think Shemale and Chicks with Dicks (no offense meant) is a misnomer. Dudes with Boobs would really be more accurate. You triggered by intellectual curiosity here. Have you ever seen photo/video of real life hermaphrodites, and what are your thoughts about them ? (not necessarily in a sexual way, but more in a appealing/disgusting scale)
I mean, they have a dick, but it rarely look like one. As example, I remember seeing one that was longer than mine but also way thinner ; it was more a weird 20cm long for 1cm diameter clitoris. It's the look and feel of them of them for me. It's hard to explain, it's not that they are gross but they don't feel "right" to me, I know it makes no sense. Something about them just looks and feels off. It's a similar feeling I had when I kissed a guy back in my teen years, it just felt "wrong" is the only way I can put it.
It's same with sex toys. I had no idea where to start so our older sister got me a few toys to try out and one of them was a realistic cock and I couldn't use it. It felt wrong. It make sense, at least for me.
It remember me a discussion I once had with my wife. Don't remember how, but once I found on the net a photo of a girl genitalia which was a real piece of art. My wife commented it with something like, "yes... but no". She recognized the effective beauty of the photography, but in the same time, being not appealed by women, she had this wrong feeling when looking at it.
I'm not sure that there's this much difference between straight and homosexual person when it come to the "not liked" genitals. A penis don't disgust me, they aren't gross or anything to my eyes (probably partly because I have one myself), but I have no doubt about it, it's not something for me.
Once again, it make sense for me.
I have nothing against futa, even if there's interactions between male and futa. But in my mind, the futa dick is then more a living strap-on than anything else.
