VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Life of Desmond [v0.9.5.2] [Badvador]

⠀⠀⠀Ok, so the dev decided to troll it's audience with three consecutive choices to reject/accept jerking off a futa, and having to do it anyways, even if you choose "NO" all three times. So I did a little bit of trolling myself and gave this game one star out of five.
⠀⠀⠀Graphics are awful: everything's low res, blurry and low quality. Everyone's hair looks horrible. Characters are overall pretty unappealing, and one of the main love interests (alex) is pretty ugly tbh.
⠀⠀⠀Writing is unengaging to say the least, narrative lacks coherence, events are disconnected and relationships are sudden (sometimes even surprising to the player) and don't progress organically. The dialogue reads like aliens trying to establish contact with each other. Also lots of typos and grammar's terrible. Oh and the fucking party is easily the worst part of the game.
⠀⠀⠀Main character has inconsistent personality: he is feet licking doormat and at the same time a violet psychopath, and often you don't get a choice in the matter. For some reason he needs five tries to open his eyes everytime before waking up. He's also extremely dumb and awkward, defo below 80 IQ.
⠀⠀⠀I might have hinted at this once or twice, but there is very little player agency. There are no choices in many cases where it matters and most choices that are here are simply fake and don't affect anything. Some choices you have no clue the consequences of so you will have to rollback a lot.
⠀⠀⠀Erotic content leave a lot to be desired. 90% of sex scenes have zero build up. Animations are either absent or recorded at 3 fps. Experience is not customizable, MC does whatever the fuck he wants. Scenes are pretty short, usually end where they start. Basically no eroticism.

Another AVN with some good ideas and spicy situations but that leaves a lot to be desired in every technical aspect. Visuals are PS2 level, it reminds me of GTA San Andreas but with much worse lighting and overexposed models. Animations are terrible and the story isn't exactly great either. I do appreciate that the sandbox part is small though, if this was entirely a sandbox game things would probably be much worse.

The only thing going for it is the variety of kinks and models: you have MILFs, there's gay content, shemales and even some crude bestiality. There's even some romance and very well done flashbacks.

The scene in the hot tub with the MILFs is broken and prone to crash. I decided to quit there because I had enough. It's actually a 2 star game but I'm rounding it up for the variety and for those flashbacks.

Visual, not great. I avoided this game due to the reviews on how ugly this is. But after giving it a try. It wasn't that bad and I enjoyed it. The story was decent and fun. I liked it I liked it. I'm interested in the gay stuff which as usual isn't the majority of the content. But it was enough for me to have a good time playing so good stuff.

This is basically My first impressions of the game. I'm not too far into it, but I wanted to share My two cents.

Pros: The characters are likable so far.
I like the music as well, it's peaceful.
It's nice to see that I get plenty of chances to make decisions.

Cons: The graphics are rough. It would be great if the Developer decided to update the models.
And the grammatical errors are all over the place. But it's nothing that should deter you from trying out the game.

All in all, I'm enjoying the experience thus far.

I have to say that, though the game has been through glitchy times, and struggles a bit with English -- I really like it! My quibbles are technical, for the most part (I got used to the strangely primitive art style), but I adore the transgressive quality of the whole thing -- sissification, helping a wheelchair-bound family member find sexual pleasure, etc... what I love is the desperation some of these characters exhibit, and the sex is subsequently hotter, IMO. I was happy to see a new iteration (although I do wish I didn't have to keep going back to the beginning!). Kudos, Badvador!

Edit: Ok to be honest though, the writing is bad, the renders are bad, but it's okay. It's like a solid 6/10.

I have absolutely no clue why anyone rates this game above like a 2? Either way, I'll put as much effort as they did in this AVN into my review: the bare minimum. First off, it's ugly as sin. Ugly as all hell. I have no clue why it looks so bad. Then the writing and dialogue hits you with the follow-up, with some truly irredeemable storytelling going on. These two things are awful throughout. It doesn't just magically go away, the only thing way to avoid it is to not play.

The game def seems to have a lot of promise, but by god the models are nightmarish. It's not just that they're low-poly and ancient models, lots of good games have subpar renders, it's that they're used as if the creator believes they have super-high quality renders. There's way, way too many close-up shots of the characters' faces that do nothing but draw attention to the fact that they all look like demonic abominations, which kills any eroticism in a scene.

The game is not bad, but there is some work to be done. First of all, as most critics note, the work on the models is to make them more realistic, and more natural, pleasant.
As for English, someone can always help with that. For example, I am not a native English speaker, so I use the translator myself and in general I understand the dialogues. So it doesn't bother me)
As for sexual interests, they can be very different and, as in any game, everyone plays the roles that interest him. And interests can be very broad))
The main thing is that there are more options for developing the story and, in each case, immersion in the story.
As for sexual diversity. In fact, sex is not strictly tied to gender and a sexually normal person is always open to various experiments. And what he cannot afford in real life, he loses in similar games for adults. And that's okay.
I give 5 stars to the efforts of the author, who develops his game and invests a lot in it, trying to show different sides of sexuality and relationships.

An excellent but also really interesting game.

The plot (such as it is) is your fairly standard story about a dude returning to some place, reconnecting with people and (upon engaging with them as an adult) discovering that they are all absolutely Down to Fuck. However, this 'plot' is really only a set up for a harem game where a dude works through various relationships with various people.

Aesthetically, the game is not great: The writing is janky, the characterisation is limited, the models are off, and the graphical engine is at least a generation out of date.

What makes this game interesting is the way that it handles the queer stuff, and while that stuff is optional, turning it off means ignoring the meat of the game.

A lot of games that feature trans characters are written from a very hetero-normative perspective in that the trend is always towards having a main love interest despite the fact that you are banging everything that moves.

This vision of human sexuality is open to the inclusion of trans people but there's always some gatekeeping of straightness; there's always a discussion about whether or not you accept that a trans-girl is actually a girl and those the player likes get invited into the straight person club.

This game is not written from a perspective where hereto-normativity is the default. Your first sexual encounters are going to be with cis-girls but your trajectory arcs outwards in the sense that you might want to also hook up with trans-girls and while you're questioning your boundaries, how about a cross-dresser? How about a threesome with two guys and one girl? How about an effeminate guy? How about a non-effeminate guy? How about sucking off a biker who looks like Wolverine?

The boundaries you place on the character's sexuality are entirely of your own choosing and a function of the players' hang-ups and preferences but the game is written from a queer perspective in so far as it empowers you (the player) to make those choices rather than just depositing you in the fortified town of Straightness and allowing you to invite in a few queer people.

Obviously this isn't for everyone and it is going to make people uncomfortable, but I think this game does a pretty good job of presenting people with a fantasy that is embedded in an open and queer vision of sexuality rather than one that is weighed down by the constraints of straightness.

It's pretty mediocre. I think the rating is inflated because of the gay and trans content, unfortunately I am not gay and the trans stuff in this game is aimed towards those who are.

Other than that it's a game with Broken English that hasn't been run through a spell checker a single time, mostly ugly character models and mostly boring characters. There is no real overarching story and I felt like I had very little control of my character

It feels like the dev is trying to make a decent game but I wouldn't recommend it. Although maybe you'd enjoy it if you're into more things than I am

This game had a good story, and a lot of characters to interact with, female, male, femboy, shemale. As far as I can see with my playthroughs the choice is yours if you want to, and how far you will go. There are also multiple storyline's that require hard choices, so multiple playthroughs are necessary to see them all.

The bad are the character models/renders those you can see in the preview pics. But don't write the game off because of this. While they are not the latest and greatest available today, the complete package really makes up for it.

So far so good, I've enjoyed what I've played. If you're Bi like me there's plenty of content in here to keep you happy and stay a truly bi player.

The graphic quality could be improved a little bit, but I'd assume that's a design choice to keep the file size small.

Overall, the game is worth playing and will keep you entertained for a few hours.

let's talk about the story the story is honestly pretty simple it's you typical story about a young man going to studying abroad and coming back home to study in a good schoolit never gets more interesting but it's simple and straight and i love that about porn games i hate porn games that focus so much on telling a great story that they atleast in my opinion butcher the sex scenes you know the most important thing in a PORN game in my opinion many of those games's sex scenes feel boring bland and an afterthought of course there are some games that do it right but in my experience that's mostly not the case so for me this simple story is a good thing

Normally, a VN like this, I take one look at the sample renders and I'm like, "nope!"
But I was intrigued by all the positive reviews, so I checked it out, and I'm glad I did.
Don't get me wrong, this is no hidden masterpiece. It has a number of deep flaws that keep it from the coveted 4 stars for me. But there is definitely something different about this, with its own offbeat charm, and it's very, very erotic.

First, the elephants: It's a VN with choice, and the choices are both non-intuitive and have impacts, so there's desperate need of a walkthru.
Second, the English is terrible, just weird and inconsistent and badly translated. The dev is very good-natured about this, and I don't want devs to be discouraged just because English isn't their native language. But still...
Third, the MC is a sexual omnivore., and I'd say that regular girl-boy stuff is only about half the content. The dev does give you the opportunity to skip the other stuff if you wish. As the poet Terence said, "nothing human is alien to me," but I also know what I like, and there's a lot of here I skip. Chacun son gout and your mileage may vary.

Finally, these are not pretty renders, even by Virtamate standards. The aunt is straight out of Pink Flamingos. The gf is clearly a blow-up doll. And the gf's mother looks like they have to hide sharp objects when she's around.
There's oddness all over the place. Are they at high school or college? (actually, it's the lycee, which is like college prep). How about when the MC goes over to the gfs house and meets the family - the second time - and it's like they've never met before? Or the party, with the boys sitting in one room and the girls dancing in the other?

Okay, so after taking such a big dump on everything, why do I like this VN?
Reason one: Patti Smith.
Reason two: So, although the assets are ugly, the way they're used is very skillful. There's a scene, early on, when the gf's mom looks back at the MC and blows him a kiss. It's super erotic, and the kind of small, intriguing detail that a lot of better-resourced VNs totally miss. There are many of these little moments, and what they do is lift all the flaws and transform them into a weird and very interesting little world.
The erotic scenes are in general very well-composed, and there are enough VNs out there with way more beautiful assets but in comparison the sex-scenes are snore-fests.
I would suggest that this VN is a good example of how interesting situations and good composition beat out (ahem) beautiful renders any day.
Anyways, the way this thing is going... you feel like it could go anywhere. That's kinda neat, too.

This game is quite interesting, the graphics may not be the best but i liked the story, it's kinda diverse, you can choose what do and what persona the main character will act and there is many fetish to exploit.

This game was a pleasant surprise from the normal setup of these games the characters were relateable and the plot engaging. Only downsides is of course the poor quality of character designs and graphics. Reminds me of old sim games. And also what in the world is the "CLANG" if you could remove the constant "CLANG" words I have no idea what it is for but that really drives me up the wall.

This game has been a pleasant surprise so far. At first I thought it would be the usual str8 game with bait minimal gay content, but turns out the gay content is rather sweet and well developed.

I'm not bothered by the graphics as much as other people seem to, but I do have one thing I hope gets improved for the final product. The story, MC and most characters are quite interesting and the ammount of variation in content as well as quantity makes this a good game to give a try to.
