To be honest, this is why the adult gaming industry is mostly Japanese, who have dominated that side for years.
Inustry? It's like the BMW of adult games is still developing matchbox cars, we're at that level.
Japanese adult games mostly boil down to VNs, RPGM and flash games (with exceptions), it's all Japanese with no language support, often Japan exclusive also. There's not much of an "industry" to speak of but even that's contained within Japan for the most part.
And western adult gaming industry is pretty much nonexistent. It's basically an untapped market (on an industrial level), which is why so many amateur "upstarts" patreon their games and fail, usually, as he above described it.
And then again, it's all matchbox cars.
There's really not much "domination" going on because of that, so if a reasonably sized video game company started developing (relative) quality adult games in a timely fashion and support global distribution (which won't happen, not any time soon), it'd easily dominate the market, Japanese included, because those games would be real road vehicles compared to these matchbox toys.
Though if that
somehow happened, then likely some competitors would follow suit, and likely many indie devs would end up working for one of these companies.
