As for Eternum winning everything, well, after results from qualifications, we can have another polls for popular games to choose categories, those games should be actually nominated to (3-4). Sure it's a lot of voting, but for qualifications, we don't need many people to vote.

Hello, forgive me for bothering anyone, but I have somewhat off topic question, if it is okay please. I noticed that several people already discussed several off topic things, so I hope I don't make anyone angry, but this thread and people in it have been always so kind and helpful, so I figured there is no harm in trying. If it is inappropriate for this thread then tell me, Padorublad3 and I will delete my posts, I don't want to be a nuisance.
I wanted to ask, if you guys take some special measures to ensure safety of your PC? I fully understand that downloading anything, especially things on forums like these is always a risk, but of course I always try to upgrade my security.
Now I have downloaded like dozens of games from this forum and so far I didn't have any issues so far (atleast as far as I know).
But now I am so extremely hyped for Eternum, but I must say I am holding back, because it was leaked by new account and few people reported virus even though it seemed like false positive (I understand it was new account to most likely avoid a ban). I saw that several people scanned it and said that it is safe, but after I saw Padoru mention that there can be viruses launched from Ren'Py code at later date, I am now extremely paranoid. xD
I obviously use AV + Windows Defender. I scan every file before launching it and I do scans regularly. From what I observed it seems that most malicious uploads are detected within few days so it seems okay, but I would appreciate any tips or anything since several people like Padoru seem to have much more knowledge about these things.

Always good to ask, one thing to note first.
Scans don't do anything with how the recent waves of malware here work. They might be good to have for other things, but scans alone are not enough.
Important threads for you:
Games with Malware found. The OP of this thread has all games with confirmed malware found in their game threads and when those files where up. Check by occasionally to see if a file you downloaded ended up here.
Edit: Also only ever download from game thread OPs, never request threads or user posts.
Sandboxie setup guide. This thread tells you how to setup a sandbox with Sandboxie Plus in Windows. You should totally be doing this!
It is very little work for how much security it gives you. It is not 100% safe, as nothing ever is, but it is like 99% safe and totally works against everything we have seen so far.

Well,that fag delivered malware by 2 different ways:
1. Hiding the exe inside of images,you can add any bytes to any png/jpg file and it still works as an usual image file. I personally tested it on my pc,combined img + exe and built it and executed with renpy launch. However, ai says most AV nowadays will immediately notice it,so here av should work
2. Obfuscation,the fag hides the line of code in files,and that line connects to his server,downloads malware,and then executes it. That's the way he mostly used. And here,it's a bit harder to spot. Usually,it comes with set timer,that starts downloading in a day. And here,av might miss it,becuase there is no virus itself in the file,but should prevent downloading when it started,there were cases like that already.
So,to make it more secured,as Magny said, you need to use sandboxie, in both cases, virus needs internet connection,in first case to send your stolen data,and in second case,to download and then send your data,so disable internet connection in a sandbox is the most important thing you need to do.
As of me,besides sandboxie + av, if I'm installing mods,I manually check the code

Hi, loved your list, but I think most of the top tier are new games, and doesn't have that much content in them. I think maybe the content available should be a crucial factor as well, but scrolling through your list I don't see many comments about that. It'd be great to scroll through the list and pick a game that already has plenty of contents in it to play tho. Thank you for your list anyway, awesome sharing!

Well,it's not like there are many hs games that have a lot of content
Majority of them get abandoned after a few updatesTho,there is unsaid rule regarding amount of content
1. 1 update - only B tier
2. 2 updates - A/B
3. 3 updates A/B/S,
Overall,there are some exceptions,because some vns have 1 update that bigger than 2 updates combined of another game
Eden,it's actually in the OP,and the dev himself hangs out here pretty often

If you want my genuinely honest opinion on it here we go: Eden is kinda like a playground for my co-dev F and I. We created this game to learn how to create visual novels as well as "force" me to learn how to render (I wouldn't be motivated to just learn if I'm not putting it to something). That said, I also had 0 experience writing dialogue before or even pacing a story like this, so the early parts are a mess. The game starts to get good after you meet the girls and the quality just increases more and more as the game develops and we apply the feedback we have gotten. Also, if you don't like puzzles I'd recommend waiting for us to finish 0.5's development since we're implementing a way to skip all puzzles and QTEs.
Now, for the things I believe we do well: I do think the characters have now become more lifelike and follow fun tropes. Without getting too cocky, I do think our visuals in 0.5 will be above a pretty large amount of games. I've taken a lot of time to learn from the dev of Divine Intervention on how to navigate renders (paused our sessions so that I could focus on finishing 0.5), which has been absurdly helpful. Finally, I'm getting a lot of writing advice from the Wild Cats editor/writer/wtv tf he is. I do think we have something that's becoming more and more special, so if you can stomach the awkwardness of the first hour or so of gameplay, I guarantee you'll like it.
