Engine switch usually means ''check the game 6 months later'' but I'm believing in this dev.
The game was not suited for renpy anyways so the engine change is justified.

Hey, fully aware it could take that long. It's not like he's experienced in both engines.


But after the utter hell he just went through implementing the touch controls into the night crawling, and knowing the kinds of things he wants to do in later updates it would actually take longer to not switch and instead hammer renpy into doing things.

saw this game get bumped to the top of releases with its 0.3 update. at first i was fucking gobsmacked that its at 0.3 at 3 years, thats 1 update a year. but i wont act like i know what the dev cycle is like. if anything, im really liking these screenshots a lot more than whats featured on the main post. feels different, has its own flavor rather than just mindlessly ripping off inusuku. the ren'py engine choice is weird, but at least its good to hear the dev is still somewhat actively working on it. ill be observing with bated breath.

The dev is working on the game, but it's his first game so progress is very slow.
It would have made more sense to make a simpler game first and use that experience to be able to make the game quicker.
However, making a more ambitious game means more people will give patreon money.

The hell he went through getting night crawling working on renpy has made him abandon renpy, that version won't be updated anymore.The final 0.3 version will be on a new engine precisely because renpy stopped being a fun thing to push the limits of and instead became a headache to deal with.

As long as the development gets smoother and easier its all worth it.
Also trying to finish the game with renpy would probably drive him insane so its better for both the game and his mental health.
