I would say there is a good amount of content to start and get use to the game mechanics and such. it really is a good atmospheric game. So if you feel like playing a dark fantasy like that go ahead at least to know what you are doing see if you like it or notShould I bother playing this right now or should I wait until 1.0 comes out?

There's loads of content and re-playability already. Not to mention the difficulty curve is very high. And technically you can mod it as well.
