Man this world is fucked up also the leaders are almost moronically corrupt I mean why force people to live underground rather than say making them work for their food? also Why do the squatters live in the city rather than in the forest? there is a ton of food in the forest and so long as they stay in the eastern rain forest they will not be attacked by goblins it is very easy to make bank selling herbs and eating a balanced diet of grapes, mushrooms and rabbit meat.

Uh did you forget that the island is in the middle of a monster invasion? The squatters in the sewers are almost certainly refugees from Sybaris who only recently arrived. They're in the city because the refugee camps outside are an anarchic mess and the forests are full of goblins and wild animals. Wild boars alone would absolutely shred an unarmed refugee, and if you stay in the rainforest for multiple days you're almost certain to get an Orkind event, especially after world danger gets above ~15.

Bruh! That's the premise of the entire game. The description on the first page literally says =
"Cold... Grim... Unforgiving... Deadly... This is the world of LonaRPG.
Play the story of a young woman named Lona, who must survive in this gothic and cruel world.
Explore a grimdark, twisted, and open world where one little mistake can cost Lona her life..."
So think of this as the hentai version of Darkest Dungeon that has been made more difficult due to the rape, clunky controls, not too good optimization, not a turn based game and the fact that you can't have a party of 4 people.
P.S. I'm not comparing the game mechanics of this with Darkest Dungeon. I'm comparing only the difficulty.

Money doesn't transfer from area to area. Once you change area, it's gone. And there's a reason for that.
Here's an example (from the inn):
You have about 200TP going spare and you already have a room key. You go to sleep, your remaining TP should still be there.
The second you leave the inn (changing area), it's gone for good.
If Mama kicks you out, that's it. Your TP is gone in that instance as well.

What't the reason? Besides adding an extra degree of difficulty I can't see the point.
Noer's going down the toilet and the only way they can keep things running is through barter and direct trade.
If any one person was allowed to just accrue wealth, they wouldn't remain alive for very long.
That said, you can build a huge stack of coins. This is something you should do after making all your purchases; turn as many remaining TP into the highest value copper/gold coins you can.

I would estimate TP is more of a penny substitute. You are intended to lose on all trade deals (sell for less than you purchase), but you can not lose on a penny (there is no fractional penny). Since the intent of the coin based trade system is to allow for inventory dynamics to be applied to wealth (losing inventory, depositing inventory), and since pennies aren't workable (since there is no loss in trade value, players would just horde pennies rather than higher coins), TP is necessary.

It seems eccma tried to resolve the issue by converting TP to coins in some scenarios (prostitution leads to coins + TP (TP is the underage of coins)). I imagine a workable solution might be to convert all TP to coins on map exit at the going rate.

PS: There are probably constraints regarding {having hundreds or thousands of items} that {having TP exist as penny coins} would run in

If you think about TP like a verbal agreement and coins like actual money, it makes sense.
You actually CAN'T buy coins all the time. You need enough TP to trade in for them.
Only when that person has enough TP to trade in for them. And they do have some weight so financial success is mitigated.

It was a little annoying to me at first as well, but I got used to it and I can see the benefit to the game of having an ethereal form of money as opposed to something where you can just grind cash on trash mobs for 40+ hours and instantly buy all the best stuff.

Not exactly true. World danger is growing and after some time in the game there will chance of being attack by goblins and undead in forest. And there still high possibility of being on a road. At least in the city guards patrolling streets.
