[R>Artist 2D] Share Unpaid Looking for 2D pixel and concept/2dCG artist(s) for an RPG Maker game!

Project:

- The Four Lords: Our silent protagonist, Theodore, had his throat crushed in his youth by the Lord of Souls as the Lord came to murder the protagonist’s parents. Being found nearly dead by a mercenary and former general of the King’s army, Theodore is nurtured back to life. Burning with the lust for vengeance, Theodore sets out into the world to find the Lord of Souls and kill him. On the way, he encounters some peculiar characters, a busty elf, an undead god and a homeless magician with a gambling addiction, forming a rag-tag party, each member having their own mission and Lord to kill.

The game will feature quite a few systems, from upgrading and crafting gear to class advancements, intriguing magic systems and more. (Details can be inquired about)
An important part will be character and world building, being able to interact with/inspect objects in the environment and talking to party members to find out more about them.

For now, we want to do a little prototype as a proof of concept. Systems are being worked on. Main story is pretty much finished. Quests and level design are being worked on.

While the game won’t necessarily be a porn game (since we want to release it on Steam), I believe we can work something out and add lewd scenes and maybe a patch for some naughtier scenes. There will be fan-service opportunities.

I am the Project Lead and Writer. We got a Programmer and a Musician as well.



Looking for:

- 2D Pixel Artist

- 2D Character Designer and Concept Artist

- 2D Artist for CGs and (non-pixel) Assets used in the game

(Not necessarily looking for 3 different people, just people who can fill those roles)


Employment Type:

- Shared once released on Steam. Until then, or in case the project is a failure, it may remain unpaid.

The revenue will be split as follows: 15% of the revenue goes into a budget for the next project. With this money, I will be able to pay for software licences and workforce for future endeavours. Rest will be split evenly between everyone who participated.



Work commitment:

- Part Time. Being a university student myself, there may be times (particularly exam times) in which I would have to put a hold onto the project as well. Deadlines would be relatively relaxed, but do keep in mind that the art might be the biggest bottleneck for the project and we will have to take steps forward at a reasonable pace.

Job Description:

- 2D Pixel Artist: Some assets may need to be custom made, such as monster/boss/character sprites, but also (potentially) items, world objects, icons and some pixel animations (characters moving or sitting, for example). If possible, we could look into altering the sprites depending on equipment and items.

- 2D Character Designer and Concept Artist: A critical role for the project, which will bring the character descriptions to life. It is mostly a medieval / fantasy setting, so there will be armours, swords, monsters. Expect to work very closely with me as we tackle on the project.

- 2D Artist for CGs: “Cutscenes” (which are still images with text for important plot points) and potential scenes (2DCGs) for fan-service or other cool images that will be displayed in a gallery. The ability to draw gore would be appreciated, but I can take an image and add the gore as well, so it is not strictly required.

The same person can tackle all the roles if they can or desire. The 2d pixel artist will have less to do, at least until we get the concept art going and I see what custom assets would be needed for the game itself. If there is any down time, we can always think about how to alter sprites based on equipment, so there is that.



Additional comments:

- Since I am mostly using default RPG Maker MV assets for the environment, pixel art in that style would minimize our work, without having to change many assets. The sprites of the characters, NPCs and enemies should be custom.

- Character sheets are done, describing everything from looks to colour pallet. My descriptions tend to be on the longer side, with symbolism added here and there, so that should be considered. There is still a lot of freedom involved into the character designs themselves.

- There is a little demo video of one of the first dungeons that can be encountered, to get a sense of what we are going for. (Game is still work in progress and it’s more of a proof of concept) I will share link to those interested when they message me on discord.

- Uni is still going on, but the semester will end at the end of the month. Until then, I will be holding this little recruitment phase before jumping into the action. We can use this time to also get accustomed to a good work-flow.
