Since finding this forum and all it has to offer a few years back, I have enjoyed so many good adult games I have already forgotten half of them lmao, still I loved playing them and seeing how each developer brought their own twist to their worlds really inspired me to give it a crack myself. As it would be my first game I would like to try making a Real Porn based game, considering I do not have the talent for 3D modelling or drawing (yet hopefully) and thought this could be a good first for me. Ramble over, but I would love to hear from the community here that enjoys these games - or if not - the people that do not enjoy these types of games, I would like to ask: why?

For people who enjoy these games, tell me exactly what you love to see in these games? What attracts you to choosing one game over the other? What are some ideas/stars you would love to see in a Real Porn game: any underappreciated stars, or stars that make you play any game almost immediately. List anything you want!

For the people who seem to shy away from these kind of games, besides not enjoying real porn in a game, what are some tropes and reoccurring ideas that just bug you? I would love to hear how you would improve these games.

So while I typically will say any idea is fine, that's not always true. Like this fucking guy is the pinnacle of bad ideas for porn games.

I can't recommend you make a game using real images, there are so many issues with it from inconsistencies at a design standpoint, the fact that people will label you as low effort and low quality, not to mention legal problems if one of the actors learns about you and doesn't want their face used in your game.

Learn to draw, you don't need to be good and to be honest you can get away with a lot of mistakes. While I don't know much about digital art and never taking the time to learn, the memes for learning how to draw are actually really good starting places.

  1. - Facial expressions, basic figure drawing. A lot of people like to quote his anatomy ratios as law but that's not true. (I also attached this pdf since the link is to a website created by one of this guy's cult followers)
  2. - Anatomy, literally whenever you struggle with it you always refer back to this books and it sets you straight. If you can make it through this you'll be pretty happy with your results
Don't trace, read what they have to say. Make a pixiv and start looking at things that are inspirational to you. It's a really good in between place. While I don't practice 2d right now i've done a small amount in the past, I do read about art from time to time and here are some extra places to go.

Just fyi, most devs are in the same boat as yourself. That's why they use things like DAZ or HS. Because you don't need talent for modelling or drawing and instead you just have to learn how to pose premade models to create scenes.
So don't shy away from it yet, download DAZ or Honey select and mess around with it to see what is possible, read some guides online if you still need help and you might discover that it is a lot easier than you might believe it to be.

The issue with real porn is that your game will be very limited to the videos you find. Either you will have to write the story around existing scenes or you will have to scour the web in search of a video that matches your planned scene with similar looking actresses both are going to be your achilles heel and it might worth exploring other options first.

I appreciate the guides and cautions given. I would definitely love to learn how to draw, however as a current student I don't think this is simply possible for me as I can't really dedicate that much time to it. My idea behind using Real Porn for the game is one to draw people to game using familiar faces, and I am overall just quite happy with that niche. Secondly, as this is my first game I would be focused on the story and gameplay loops I could make rather than focusing 100% on just scenes. That is what I enjoy about them and the build up and grind.

Interesting you talk about legal troubles, do you have any examples of people coming under fire for using Pornstars in their games? I doubt mine would blow up like that, and I don't intend to make a profit off of it at all. Just curious as I definitely don't want to get into legal trouble.

Yeah a while back I tried experimenting with Daz3D and found it a little challenging, definitely a learning curve, but certainly easier than something like Blender. The problem I had with that was creating unique characters that I felt like would bring something new. I know that quite ironic as I would use Real Porn here, but I don't feel like I could create compelling enough characters/scenes regardless if my story and gameplay were top-notch: and I know personally bad modelling and lighting throws me off a 3D game almost immediately.

It would take a lot of experimenting and searching to find the right scenes sure, in that regard I would have to be careful with it all but I would still like to give it a shot.

My 5 cent will not be what you asked for :D sorry, but its more a generel share of expirience and options regarding game making with DAZ3D and Renpy. You can adjust my tips to any other art creations category easily.

Making a game is alot of work - specially if you are new at it all. One guy on youtube, Thundon Games (Now: ) has everything from Daz3d art making, renpy coding and even tips regarding making adult novels in renpy. Thats just a general tip anyhow.

Research popular tags and ideas - but dont seek them in a post :) My tip for you is to go to latest updates, watch the top games based on rating, views and downloads. Check all time and last 6 months to get a feel of what games trends. Write it ALL down and make sure to see if there are a difference in trends from the games of the type you are going to make and other games. I recommend you make a game with a story that you want to tell, but it doesnt hurt if some of the top tags matches your story. Just dont shape the game around the most popular trends, just because you hope for popularity.

The reason i suggest this, is because you will be scarily surprised of how popular the incest tag is (its like the top tag of all times) and if you are going to make a game with a tag you might not like, then you are not going to like making your game. (joke: im worried for the scat game creators). So make a google excel sheet and start making yourself a statistic overview.

Extra little tip: You can filter the games after 6 months and the tag search bar adjusts as well with all the tags for the last 6 months(of recent updates). It will show you ALL tags, but also all the tags from the games that never past demo release. This is the lazy method, but also the more unprecise one.

Im sure a skilled programmer outthere could make a webscraper to gather all the tags ;) (If one makes it, please let me see the code of how it was done xD)

And dont forget the importance of a good story - find your story/plot line, a main protagonist and maybe an antagonist or potiential crisis :) build around that - not around the fetishes. If you make a visual novel, your story is at least 50% of it, because even if the art is good, the reader will sit "this is so unrealistic and lazily done".

If you make a sandbox/grind game - make your framework and have your story ready, before you focus on the story.
Make it work for you in such a way, that when you release your demo or first release, you dont have to worry about coding functions - you can simply add scenarios. Again, Link in the top to a great renpy programmer that has 3! different code alongs with all the functions you ever need in a decent Renpy game. And you even learn to code in python.

Lastly, but in my opinion most important: - dont get started doing this for the money.
Very few creaters gets to live of this and for most its mainly pure luck that they got popular at the right time. Due to ALOT of halfarsed games that quited half way through, people are less likely to support new projects, before they have shown stability regarding releases.

I got into it, because im a perv and wanted to tell my own stories. I think ive made ~2000 renders in my time, which aint alot and most aint worth mention. But i have fun.

Have you tried koikatsu or honey select? It is even easier than DAZ because you have a character creator tool, so you can still create different characters without knowledge of 3D modelling and they also have a studio tool to create renders, animations and pose them around.

But yeah, if you still prefer live action porn just go for it, there are pros and cons of everything so it really is on you on what your goal is with this game.

I'm not going to take the effort to write it but I've made a lot for myself, i'm not really sure what you're wondering about with tags but this should help you figure it out.
  • Start in linux by downloading a plaintext copy of a page using wget.
  • Grep the page for whatever code is used to tag games.
  • Set yourself up to fill out anything you need in your query with formfind (which you get from cURL).
  • Use | to filter data from one command to the next, using cut -d -f to clean it up.
  • Run a simply for loop to repeat this, adding to your url's page number until there is no longer a new page number
If you need to click on a page to go into and grab a games tags for some reason, its pretty much the same but you'll use a cut -d -f to find the links you want, then let your script connect to those pages and grab their tags.

I've also never attempted to destroy a websites bandwidth in the same way you want to. It seems like a solid way to get banned tbh. I rarely pop open python anymore, but you'll want to move all this code into there in some way or another, and use a coroutine to delay execution on each loop for both yourself and other users on this site.

This script might generate a lot of trash. After using >> to append the data you got from cutting fields, you want to use rm to delete your files

Thanks for the help and guides as well! Some great pointers there to consider. See a brief idea for my game would be a mix of content from many different Real Porn games, I will list them and combine everything I like (not copy), just to list a few off of my head, I like the map layout and navigation as well as event indicators in Paradise Found as well as the mini games to level skills and earn money in X-Change Life. It would be built in either Sugarcube with Twine or Java, but I'd prefer building from the ground up for flexibility.

Ren'py would be a good fit for me as I have previously coded in Python and understand the language well enough I'd say. I'll give these videos a watch, thanks for the link!

And I 100% would create the framework first, I want to make sure navigation, mini-games, event triggering and simple things like time all work well before I'd even implement the story and scenes.

Also call me a degen but I'm a fan of the incest tag so I have no problem catering there :LOL:

For me I like the Koikatsu/HS models, however it is not something I want to do currently, and if I ever abandon this idea or move onto a new game that could definitely be an avenue I'm willing to pursue.

For my actress picks, I'm definitely gonna create a table and try to find how many scenes they all have to see how flexible I can be with them. Another thing a lot of games do is to cut parts out of a scene and unlock them when you progress, allowing you to get more out of it, which would be something for me to consider.

No I 100% agree with you here, I'm not looking to do this for money, especially on my first game since I have nothing to show for. Just want to pursue adult game creation as a hobby and look to contribute a game or two if I can as a way of saying thanks lmao.

I don't know of any examples, but unless you paid for the images - as in either are or hired the photographer or otherwise purchased usage rights - you have no legal right to use them. Which means you're already operating on the assumption that 10 nobodies are going to play your game and that'll be the start and end of it.

So why even use graphics at that point?

Use TWINE or something, do a text only game. At that point, the only limitation is what you can put on a page.

I might not agree with all tags, but i try not to trash those i dont like ^^ I dont like incest, but i play the games anyway and tries to turn my eyes from whats going on.

Im personally a fan of some of the more unrealistic and not too popular tags, so i try not to judge.

With Scat as the exception. That shit belongs nowhere xD
