Strictly speaking yes you are correct.
I agree that the story is written using the boyfriend in the first person, but 'Protagonist' is ' the leading character or one of the major characters in a play, film, novel, etc.' but the boyfriend is just a participant. It is the two sisters who are doing all the actions while he is virtually just a prop, he could just as well be a dildo.
