I wasn't able to include everything I had planned here, as there were quite a few game bugs and requests from fans, which I always include in updates anyway, but since there were more of them this time, I decided to tackle them on a larger scale.
The first major thing is the addition of a quest log and story progression to the game. Even from the beginning of the game, when the story was basically “hey, I'm Saya, go talk to Vanya, and that's it,” there were opinions that the game was not clear and it was easy to get lost, which is always caused by skipping dialogues.
I'm not really a fan of putting a big exclamation mark over the heads of every NPC and quest location, as in some RPG games, but if it would improve the game and suit most players better, I'll think about it, as with everything the fans suggest.
The journal is turned on and off with the J key, this information has also been added to the control graphics in the game, I was wondering if it should appear on its own at the start of the game, now it's not there, and I don't plan to make a message appear every time the task changes, or the log itself, so as not to annoy players who don't get lost in the story with messages every 5 seconds.
So this is only for people who skip dialogues. It's a game based on and modeled after visual novels, etc. There is a lot of dialogue and there will be more, that's the type of game it is and I'm not going to change that, but I'm not an idiot, I know that most players probably don't come there to read my 20 pages about the past of one character and would rather have the character's story contained in one sentence, as in most games of this type.
The journal itself has been planned for a long time, since the first cases of confusion in the game's story appeared, but not for now, because recently all the comments about the game have been about problems with the story, which forced me to introduce this type of solution now.
There will probably be a few changes and improvements, so if anyone is still getting lost and there is a lack of more specific information about the story progression, let me know and I'll just add it.
In addition to problems with the story, players were also bothered by a lot of bugs. Recently, there have been a few more of you, so additional comments are appearing and game errors are being caught that need to be eliminated.
As always, I'm not sure if I've managed to fix all of them, after more than 500 playtests, going through the entire game from scratch and repeating one action over and over again, such as leaving the player's house and loading the game, I haven't encountered these problems, so it would seem that they have been fixed, but Unity can be surprising, and even with very simple tasks like moving a character to the left, once in every 50 times it just won't do it.
So, as always, I assume that it won't be perfect. If anyone has encountered the above-mentioned problems and still encounters them, please let me know so that I know that further action is needed.
I'm not going to go into detail about specific problems here, as no one cares about the technical side of the game, which is tedious and boring.
Another thing players asked for was a new camera system in old scenes, ever since it appeared in the scene with Eli. As I explained many times in relation to the Vanya scene, there aren't as many problems and errors with Yuni, so it was finally added there. I changed the camera positions and rendering settings a bit and implemented more flexible camera control, as in the case of Eli.
The next recurring request from you was to add the ability to change the resolution. there were problems with the UI and on unusual resolutions not everything looked as it should, I added 20 different resolutions, including even the less commonly used ones. If any are missing, please let me know and I can add them. Another good aspect of this type of solution is the technical side, or more specifically, optimization.
Since we will be able to reduce the resolution below the one typically assumed in the game, it should run better on older hardware. A pro tip here is that if you set it to the lowest resolution, you will have practically a PlayStation 1 retro version of my game, not exactly, but a similar feeling.
The last of the major changes you requested was the addition of the option to skip erotic scenes. This feature was also planned, but perhaps it should have been included in the game earlier. I realize that most people would probably prefer a fully free camera, with the ability to zoom in and out, rewind and fast-forward scenes as desired, set the position and pace, and many other options.
I can't do everything at once, and many of these solutions probably wouldn't suit this type of game, but this game will surprise you more than once, and after a while it will be difficult to define it with just a few genres.
As much as I'm not a fan of adding a camera that we'll be flying around the entire scene during erotic scenes, there will be such a system in another interesting system planned for the game that I'm sure everyone will like, but that's not what we're talking about now.
With the X key, and this information is also in the game, we skip the erotic scene as soon as it starts, in case it turns out that a scene that seems to suit our tastes contains elements, positions, etc. that we don't like, we don't have to stare at it for its entire duration.
This is a new option and I didn't have enough time to refine it, so there may be some bugs. Let me know if something isn't working right and I'll try to fix it.
As I write this, I was supposed to reduce the time in the erotic scenes with Eli. I remember changing something right after the last update, but I was supposed to balance it out even more. I forgot about it, so it will probably be in the next update.
I know that icons marking erotic scenes and important story branches didn't always work as they should, and could be confusing, with players arguing whether they should be bigger, smaller, above the button, etc.
They have been fixed and are now part of the button, so there should be no more confusion on this issue.
A few new models have been added to the village, along with slight changes to the environment, more interactive items, etc. The entire update was supposed to be based on a much larger number of interesting things, items, and places added to the game, but fixing the game is also important and cannot be overlooked.
This will be developed further soon, although it is important to add erotic elements to the game, including a scene with Yash and a new character that was announced some time ago, preferably with a new environment, story, etc.
So, nothing left to do but keep working
Sorry for posting in this form and without specific screenshots, it's been a very difficult month for me, but you have nothing to worry about, work on the game continues as usual.
Thank you all for your support, comments, game reviews, and everything else. It means a lot to me, and I hope you will continue to look forward to future game updates.
Version 0.0.8B will be released in a month, as always.
