I was pleasantly surprised with this game and am happy that I came across it and gave it a try.

This game is one of the best I've played on F95Zone! It is a near masterpiece!

Pros

• Some areas of the game are underdeveloped: bouncer content, Katie dueling, Molly sex, Chloe sex, Bella Sex, Dark alley, Elsewhere creatures

Cons - Main Complaint - (!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!)
I really hate to mention this but the main problem I have with the game is the sex scenes/events.

25% are good
25% are acceptable
50% are bad

There doesn't seem to be any consistency with them. This can be good in certain circumstances but not in this case.

My main complaint with many of them is that there is little to no foreplay. One minute you are flirting with the person and the next the player has his dick inside her already. The scenes often are very short and are over before you expect them to be.

For example, the first time the player has sex with Katie, it happens super fast and is over quickly and Katie has three orgasms just from the short fuck session. Contrast that with the first night Emily sleeps overnight in your bed and you have sex. You spend a lot more time with foreplay and sex, yet Emily doesn't even have one orgasm. This happens multiple times when you have sex with Emily (no orgasms for Emily).

Some of the scenes feel like they were written by a porn star and others like the author doesn't understand how sex works in real life. So some scenes are overly "porn star" like and others feel really amateurish.

For example, when the player has vaginal sex with Molly for the first time, taking her virginity, he breaks her hymen, and then she begs him to fuck her harder and deeper? Virgins are very sensitive and tight their first time. It goes on and the player starts hitting Molly's cervix, her first time having vaginal sex. The player doesn't have a small cock either. This is an example of when I say, "the author doesn't understand how sex really works in real life." Vaginal sex is nearly always painful for a virgin. Things are being stretched (vaginal walls and muscles) that have never been stretched before.

Most people like more build-up to sex and more foreplay. 25% of the sex scenes are good so I know the author is capable of doing it. I've played a lot of games on this site and have contributed to some of them so I am not new to adult themed games.

There are only a couple of sex scenes with animation. I wish this would be greatly expanded.


Final Thoughts
Keep in mind that the author is doing 90% of game superbly and expertly! Most everything in the game is done very well! I enjoyed this game very much!

I rate the game 4.5 stars, but since I can't, I'm giving the author the benefit of the doubt due to the superb gameplay and character development.

I highly recommend this game and encourage everyone to give it a try!

I am not sure why I have only now gotten around to reviewing this game, but in short, it is excellent. It is more than deserving of it's spot among the top games. Droid puts so much work into the game with bug fixes being a nearly daily occurrence and constant new content updates and new plot lines to follow.

Here are some of the things I love about this game:

Story:

The story is the shining star of this game, it constantly evolves and changes throughout the course of the game and always leaves you wanting more. It is in the genre of urban fantasy and reminds me a lot of the author Terry Pratchet, I cannot wait for future acts and for more development, especially for book 2!

Characters:

The characters in this are fantastic, they all feel distinct and interesting with their own unique backgrounds and traits, you would think that each of them has a separate writer that solely focuses on them, that's how consistent and amazing they are. My favourite character is Katie btw!

Poker:

While the poker is not my favourite part of the game, it is the part that I am most impressed by, I have played so many games with god-awful mini-games in between that are necessary to progress, the poker in this game is fun and enjoyable and it makes you want to play it in order to level up and such! Top-notch job Droid!

Lewdity:

The lewd scenes in this game are great, they definitely aren't the highlight, but feel useful to the story and not just some one off fun, which there is a bit of but mostly in the side quests! The lewd scenes however should not be the reason that you play this game, the amazing story should be!

Content:

So far the game has 97 days. About 3 days out of every 7 has more story content in it and the rest of the week is left for you to do side quests and level up your character, you never feel bored and there is never a slow moment! I would estimate that the main story in this game probably has about 5 hours worth of content, and that would be if you weren't levelling up your character at all. The side quests are probably 2 hours worth and the levelling up and playing poker is probably about 2 hours! overall you get to about 9-10 hours of content if you are playing through it quickly and skimming over most of the text, if you want to take in the amazing story you will get something like 15 hours of playtime out of it!

Overall this game absolutely deserves the 5/5, it has the best story out of any game I have played and everything else in the game are within a hair's length of perfect. Well Done Droid!

Really fun to play an a great story. I always enjoy playing love of magic, there's something in it for everyone from lewd scenes to combat and making yourself the optimal build. However even for someone who doesn't get the hang of poker the game is very user friendly with an auto option and hints on what card to play. Not having the most optimal build is fine as well once you get the hang of it, and the game really eases you in.

Sex scenes could be perhaps be a slightly more sexier but otherwise the game is great. All the characters grow on you and you find yourself completely invested in the story meanwhile even after each act is complete, there's always more side content to try and find.

I'd recommend Love of Magic to anyone who enjoys roleplaying games like that from Bioware but who also want the reward of lewd scenes. Definitely a game to play!

As of 5.7b I am madly in love with this game. Do yourself a HUGE FAVOR And play this story and enjoy it. All of the women in this game are all just beautiful. They all have their own little personal touches and kinks, wants, needs, and desires.

The Poker game for battles is a cool oddly fun part of the game too but overall I Recommend you to try this story out too.

This game is so well-written I kind of forgot it was supposed to be a porn game at times. I'm not a huge fan of the poker mechanics but they are definitely unique, and they don't get in the way too much if you don't want to use them. The character designs are magnificent, and the game scales to feel epic as hell. As a bonus, the soundtrack is top notch, too. I almost never notice the sound in games like this, but I found this one compelling.

Great fantasy Story, it could be a great RPG campaign. Good and charming characters. Funny card system to play during combats.
The sex scenes are not so genious, but the general quality results in a amasterpiece game.

This is one of the few western erotic games with writing compelling enough that I would enjoy the game even if it contained no erotic elements. The storyline is actually exciting and interesting. The characters are cool, and the girls especially are very likable in their own ways. Furthermore, the actual gameplay is uniquely good. It's not very complicated or anything but it requires some thought and keeps the game from getting boring. The renders are pretty good, but that's not really what makes me love the game.

Gotta warn yall, on the spectrum of porn games this is 95% game 5% porn. It's about as much of a porn game as Mass Effect is (alright, maybe a little more than Mass Effect). I didn't manage to jerk off to it at all. Doesn't matter. It's still incredible, better than Mass Effect for sure.

The weakest spot is probably graphics, but hey, I don't particularly care about those, one of the 4 top games for me is a text-based one.

The writing is absolutely incredible. The author ought to be a professional writer, I mean if he isn't he could make millions. Really. It's that good. The only reason I'm not praising him more is because I don't want him to leave the game behind. This is a porn game with a great plot (admittedly it is a hero's journey, but that's not a bad thing). great themes, and goddamn metanarratives (and not done in the way most English majors do it when they learn what a "metanarrative" is, they don't strike you in the eyes and scream at you "LOOK AT ME I'M HERE"). And if I know anything about those things, it's that they are as prevalent in porn games as unicorns in Antarctica.

I will put it this way. This game WILL get you thinking, Playing this game may even open your eyes on the world in ways you didn't consider before. It may even change your mind on some real-world things. This is a powerful game. This is a game that will entertain your mind, this is a game with substance.

The gameplay complements the message of the narrative and is entertaining on its own. You play this weird bastardization of a poker game, although I'd much rather compare it to Go than to poker. Though simple on the surface, it has a surprising amount of depth to it. And it really does tie into the narrative, and is a part of what ties the narrative into the metanarrative. But if you don't like it, it's pretty much skippable. The general sandboxy clickthrough "gameplay" is decent, you ain't getting any awards here, you only notice it when it sucks, but here it's pretty decent. VN mechanics may be unconventional for people used to the forgiving nature of RenPy, but nothing too serious.

The characters are also AWESOME. I love each and every one of them, I hate those I'm supposed to hate, and I feel conflicted for the ones I should feel conflicted about. This is the first time that a porn game has actually made me feel guilty for making a harem. Like, kind of real guilty. And that really ties well into the narrative.

Sure, there are a few flaws, like the music that is just a little annoying sometimes (pro tip for the author: game music is specifically written such as to not be distracting for the player and to instead help them concentrate on the game. For good examples, look at Portal 2 and Runescape), the grind for money gets a little repetitive after a while, but nothing too bad, especially if like me you find it fun to go down and do some gameplay.

The only thing that I would really complain about, and even go as far as call terrible, is the game page. The presentation. The ad. It really undersells and misrepresents the game. The way it talks about it makes the game seem like something more like Poker Night by Telltale but with cute girls. Yknow, playing cards with cute girls, some of them you might fall in love with, at a casino in Edinburgh, and you learn magic along the way, which probably helps everyone cheat at poker somehow, and your destiny will be with one of the girls. Maybe there'd be an enemy you'd have to defeat in a game of poker, like Le Chiffre in Casino Royale.

Now, this is not what I'd call a terrible idea, and it could have worked. But what this game is actually about is you being destined to become the most powerful being in the Universe, with powers to dwarf Thanos, an offspring of Satan himself, but friendly Satan this time, with a destiny 1500 years in the making, with a hot temper and a desire to rip and tear that Doomguy would envy, creating a team of your loyal followers (and lovers), each of whom are incredibly powerful beings in their own right, gathering all the forces of the living across all planes of existance, gathering strength and wisdom to fight the Undead horde in a battle of beyond biblical proportions, where a full-on God is but a nuisance in the grand scheme of things. The ending that Game of Thrones deserved to have gotten, except infinity times more epic.

With all of this in mind, how damn hard would it have been to, yknow, make the description, pictures, and trailer just a tiny, tiiiiiiny bit more representative of what the game is actually about? Maybe, yknow, make the banners more epic and metal, with fire and ice and something like that, maybe put the girls into their actual battle uniforms instead of casual dress, put MC there to lead the girls, in his final form, wielding his cards like Gambit from X-Men if you really wanna put cards into there that much, put an antagonist in there, or just a poor soul that is scary enough to become one, for MC and his group to oppose, and maybe make the description along the lines of "you are the Chosen One, a war is brewing, a war unlike anything you've seen before, it is time to get ready", just, SOMETHING. Not this vanilla calm blue bullshit.

Basically, author, you seen ads for Doom? Your game is more epic. The proportions are bigger. Make notes.

Don't let any of this bashing of the ad distract you from the qualities of the game itself. The bashing is more for the author to make mental notes, because I'm sure it could be fixed. The game itself is a masterpiece, I'm telling ya. Also, what are you still doing here, reading this review? Get back to the "description" tab and download the fucking game. Now. It's good. You won't regret it. Now go.

Despite its very linear nature, Love of Magic's story proved to be engaging and highly enjoyable. Most characters have depth, and the world they inhabit feels very well-lived in.

Character designs are mostly on point across the board. They main character's party all have their cute little quirks that make you want to root for them. There's also a good amount of variance between the girls, and all of them are visually attractive in ways that really fit their personalities.

Really, the worst it gets is the main character, whose facial features at times look rugged and a bit worn. For a snarky inexperienced kid in his early 20s, the MC does sometimes look like he'd be pushing 30 or 40. It's especially noticeable in scenes with the comparatively more youthful looking Emily. And honestly, it's just the tiniest tad unnerving.

The aspect that really makes Love of Magic stand out as a game, though, is its combat system. There's something so uniquely fun about killing daemons through poker that makes for an entertaining standalone feature. While one could go large stretches of the story without playing it, it's pretty fun strategizing and somewhat challenging to the point where I'd go out of the way to play it just for fun. The Poker UI is a little bit clunky, especially starting out, but it's intuitive enough to maneuver and pick up.

Overall though, the game shows high amounts of polish. Definitely going on my must-watch list.

I love this game !
The story is linear but very intriguing and the characters are colorful.
The MC has a real personality and he is proactive which is always good for me.
You can see the progress made by the developer has the story progress (in the writing and in the animations).
The game-play is simple but fun.
All in all this game is awesome !

The only reason why I didn't write a review yet is the fact that no review can do justice when it comes to LOM.

I don't like Unity VNs and free-roaming/sandbox is the only thing I like even less and here we have both. The game is so great that not even those things could sway me away from it.

Droid created an epic story worth of something developed by Obsidian Entertainment or BioWare (while they were still good). Not only that - so-called mini-game here is contagiously fun. We have a great hybrid of RPG and VN and casual gaming - what's not to like?! And, honestly, this is maybe the only adult game here using animations not just for naughty scenes but for truly epic ones.

Not 5 stars - "Love of Magic" deserves 10 stars.

Wow, this game is absolutely superb! Where it really shines is the writing, the world building is excellent and each character brings something different and interesting to the story. For me it compares favorably to the epic fantasy novels I've read.

I like the combat system and had plenty of fun leveling up.

I'm not that attracted to Emily which is a shame with her being the main love interest but there are plenty of other characters to do things with too.

The dev seems to be very hardworking as there's a lot of content to enjoy considering when this was first released.

Overall it's one of the best game I've played and I've played a lot. The creator is a master at ending on a cliffhanger too so you'll find yourself desperate for the next release.

Outstanding story, has me hooked for more. Worldbuilding is top tier and consistent, which is not an easy thing to do.

The poker-esque gameplay is fun and challenging with enough layers to keep the dynamics fresh even for those unfamiliar with poker mechanics.

I have never once reviewed and commented on a game thread but this game is just really good and I think more people should try it. There’s fun, unique gameplay, interesting characters and a well-written storyline. Even if you’re not a fan of cards (not big on poker myself) the game is still enjoyable and will keep you entertained playing for long. I’m sure it’ll only get better as it progresses. Its ugly and clunky. Does have some content but im just not a fan of the models. The cards minigame isnt bad but again is very clunky. The music is cool, ui is clean and well made but in the end id say skip this one,,

Wow, just wow! I've never played a game with multiple girls and actually felt guilty about cheating on the main girl before... Beautiful story, elegant main relationship. Just wow! The fighting mechanic is great, even if you're not familiar with poker hands (I wasn't), the open-ended 'how you use your time is yours' is absolutely fantastic. I love this game!

Great game. It has an entertaining world and fun characters with plenty of content. The combat gameplay is enjoyable. While there is a bit of grinding for attributes, it is a small fraction of total game time so it doesn't become tedious. The story doesn't leave much room for player choice, but it is engaging. Overall, highly recommended.

Some small ideas for improvement:
Remove the randomness of gains on some activities (e.g. evening pub visits). Make it a deterministic cycle similar to the gym. Avoid tempting players to save scum.
Allow some limited control over gem selection on the path.
Allow some limited ability to seek out more dangerous areas on the path (I'm assuming opponents are currently just level or day based).

it's now gone 4am I COULD NOT STOP playing! I can hardly wait for CH.5!!!

Honestly THE BEST GAME I have played from F95 Zone and I've played A LOT of them!

I love the plot, the storyline, the characters, the humour, the combat mini games, the blended mythologies, the setting, the renders & art style,, the sexy elements (of course), the design and UI. The few animations are good and look forward to the addition of more.

Honestly Love of Magic stands up well against a lot more mainstream titles (for context I've been gaming for almost 40 years and have played hundreds and hundreds of games from many genres, on many platforms).

Made me genuinely LOL several times, especially the last University Lecturer we meet in Act 4

Apologies for this review turning into a novel, but felt Love of Magic warranted a FULL review.

Don't get me wrong though, the game isn't perfect;

• I really wish their were a lot more random encounters, throughout the city & especially Elsewhere.
• I wish there were more options/routes/positions during the sexual encounters rather than just a single, set path with optional steps and/or repeats.
• The Scottish brogue feels under used and so many common Scottish phrases are entirely absent (though I guess that might to make it more accessible to all)
• More optional, repeatable encounters with the various characters during the later (sword training) phase to break up the reading, sword practise & work grind would be great.
• I would love to see more clothing & gift options for my awesome companions (they ALL deserve presents!!)
• Would be great to be able to play Poker as another income option. Whether it's as a proper game, simplified mini-game, a short scene (i.e. joining a game, then leaving with calculated wins/loses based on stats)
• There are a few bugs in the UI, especially with notifications getting stuck onscreen during & after the mini games.

I get that the game is still being developed and that perhaps some of my ideas/wishes might already be in the pipeline (or not at all and never gonna happen!).

I imagine that it must be REALLY difficult deciding whether, and when, to further refine existing content or work on adding new content or to focus on the main storyline.

It's clear that A LOT of love, dedication, talent and artistry has already been poured into this game and I wholeheartedly hope this continues for a long time to come!

I will definitely be following it's development and am highly anticipating further chapters.

Persona in Britain

Game is heavily focused on story. The story is light years ahead of most other lewd games. It involves magic and mythology in modern era Britain. The characters are fun, the poker-minigame is fun, and overall, really great direction with development.

I took off a star, because as a story-based game, the story has an issue with buildup. Good mystery follows a simple model of tease - buildup - payoff. The tease of the game is phenomenal, the payoff is good, but the buildup quality feels erratic.

In games where lewdness is the main selling point, buildup is optional because you want to get to the payoff quickly. But in a game like this where the story is the main selling point, good buildup is mandatory.

Solid game, great content, but story is still one step below masterclass level.
