Hello everyone, I’m the developer of Lovers of Ekstasia.
First and foremost, I’m a 3D artist working on FX for film and TV. I’m creating this little game to learn more about Unreal and game programming.
Thank you for downloading and trying out the game.
However, I’m a bit surprised to see it available for download on other, questionable platforms online without my consent. I would have preferred for it to stay on Itchio, but let’s move on…
I understand that the gameplay I proposed is not satisfactory, and I take note of that. I hope the next version will be simpler to handle.
Emulating the sexual act and turning it into a game is a challenge: how can we make it playful? How do we integrate controls when the essence of physical intimacy is precisely about losing control? The challenge is not about moving or thrusting harder and faster but about listening to your partner and being able to maintain excitement at the right level. Too fast, and a man finishes alone, leaving the woman frustrated. Too slow, and the woman gets bored and disengages.
That’s my goal with this little game. While I work on improving the controls, I recommend pressing the middle button and starting by slowly, very slowly, moving the mouse upward to make the circle and pentacle appear. They show up and disappear somewhat randomly—this is intentional, to make it harder and avoid keeping your eyes glued to them. The scene is meant to be enjoyed as well! That’s also why I minimized the UI as much as possible. But I’ll rethink all of this based on your feedback.
I’m glad you enjoy the graphics. They’re completely custom and exclusive to my universe. I model and animate the characters myself. I was inspired by the video game Lust from Beyond. I’m taking advantage of Unreal’s capabilities to create stunning effects, which can be quite resource-intensive. My PC is powerful, but I understand this might cause issues for those with lower-end setups. I haven’t prioritized optimization yet, so I apologize to those affected.
I do plan to include human characters in the game. The main challenge now is designing a system that allows me to switch between characters without having to redo all the animations. Many mechanics also need revision to ensure hands and feet don’t clip through the environment, to add facial expressions, and so on. Patience will be key!
My long-term goal is to create a somewhat universal system for sexual interactions that I could use more broadly, potentially in more ambitious games. However, I might stick with Lovers of Ekstasia, allowing players to choose from a range of environments, characters, and positions. The nature of the challenges could evolve a bit and form a storyline that players will enjoy following.
Aside from the gameplay, which clearly needs work, feel free to let me know what you’d like to see in the next version of Lovers of Ekstasia...
