Ren'Py - Lucky Paradox [v0.10.0] [Stawer]

nice small town setting, mostly attractive female characters and their diverse body types, good visuals, repetitive yet passable sex scenes and animations, decent music, well implemented in-built hint system etc, but all the positives have been spoiled for me big time by the endless, stupid, meaningless supernatural drivel. i found the main story neither interesting nor plausible or ralatable even in sci-fi/fantasy lit standards. it bored me to death reading about parallel universes, mayors, dragons, fireflies, the grand machine and whatnot. also dialogs, be they about the supernatural crap or the daily lives of the characters, often dragged on and on and fucking on needlessly. what we could get in two sentences have often been offered in 10+ sentences. far too much unnecessary and uninteresting reading overall.. i really can't believe the average rating this game got.

What a strange strange little gem we have here!

The MC comes to a seemingly paradise like city, and find himself with a harem. Isn't that a lovely and generic dream?

Then stuff gets weird. Like... borderline SCP levels of weird. It never quite takes that large leap into creepiness, but can definitely give off that "larger than thou" energy.

That's all everything is tied together too. It's the spice that makes this game stands out.

Lucky Paradox is a slow burn, but an intriguing one. A harem game with fantastic girls that make you care about what's going on. Example: If my french girl was like "ayo, I'm ditching you to go created the greatest restaurant in the big city, peace" I'd be 100% supportive of that.

It goes against harem upkeep, and that's a sign of solid writing.

There's a weird fluffy and cozy feel the the game given the paradise like location, even the UI and music add to it. The UI is very round and the textbox isn't visible. It's just a bold soft text.

The H scenes are nice, and well animated too. So the game has a quality feel to it. We also have a dope gallery mode in the free roam.

Oh yeah, there's a free roam. It's actually not bad at all since there's a guide and no time limits. Also, you earn more cash as your certain stats go up, so don't worry about $$$.

I do find it pretty neat to have an MC who has this angsty teenager past that got roped into gambling and stuff. It gives a nice flavor to interaction that isn't just "MC has a big handsome dong" (which still happens). There's a couple times where I'm like "oh no, pls no drama" and I felt like Stawer knew, and resolved the drama like adults would... by talking about it. A+

Lucky Paradox has some awesome takes on the Harem formula, and is definitely worth the read and support.

This game is starts off a bit slow and almost dreamlike, and then it unfolds into some really intriguing.

I appreciate the MC being a person with a past. It's refreshing in this sort of game when the MC has a lot of cards he hasn't played yet. It also helps that he resolves things based on himself vs. being too good at everything.

The girls are all distinct and have great personalities and backstories. You have all your tropes, but they have heart behind the characters.

Definitely a recommended if you want a slow paced, but intriguing H game

This is my second favorite game on F95zone, though with enough time and content added, it might even be able to eclipse my current favorite in the long run.

Art:
HS1 models but touched up in a way I've never seen in any of the other games using that engine before. Best looking characters (made from HS1) ever. 5/5

Animations and H-scenes:

Great looking animations, and a decent variety of characters to view them with, but at the moment (as of October 5th, 2021) I do feel like there could/should be at least a few more scenes with each gal than is currently available. That's really the only thing holding me back on this one. The scenes all look great and there is a decent number of them when totaled all up together, but if you break it down character by character I just wish there was a little bit more (and more variety) with each one. Over time I'm sure this will change as the game continues to be developed and more content will be added.


Stories, Plot, and stuff:

It starts off with a bit of the typical h-game trope about being the new guy in town, but then takes a turn off into the weird end. And as the main plot line continues it just keeps getting weirder. Also there's some pretty funny stuff going on that actually got me to laugh a few times as opposed to the typical "funny" stuff you see in most games where you're just like thinking to yourself "eh, I guess that was funny".
The characters are all pretty great too with a decent amount of actual character to them and some of the best parts of the story occur when the different cast members are chatting with each other or picking on the MC.

While the overview description is pretty generic, the story that unfolds as you delve into this game is anything but. As you progress a mystery that wouldn't be out of place on the si-fi channel or SCP begins to unfold.

When I first started up the game I was kind of put off by the dialogue and interactions with some of the girls, as it just felt random; like the writer was trying to make them, as the overview says "quirky" without any real depth. This completely vanishes as you get into the game, and each character gets fleshed out with interesting backstories and interactions with meaning. Finding out what makes the girls tick becomes just as much fun as finding out what's under their clothes. Speaking of which, the dev has somehow managed to create the cutest damned Honey Select girls I've ever seen, and I never get tired of looking at the characters. The game seems like it still has a long way to go in development and story, but there's already tons of sex content, which is quite nice.

I am very much looking forward to watching the continued development of this game.

I kinda already reviewed it and didn't expect this system to require an actual typed out review so I'll just copy paste the most relevant part of my post I did about it.

"Stawer I swear, this game is one of my two favorite adult games of all time so far!!! The other one being Harem Hotel hehe. And I could never decide which one I like best, each game is so special in it's own ways and both tick so many boxes of top quality adult game traits it's insane! But anyways I digress haha!

So yeah I have to take a moment to kiss your ass for a moment here lmaooo. The story is so great and interesting and intriguing. I has so many plot twist and turns and even gut wrenching at times in the best ways possible. I legit cried with my fucking dick in my hand Stawer! That's no small feat dude x'D.

Also, each character is very distinguishable from each other in their personality: looks, demeanor, the way they think and act. Everything! I got really attached to all the girls that is romanceable so far. I saw in the UI that not only some girls that were evident that you would be able to at some point to romance one day, but also some really less obvious ones that made me so happy! Like a certain Lady dressed in red that has such a cute and particular face. I can't wait to see how that is gonna work out! Without spoiling anything to anyone, lets say I just LOVE "converting" characters! Especially when it's progressive and so nicely done like for all the other characters. Man...the writing is just too good.

The art style is to die for! I love the way the characters look! It's so unique and really hits a sweet damn spot with me! First time I saw the images on this thread I was so hyped to try it out right away! Also the details you put on their body, like the nipples for example, look really good! And they already have so many costumes which many are really dope as hell and gives a nice incentive to revisit a ton of H-Scenes! Which by the way are just delicious to the eye. The poses and animations are *mwah*chef's kiss hahaha.

The map layout is really fun and easy to navigate while being also interesting to navigate. The UI was already pretty nice and now I can see it's going to be baller as all hell once it's all done and is already so useful too.

Also I already had played the whole game not long ago and just came back to see you remade the WHOLE ASS GAME with a fresh coat of paint and a reworked and well oiled engine. And it was already so damn great and you made it fricking next level it's ridiculous. I already replayed through the whole thing the other night. It was, in my opinion already such a polished product and now it's basically nearing a mirror finish in terms of features, stability and ease of use. I'm not even kidding hahaha. "

Story:

In Lucky Paradox, you miraculously wake up from a long coma. Beside you, a letter from your best friend tell you to go to the small coastal town of Argleton. For some reason, you can't see your reflection anymore. As you begin a new life, you start to realise there's a lot more to that small town than meets the eye.
What starts off as a seemingly unassuming story, develops into a creative, unique and intriguing plot, as the misteries of that place start to unravel.
Complementing the great plot is a superb cast of characters. Each of the main girls is unique, fleshed out, and captivating in their own way. What's more, each of their individual stories adds a bit to your understanding of the big picture, which adds a "puzzle-like" feeling to the game.

Design:

The game follows a fairly typical sandbox formula, with days divided between four times of day. You can interact with the girls for events, or do activities to raise stats or make money.
However, as of right now, stats only influence how much money you're making, and money is only needed for optional costumes. So if you want, you can stick exclusively to story events. So if you're afraid of grinding, there really isn't any. The costumes are nice though, as the more expensive ones can be worn for some sex scenes, which is a nice feature.

Presentation:

The game is made using HS, so the game ends up being limited by that engine. If you've played a lot of games using HS or Koikatsu before, you know what to expect, and you've seen most of these sex positions before. Still, this one has one of the best visuals you can get from a HS game, with high resolution and smooth framerates.
The music is also worth mentioning, as the game has original tracks, which set the mood nicely.

Conclusion:

This is a game that makes me feel bad about giving it a 5/5. Because it makes other games that I've also given 5 stars look rather mediocre in comparison.
It is as vanilla as they come, so if you are looking for this or that kink, you probably won't find them here. But if you are looking for a good story, good characters, and some heartwarming and soul-crushing moments, it's hard to go wrong with this game. 6/5 if I could.

I would say that normally a sandbox type of game wouldn't be something that I would normally go for but man oh man the dev of this game has done it right.

Each character is unique and has their own personalities which is refreshing when you have the number of girls the dev has introduced (not all of them have stories yet).

Story elements are seamless and flow nicely with only a little grinding and even then each time you have to do the same thing again it moves on to the next element so you don't feel you are doing the exact same things over and over again.

I am looking forward to the next update and progression of the MC's and LI's stories.

Well done, dev, you have shown what a good sandbox game should look like.

personally for me its a 4 star.

appearance wise i only liked around 50% of the characters and i think the dev could have done a better job

having to work every single morning makes it grindy as it is adding extra clicks for no reason. this also covers the lack of activities in morning and when saturday/sunday morning come you can only do stuff with moxy

noon is almost useless until later half of the game(will probably change as the game is still in development)

stats grinding being useless. so you grind but get nothing in return

other than that the game:

- excellent sex animations and character appearance(for the ones i liked)

- unlock characters by reaching a certain point in another character. helps with clarity and diminish the feeling of being overwhelmed by a vast amount of choices.(other games like this sometimes push everything out and can get confusing)

- unique characters. each character is different from each other and has a big variety of them.

- good pacing(speed you progress with each character is nice)

So far, well done story/game. Might not be the most original but it is well done.

Story : 8/10 Not an original story, the mystery part is good. It does capture the interest and has the emotional grab. Can be a little confusing in parts, still can follow it., The martial arts contest stuff is somewhat interesting as well, although i think they could have improved it a little with some more action.

Writing : 8/10 Have not seen many errors and there is a some humour in it, which is good.

Renders : 9/10 The Graphics and Renders are very good, of course they could use some improvement with shading and such, still the characters look quite good.

Animations : 7/10 Nicely portrayed, and the motions are not continual two second loops. I think in this particular game, if the dev addded more to the sex scene's, like trying for more a more realistic sexual experience. This Story/game could very well be in the top 5.

Playability : 9/10 Simple and easy to understand map of locations and movements from place to place. Buying items and such is simple, as well as finding the characters.

Overall : 9/10 The atmosphere of the game is pleasing, the characters looks and the writing for them are well done. Suffers from there being so little animations, could be vastly improved in that regard. The story does grab my interest, as well as there being a good amount of content to it.
Does it interest me enough to wait for more, certainly. The re-play value is also pretty high, which is rare for many others.
An overall nice game experience. ( Animations, needs much more, cannot stress how important that is ).

To keep it simple:
We have the graphics that are pretty much standard for HS, i guess, nothing extraordinary though the brunette girl is kind of different, but thats all for the good parts of the visuals. It can be considered average, since everything is constrained to the graphic engine, the tool or whatever you wanna call it. It relies heavily in it.

The sex scenes stuff, with a couple of exceptions where the dev felt inspired or something, consist of a small chat prelude before going straight to default animations provided by the engine. I find it average

The writing also average, nothing extraordinary and I would think english is not the Mother language of this dev. The use of "confuse" is noticeable and phrasing is odd in many places. There is the option to choose spanish, but even in Spanish i feel like there is something missing.

In the content department, the guide system helps, and there is quite some content, that in my opinion feels repetitive and the game is quite fucking grindy. The costume thing is retarded as of now, cause you spend 500 in a thing that doesnt have much use besides unlocking a scene with a difeerent outfit, but its still the same scene.

And to finish this, you can name your MC but it doesnt matter, most of the girls address you in a different way. Since there are no hal stars i have to give it 3, but i would rate it 2,5 which is average.

Ony of my favourite games. Very clean visuals and gameplay, attractive models, very easy to follow and polished. Lots of support and frequent updates. Great animations. It's very immersive and attractive game with lots of replay value. I would pay for this game and am looking forward to it's release!

This is first review and my first 3D Android Erotic VN Game so here we go...

Initially I knew about this game from Itch.io I wasn't sure what to expect from 3DVN's but boy glad I did try it.

Initially I came for the girls stayed for the story and charm and since im a sucker for whatever is wholesome it quickly became one of my favorites, I mostly check the patreon every week and I gotta say... Stawer is really dedicated to his game, this game is updated almost 2 weeks or 1 month and each content adds a lot. I remember playing this back then at 0.5 right now Argleton "the city" whilist not fully fleshed out it still feels like an actual place.

Not going with spoilers and not talking much about it since it isn't done yet, however the story so far is full of intrigue and mystery, it is well written, sadly there is small inconsistencies as you progress for instance if you go a long way on a route in the story there will be little to no mentioning of it on a certain point "still thats a lot of work to make everything connected depending on progress" not that is a bad thing, but it will make joining the pieces together the more satisfiying.

Characters 5/5

Oh God where do I start? Every main character is loveable, the secondary ones still get their spot, and some are to be hated but soon forgotten lol. Primm is a cupcake, Charlotte and Sasha have great butts, Maxy's personality is quite fun, Layla is kinda my type, and Yui is caring and dead-pan hilarious at times.

Not mentioning them all I guess thats spoilers but you are in for a treat too!

H-Scenes 5/5

And of course what I came for "Pun intended" but it wasn't the main grab for me, like I said it was the story, however the scenes in this game, are top notch... Erotic and Passionate oh yeah. Although rarely they are buggy on Android the quality really stands out. They are amazingly fluid, well texted, and sometimes quite shiny... It has a lot of scenes.

I'm honestly suprised how Stawer used Blender and not Honey Select for the scenes or pretty much everything.

I eagerly wait for more updates or the rework of the whole game, I wonder what suprises will the dev give to us.

It's a tad bit long for a first review, I guess I got inspired...

Finally a good animated harem game! I was looking for another harem game to play until I got an update to the other harem games I played, and I couldn't find a game as good as I'd been looking for for almost two days. But when I came across this game, I said, this is the game I was looking for. The characters are quite very well designed and the personality traits are quite good. I also have to say that games with other dimensions in story are my thing. At the final, I have to say that Prim is my favorite. She is such a sweetheart.

The game is fantastic, the characters are really hot and the story is much better than a lot of other games on this site. As well as that, it has a lot of animations which are all really fun. I can't wait for the next update!

Overview: A young man wakes up in a small town full of mystery and horny women.

Story: Post length limits prevent me from going into the detail necessary to convey the story of this game. It includes plot threads about parallel dimensions, magical flashback spheres, sister rivalry, family businesses, martial art dynasties, defying parents/destiny, videogame tournaments, and so much more. An apt description of the plot is "sprawling". Some of the plot elements like the videogame tournament seem to be forgotten as the game goes on.

Gameplay: It's one of those 4 timeslots per day free roaming grind games. I characterize the grind as moderate, with your MC having half a dozen stats he needs to grind up as well as a lot of money to earn. You also need to grind up your relationship stat with each girl, although mercifully you don't need to repeat actions 10 times per step like in some games. Generally two or three of runs through at the current level is enough to unlock the next step. There is an in-game hint system that helps, although it can be uselessly vague at times. I didn't need a walkthough, but I probably could have saved an hour or two if I had used one.

Art: Quite well done. All of the characters look great and the backgrounds are fully fleshed out. None of the girls look like Honey Select default models. There are smooth but short looped animations during the sex scenes.

Length: This is a decently long game. It isn't shy about dumping giant walls of exposition on you. I spent probably 8 hours playing through to the end of the current version, but I was reading most of the text. Oddly the one area that doesn't have a lot of text is the sex scenes. They're all just wham bam thank you ma'am. At most they have a "slow" animation, then a "fast" animation, then a "finish" animation.

Sex content: There's a fair number of scenes in here. They skew vanilla for the most part. For a lot of the tags there are only like one or two scenes in the game. There is a whole lot of BJs and PiV. It takes some time (and a great many lines of text) before most girls put out, but eventually most all of them do.

Conclusion: This is a quality game. Easy 5 star rating. It has loads of content and a storyline that will keep you on your toes if you're trying to follow along. There is enough fap material to keep your dick happy as well so long as you can still get off to simple PiV sex.

This game is very good, and it certainly deserves a 5* review. All of the characters look great, the spelling is perfect, there are a lot of animations, and there is also a pretty good soundtrack throughout the game.
There are improvements that could be made, but I won't list all of them because the developer posted that the next update will be a fix of older content, and so it looks like everything minor that I found will be fixed anyway.
Overall, the game is very fun. I think some of the girls are a little bit easy, maybe extending the storylines before H scenes would be quite positive for one or two of them. But apart from that the game is really well made, definitely a top 5 game on this site. And I've loved the experience so far!

Lucky Paradox is excellent in basically every aspect. That being said, the character writing is where this game really succeeds in comparison to other vns. It is a bit slow on the sexual content but that makes it all the better because of the connection you build along the way. I believe when it's completely finished and polished up it will be one of the best vns on this site.

Excellent game with an interesting story, excellent characters, graphics and animations. A fairly complete game which I look forward to adding more content (especially from Charlotte). As points to improve, it would be great to work on voices for the heroines or effects sounds and the inclusion of some minigames for some activities and as a last point, more importance to the statistics of the protagonist and that these influence the events.
