VN - Others - Luna in the Tavern [v0.47] [TitDang]

was tempted to go the patreon route (again), but i realized it's $15. $15 for a wank, and one that you have to refresh every month. even in the case that the means are available for everybody, no one would pay $15 for a forgettable wank. only the thirstiest of coomers who are desperate for dota content would consider such an investment that is already at a loss considering the quality and especially quantity of the offered content.
for the game itself, it's as cookie cutter as it gets story and mechanics wise. definitely worth $2-5, but never thrice the price. actual scenes, they are passable at best and i couldn't be proven otherwise as i wouldn't pay $15 for the content. the means are thankfully available for me to perhaps splurge that amount for this form of entertainment, but i would wait until the end when this whole fiasco finishes and where there is an actual, sizeable amount of content to compensate for the lack of quality/depth. i'll wait for reforms in the developer's side on how to resolve this issue, because the good art is really wasted by this practice.

note: the art and all of its relevant fap material are good really don't get me wrong. it just does not warrant what it demands as the entire project is not exactly ambitious or substantial.

In the shantytown of VN smut journeys, I find an odd one off the wayside that looks promising when glancing at the cover, but like the old saying goes, don't judge a book (or VN in this case) by its cover, and that goes doubly so for this rather seductive one.

In this, I'll try and be as honest as possible with what this journey gives. Bias-wise, I don't particularly play DOTA and not a fan of it, mainly due to me never really dabbling much in the moba-scene, so context-wise this game doesn't rock my socks in that regard.

What rocks my socks is more so the artstyle, which is about the only thing going for this game, alongside the lewd scenarios. They don't skimp, the art and smut aren't overtly vanilla or overtly perverse to the point of grotesqueness, it instead walks the fine line of kink. And that's nice, it even provides a pretty good line of dialogue, choice, and reasoning for the situations that lead to smut. Mainly with the heroine telling you about her misadventures as she gets more booze and questions. Kind of like gramps telling you stories about the war, but instead of gramps casually throwing severely outdated remarks when talking about the Vietnamese, we now instead get drunk sloot stories.

That's fun and all, but why the 2 stars, and why the 2 stars from everyone else? I mean, the VN isn't bad bad, and it actually has somewhat of a balance between smut, story, and dialogue, but...that leads to the true problem of the game.

Paywall, as stated by everyone. Now, I understand, this is a den of gentlemen obtaining products in a gentlemanly manner, yar har fiddly dee as they say, but even as a patron I'd be pissed at what this developer is trying to get away with. There are games here on the same caliber of visual quality, with their share of problems of course, but as mentioned they have the same quality of artwork, if not better, same plethora of lewd and kink, more mechanics than just click forward for context and tits, and they don't try and shaft you in seeing somebody's hentai foundry wetdream for $2-$15 a month, or MAKE YOU PAY FOR HAVING MORE THAN 1 SAVE SLOT. It's practically lazy, while yes, the smut industry is notoriously horrid for any type of stable revenue, this literally is a structure that can barely call itself both a VN or game, as it's only riding high on having only good artwork and lewdish situations, while trying to charge you in every corner for that sweet patron support. As if you see the scenes that are locked behind the paywall, they aren't that particularly rewarding, such as your normal typical lesbian scene that has probably numbed your senses in how standard it has become now being $2 to view.

It's sad, since out of anger I'd give it a 1 but that's really my wrinkled wallet talking mixing in with the audacity that I saw when playing, but the art and the choices are passable~. Choices being the main problem, if it didn't have you pay money to see normal scenes you get in any other game, have more than one save slot and/or SKIPPING TEXT not be a paid for feature, then I feel this game would be both worth supporting and would have a much higher rating. Overall, it truly is a hentai foundry profile locked within a VN surrounded by paywalls and nth amounts of DRM. 2/5, maybe a 4ish for what it's worth in terms of what it offers if they ever decided to take the paywall off, you'd be better off spending your time and money elsewhere to the myriad of games on this site that actually deserve it, or hell this site itself for showing you what it means to play before pay.

doesnt really make you want to support ~ which is sad because DotA stuff is a bit rare (and im a DotA player and fan), the art is really nice too, but the Developer's behavior is absolutely disgusting and makes you think "what kind of bs could he pull off in the future if i support?"

It sucks, they are more concerned of protecting content for who is paying than actually putting out quality content, same thing that "forbidden fruit"did, its a waste of time.
The history is okay, nothing too innovative the bad part is that the progression is weird and you have to find the correct answers to get the scenes, but not being Ren'Py its harder than it sounds.

If i could use one sentence to describe the game it would be "pay to play". Seriously, patreon button is everywhere you cant even save game without paying for it. The game has no place on any free game forum it should be patreon exclusive. Stay away from this unless you're sure you want to drop money on it

Hard pass.. making profit from a game is fine, being a very greedy developer and cheating people out of basic features is not fine. The artwork is nice, that's it for the positives. I would give 0 starts if I could. The story does not make up for the fact that you have to pay for that story.. it is not very fun or inspiring. I am very glad to uninstall this. This game is a waste of time..

Agreed with the other reviews.
The games rating would fly up to 3+ stars if the only paywall was to make the latest chapter available to Patreons.
And of course, all the features should be unlocked for the public versions.
The game should have some music and sound, it would add a lot to the atmosphere.

As of now :
+ Art is unique and pretty nice
+ Scenes are hot

- No sound
- Too much features behind a paywall
- Grinding to unlock scenes and gameplay is only text with some choices

The art is ok, and gameplay isn't bad however like everyone says, everythings locked behind being a patreon, if the quality was on par with some of the other top games it'd be more reasonable, however only if you're really into this game would I recommend it.

Locking the ability to save behind a paywall. Requiring an online connection most of the time. Dropping popular projects for hyper monetized ones. Do you really wan't to see this model that makes even EA look like a people focused company?

Off the list. I don't mind supporting someone on a patron if the game is worth it. This one is just to greedy. So the game is just not playable.

I played the offline version that a good samaritan uploaded which is a version behind and this game does has good merits for one the art is damn good and very much in the style of dota the writing is ok the guy who made this has definitely played the game and there are very little porn games for dota that being said this is still a porn game and even with having the offline version that doesnt ask you to pay for everything i still felt bored enough to unlock the gallery the only reason this game isnt in renpy is so more paywalls can be added its just a visual novel in the same way as DMD with some actions required to be taken to view certain scenes.
TLDR i dont recommend playing the game without playing a hacked version the scenes are good but its not really worth playing through several times to get them

I understand that the author tried very hard. I really like drawing! But I don’t understand what the author wants to achieve with such aggressive advertising. She's everywhere and she's annoying. But as much as I would not like to put one star - the author does everything for this.

Nah seriouslly fam, is pretty shitty that ur game have a patreon option for almost everything. Heck even the skip option have one. So for me the game is just a money juice, not cool.

Patreon system looks likes free-to-play phone game. Worst game i have ever played. Graphics is okey, It infuriates me very much that it is required to be the project’s patron for any ordinary action, you’re just scoffed at everything. Such a policy is not particularly acceptable in this genre of games, because not everyone wants to be patron, we are yohou pirates and a bottle of rum

Everything about this game, besides the art, is trash. The scenes, the gameplay, the setting, the writing, and, most of all, the business model and paywalling of basic features. Even if the game content was quality, which it certainly isn't, the shithousing going on here would make it an easy pass.

No skiping and very aggressive marketing charging for saves, but i like the art and the idea, and it seem to have a very wide choice tree though it requires the player to play again to see all the content

There are many fun cases and interesting events in this plot. Probably the beginning too long, but other text is interesting to read, not boring.

The first part of game has few ends, you can play every time as if almost first time. Interesting to know content of each branch of plot. Recently had been added new rewind system in sex scenes, very convenient

As to paying, you have one free slot for save or load without paying, it is quite enough for acquaintance to game. 90%+ of content is available to any man from internet without paying. I think it's quite fair policy.

There are no complicated game mechanics, but with the built-in walkthrough and gallery, the game makes it super easy to find out which scenes you have missed and how to get them. Saves a lot of time.
