Review for version 0.2.7
Well, the 3D models are ok, and that's about the only positive I can think of. Even then a lot of the enemy models are (at least partially) default assets.
It's a fairly simple card battle system, draw a set of cards and you can use them to either attack or defend against enemy attacks. Not too hard to win most fights if you think at all about what to use based on the enemy action, I only lost 2 times total due to having to learn to deal with the mechanics the enemies used (stacking attack boosts are a pain). Unfortunately there's some UI issues in that the developer's decided that your stamina (used to play cards) needs to be yellow text on a slightly lighter yellow background, so I completely missed the indicator for a little while. It also fails to tell you that the first item in your inventory (upper left corner) can be used in combat, and only that item. It'll pull from other item stacks first though, which is the only positive about that.
The animations (that I saw for the female PC) mostly look like a couple of flat images sliding over each other. It doesn't look much like 2 3D models interacting.
The gameplay is grindy in a bad way. Many quests and crafting amount to "gather 5 bear asses" and of course it's all down to chance if the item you need actually drops.
The map system is basically screenshots of RPGmaker maps (literally, you can easily recognize default rpgmaker assets there) that you move on in a grid. There's little to indicate what are collection points for resources.
There's relatively little to tell you what the fuck to do once you reach rank 2, I was completely unable to figure out how to advance, which I think is tied into crafting to advance the story, which leads into the biggest issue...
The fucking patreon integration. So, a lot of games will have a link to the developer's patreon (or other site) and a thank you hall for donors. This one throws the patreon everywhere. Don't want to guess what the hell items combine for crafting? PAY US! Want this outfit piece (that you still need to grind cash and resource to get)? PAY US! Accidentally clicked on anything locked behind a patreon login? HERE'S THE LINK! It's just annoying that it's thrown up everywhere in the game.
