Ren'Py - Lust Village [v0.95] [Mr.C]

It's just not good.

For being released almost six and a half years ago there aren't too many things to do. It's boring. Click on each room until you find someone and try to interact with them. Grindy.............

The Engrish is pretty bad as well as very simplistic story telling..... Maybe it was written by a teenager? Mainly just simple single sentence conversations.

Outdated graphics, but then again it was released several years ago.... Odd colors on the characters, for example, some of the girls almost look like they are in grayscale.

Odd name, Lust Village....I mean it takes place in a city.

It's not that you shouldn't try it, I guess.... You might just want to wait another several years until it's closer to being finished.

There is a genuinely good game here, but it is marred by very questionable design choices.

The progression, scenes, characters and animations are all very well done, definitely worth playing. There's already a decent amount of progression and scenes, and the more scenes get added, the better it will get. Plus, the slow corruption and gradual slip into depravity is done quite well and I found very enjoyable.

But that being said, you will need to slog through a ton of incredibly grindy sandbox slop to unlock basically anything. In addition, the progression is extremely confusing and interlocked and there is no consistency or guide to show what you need to do to unlock scenes. For example, to unlock the gym you need to talk to the grandmother character, which unlocks scenes for the the stepmom character (not the mom character). To unlock any of the jobs to earn money, you need to talk to specific nps at the school, which is only unlocked after talking to the mom character, etc. None of this has any hints.

When I see the overview I was expecting a average game, and it's exactly what this game deliver. Don't get me wrong, the game it's not bad, but there are some bad decisions of the dev that makes the game worse.
Its grinding AF.
It's bugged AF.
You have almost no interaction with other characters.
Nonsesical story.
Other minor things that matter little.
The game idea is solid, it can became a great game, but some things have to change, for now 3 stars.

If you enjoy previous game - "Corruption" from this guy, you will enjoy this one even better. Call me crazy but this game, if you into mind control, corruption theme, then there is no alternative, why?
_Cons:
I need to say the very first thing about first look, it's better then the first game but HS2 is way, way too restrictive to create unique model as well as unique pose. That's the very first reason people don't see this game worth it in the first place. I know, he tried the new stuff from PH, but failed, still...
_Pros:
1. Now is the fun part. I just try the game, first time after 6 years of development. So obvious, the content in this game is massive.
2. You have 3 family to F with, your - step and aunt. The way to corrupt them is similar. In the beginning you try something soft, then at an amount of level, you unlock new interactives. Some people said it's slow and grindy, I weirdly find it engaging. You feel like you changed people, the very feeling of a game.
3. Okay so that's still how you do things in the first game? What is "game changer" now? Okay, the new system called "new dress", you get enough interaction, you unlock them and they "change". It's like corrupt state, and you can control , love it.
4. Like the first game, you have super power, but you need to find it. Yes, the game don't need cheat anyway, "cheat" is basically a part of a game.

It's worth it, promise.

Uffff this was pain to play. As someone who enjoyed Corruption, this is a big disappointment. Not only the characters look worse, but the whole game is terrible. The story is non-existent, just you roaming around in search for the next pussy. The corruption is more tedious, less rewarding, with a tons of "in progress" and of course there are time and weekday relevant events, because why not kick you in the teeth when you are already down. Sandbox is as with every other AVN, clanky and disorganized, basically a complete mess. The progress tips work for one or two events, then it just gives up. In retrospective, I should have done the same.

Overall, I'm very disappointed with this game and with the fact that this is the dev's second game and it already had a rework, I can't imagine this getting any better. I've probably put more effort into this review than the dev into the whole game. Heck even the name and thumbnail aren't correct. There is no quaint village as is in the thumbnail and the map is of a small town/city, not a village.

Good Points
+ Some girls/women looks good.
+ Sex scenes has animations and they are decent.

Bad Points
- Story is not original or interesting.
- Visually the game looks old.
- Most women in the game has kind of unatractive faces like Elena, Audrey, Diana & Linda, thanks to art style their face models are kind of bad, it could have been far better than this considering Sophia has quite good looking face, they can use some changes to make them more attractive.
- There is no love path in the game, it's fully about corruption/lust, and most girls/women in the game has partners already, so if you are looking some variety between love and corruption/lust paths, then this is not a good game for that, and bit boring.
- The game needs better translation and profreading.
- Features the game has is too limited, we don't even have skip unseen text, etc, kind of features all other games has, they are needed, classic Renpy features should have added to the game.
- Fullscreen is not really fullscreen, the game gets alt-tabbed everytime you take screenshot, etc.
- The game is sandbox, it doesn't have tips nor walkthrough and UI/HUD is kind of annoying, and lacks most important stuff like time-skip, instead the game forces you to skip time with events like watching TV, etc.
- The game is grindy and boring if you don't cheat with stats.
- This game is 6 years old... That alone says a lot.
- It's quite buggy.

For The End
This game is big waste of time considering how grindy it is, even with cheating stats it's still grindy (yep) and it really not worth playing at all.

★ ★ because compared to the developer's original game (Corruption) this game feels backwards in many ways.

In the original, most of the characters that you "corrupted" had their own flavor/small story arc to them. In this one, while the UI looks more polished, all of the characters feel a lot more "generic" and it's almost entirely devoid of any story-arcs (small or otherwise).

Big disappointment from Mr. C.
If it wasn't for the same chopped up dialogue, I would even wonder if it was being produced by the same dev.

This game is a buggy mess and is one of the worst gameplay experiences I've had on F95. It's very easy to do things in an order that will lock out content or cause continuity issues with the story progress. Top that off with v0.75 being the very first release with actual sex after 6 years of development. It'll take at least another 6 years to complete the game. The poor reviews are well-deserved. Heed their warnings and avoid this game.

Perhaps I found the developer's first game late in the cycle. It was pretty good overall. But this game I've been watching pretty much since the start. There is no actual sex in this game as of now. It is extremely grindy with little direction or hint giving. As others have stated, no skipping unseen option is available.

Ultimately the game is just... boring right now. Nothing really changing, nothing really being added to move things forward.

It really feels like all possible content is being drip-fed to ensure subscriber's keep paying that monthly fee in hopes of a glimpse at something new.

Well I have to agree with everyone else. This is a total grind fest and a bit of a free roam scavenger hunt (with added ass pain of trying to be at the right place at the right time).

Some direction would be great for what to do with the characters, which so far there is only feedback/hints for the mother.

Main quest also has hints, but frankly I gave up trying since the ovearll grind burnt me out.

On the positive side, art and animations were pretty good, and the various scenes provided a decent amount of lewd content. For me this would have resulted in a rating of 2 or perhaps even 3, but........

The developer has disabled the "skip unseen" option. That's a total dick move if you ask me. So because of that and the horrendous grind this thing only deserves a 1-star.

As a fan of the previous game, which I would gladly give 4/5. I feel quite a bit disappointed with this one. I decided to give this version of the game which is 0.70 a rating 2/5, I was checking the game out now and then, but it got to the point that I might be done with it now, sadly... Let me explain why.

First of all, the game itself, the way it's constructed is pretty similar to the first game by Mr. C However with certain aspects in my opinion you can say that it's a downgrade, the game became way more OPEN, while not helping the player at all with what to do, no tips, no walkthrough, no explanations, nothing at all, and that's a huge mistake on devs part. The amount of "locations" you have to check out is quite huge, and you also have time system, so it's like playing a lottery to get what you want. I feel like author would need to improve upon this, so the game can be easily played and enjoyed quickly by everyone, instead of players trying to figure out what they should do, and wasting time in the process. This game doesn't have any plot twists, and this kind of design is not needed at all. I feel like it was made just so people have "longer playtime"...

Second: Preferences menu was heavily edited so players can't SKIP at all. I highly disapprove of this kind of moves. Some players just want to enjoy the pictures, instead of having to press the button 1000 times, just because they can't skip.

Third: Corruption process became way less fun in this game. Basically every woman is going through the same changes, same makeup, very similar clothes etc. That is pretty disappointing too, as the first game had some similarities between corrupted subjects, but this one REALLY feels like they are all going to turn into the same thing. Which may not be bad for some, but I personally don't like it that much.

Fourth: Personally it feels like developer lost his drive with this one, what's the reason? I have no clue, but I don't think people should force themselves to work on something that they don't have fun doing. As a comic creator I strive for the best, and I'm trying to keep improving upon my previous works/chapters, be it art, dialogue, presentation. With this second game, it's clearly visible that not many improvements were done, be it art, gameplay, UI, everything in my opinion feels worse(sadly) I would expect more from a person with so many years of experience in game dev.

Thanks for all your work, hopefully you can improve upon many things that I listed in this short review, many people if not everyone would appreciate those improvements.

I was contemplating if I should even write this short review, but in the end I decided to do so. I feel like dev could use a lot of constructive feedback, so he's back on the good track.

Lots of places to explore to find sexy characters in hot events.

A slow burn that really ramps up killer corruption as the girls get lewder and lewder. Make the entire city fall to your bidding.

After 6 years of development, there are no sex scenes. Just a bunch of meaningless grind with a bunch of meaningless stats and a bunch of empty characters. Just don't waste your time on this shit, unless you're satisfied with a pointless tease that doesn't lead anywhere.

Overall a wonderful game, I didn't expect it. At first it seems average, even very average, if you understand - a tiny bit long, a sandbox in the tags. But... After the last update, everything changed. You need to play with universal renpy walkthrough mods for passing and changing stats. But it's worth it - incest genre and very perverted scenes.
Not too perverted but right to the point it’s good. Would seem like a minus of the game: it’s too big. There you have your family, and your aunt’s family in full team, and your father’s family (divorced from the mother) and a slightly mystical branch (not annoying. But not developed yet). And there’s also a whole hefty school with shops and all sorts of places where the mother works...
But after the latest perverted update, one can say that the content has gone up. Now from update to update it will be very pleasant to play, this is this type of game. If you figure it out, of course, it’s quite complicated. Nothing super complicated(as other sandbox), but it’s really nice to exactly play the game with a bit cheats

Game unplayable. Crashes with the second person you meet and can't be gotten around. There is no way to get the game out of full screen mode even though the settings say that it is possible. Not suggested as unless you have a save from way down the road, you can't actually see anything past meeting your sister.

The game still has a wide cast with the depth of a puddle but the issue is a bit more than that. The grind is AWFUL, but I think its the UI that really pushes things way too far.

Events are timed, as is pretty much alway the case but In the past I let these simple design issues go as I assumed wold be fixed by now, they're not.
You can't skip a day.
You can't fastforward time in the main characters home,
You can't end the day at your Aunts.
Getting to the world map in the MC home is a pain and overall it's worse to use.

I can't even say the game has a "Decent range of content" as it's mostly half baked mechanics, like the 'bootycall system'

The plot, characters and certain corruption bits are interesting to say the least.
To get them tho, you either cheat your way into it, or grind the hell out of it.
As a standard H-Sim game, that means clicking everything a thousand times, holding down ctrl, until something changes and keep on with it.
There is nothing definitive to look for when it comes to progression.
Very badly executed

If you've ever played Corruption, you know what makes it good: the pure filth and degeneracy. Mr.C knows how to make this degeneracy work like few, and he also knows how to make hot designs for his characters. This is also present in Lust Village, but now with WAY better art. In these aspects, the game is amazing.

But that's it for the good points. Everything else in this game just sucks.

First, if you know what makes Corruption good, you also know what makes it bad: the grind. Corruption is almost unplayable without the mods (unless you hate yourself so much that you are willing to torture yourself by play it without them), and the grind there is one of the most boring ones I've ever seen. And Lust Village is ever worse in terms of grinding. AT LEAST four times worse. "At least" because:
- Each character have now FOUR stats to be raised;
- You can only use the book three times a day;
- I'm pretty sure you need to raise each stat way more than the three times you needed on Corruption, but I've never counted.

Second, it's not like anyone actually care about Corruption's plot, but at least the characters had some writting there that helped with immersion. In Lust Village, there's barely any writing in this aspect. Just pointless texts for a little until it just becomes random sex talk or whatever.

Third, the progress is too slow. WAY too slow. This game was first released in like, 2018. Almost six years later, it's like it's still in the early stages. A lot of characters are still on their first progress levels, a lot of places are totally unused. When you play a new update, it feels like you've played for two hours to get like, 20 minutes of content. At this rate, it will take another 6 or 8 years until every character get fucked at least once (if Mr.C don't get tired and abandon the game).

Fourth, there isn't any walkthrough, guide, hint system or whatever (only for the main plot, but the main plot is like, 10% of the game so far, way less if you consider the grind). You don't know if you already have triggered all of a character's content avaliable, what you have to do or how many stats you need to raise to unlock them. If there's a locked outfit, you don't know how you can unlock them. You just need to keep roaming aimlessly until you trigger something.

Due to the absence of mods, the only way to make this game playable is to unlock the console and manually change the variables to avoid the grind, but maybe it can break stuff.

C'mon Mr.C, you can make this game work if you want. This game have potential to be a masterpiece if you make things right, but it needs some SERIOUS changes.

its a very good game, I like where the story is heading. Definitely worth a play through. Updates aren't too far between and seem to be semi-regular. would love to see more done with the Diana line she is by far my favorite

It's in very bad unfinished state. It's not about quantity of content - that's actually alright - it's about amount of dead ends and not working buttons. There are useless locations., that are just there as an option for you to click on them.
There is a lot of buttons that give "Work in progress" message when clicked - then why is there a button?!
There is no way to know where the next scene for character will unlock and what threshold you need to achieve to unlock it.
There is no message "that's it for this version for this character".
Dev purposefully removed default ren'py option to skip unread text.
Last, but not least - there is no intercourse in this game at this moment. Kissing, groping, exhibitonism. That's it.

All those negatives, so why 3 stars then? Because corruption of characters plays out VERY well. It's excatly the feel that i want out of the game, it feels very similar to early stages of the "Corruption" game from this dev.
I would've even gave it 4, if not for the premonition that this game will spiral same way corruption did - straight into depraved bimbos for all characters.
