After a hundred posts the chat starts lagging like I'm running cyberpunk and starcitizen at the same time. I don't understand why people use garbage unity for simple visual novels.

I'm not a fan of using Unity for a VN either... but this absolutely is not a VN, and would be damn hard to pull off in Renpy.
if there's an issue with the implementation that causes exponential slowdown as more items are added to the dataset, that's on the dev, not on the app framework.

Confused as to how you came up with "Genitalia" the picture clues to both puzzles are in your photo album, not the attachments

I like what's here, but people are right...this chat moves way waaaaayyy to slow for us not to be able to just jump right back to choices.

Thanks for the feedback! I've actually added a feature to help with that — if you press the spacebar, it speeds up the message flow considerably. It doesn't jump straight to the next reply, but it makes the pacing much faster without breaking the immersion. Give it a shot!

Confused as to how you came up with "Genitalia" the picture clues to both puzzles are in your photo album, not the attachments

With the added clue that it was supposed to be a SFW term, I can easily see how he got genitalia from that.

Damn, the UI is looking slick. This is the part I hate most when making games and you've done a great job. What did you use to implement it?

Also, can you pool the message elements in the chat windows and only show like 50? Just load them on demand (using those pooled elements) depending on your scrollbar state. It's lagging with bigger chat histories.

It'd also be nice if you could copy paste text more easily - I had to use OCR for that spam binary lol.

You're a life saver. I couldn't get my OCR to recognise it and even trying to read through a list of kanjis by stroke count didn't and didn't get anything. Says something about the site I was using

Actually, since I'm now further, I think their question better aligns with this:

Which is where I'm stuck now. I've got the Three women. Seven sins. The pleasure of sex. and I think it has something to do with the purple Black Love but I'm struggling to piece anything together. That said, I did find one of them translates to Katsuki which is much more in line with a name but I haven't got that to gel with anything either so far.

I take no shame in admitting I never would have got that. Neither the iro nor the correct spelling of the second word instead of the typo even though I'd started throwing words together with 'stump'. So close yet so far. Thanks a bunch. I've just seen the next stage and decided that can be a tomorrow me problem

Thanks a lot, man! Really appreciate it. Yeah, UI is one of those love-hate things in gamedev — tons of tiny details that take forever to polish, so it’s great to hear you noticed it.
I’m using DreamOS for the UI base, exactly like you found. Modified a lot of it, but that’s where the foundation came from.


About the chat optimization — you’re absolutely right. Actually, we already discussed pooling elements and loading them dynamically based on the scroll position. It's not a super quick fix, but it's definitely on the roadmap to improve performance for long chats.


And yeah, copy/paste will also be improved soon. You're not the first one who had to suffer with OCR for the binary parts, haha Sorry for the pain — it’s being worked on!

The UI looks great but I have a second monitor and the game always loads up on my second monitor rather than my main one, I cannot see an option to go into windowed mode anywhere so the only way I know to get around this is to just disconnect my second monitor.
Am I just being blind or stupid?

you can use "windows-key+shift+(arrow-keys) to change which monitor a program is on
