btw the new version have none.bat that is not empty file but an exe, and it's really sus

the none.bat behavior is very disturbing, it checks user input (usually keylogger do this), create bunch of dll and then access it on 2nd run or when running in the background, killed windows error reporting service and kill WMI service (a lot of malware do this to prevent event logging), also it's check if they running in sandbox environment

anyway. it's creepy, none.bat supposed to be empty fake file not a 1.4MB exe disguised as .bat that run secretly, maybe there's update and it's part of the game i miss? anyways stay safe guys

Okay, I can beat the raids now, but I still don't know how to get the dark mirror that should allow me to customize my outfit... Any ideas? Am I missing it somewhere?

EDIT: Yay, I found it! It's not the dark mirror he showed in his post. It's called the Spider Closet and it can be made in the Spider Workbench.
Dude, you got it wrong. Or at least a bit. Just discovered in the Pretty Workbench there's a Heart Closet. It's an upgrade to the Spider Closet, as it has a lot more inventory slots. Still looking to see if I can find any others...

Edit: Can't see anything in my first pass. Except for the new Flower Carpet in the Pretty Workbench.

I use something called UniversalUnityDemosaics, which you might search for. It does take working through and setting up, and I can't really guide you there. Isn't perfect either, you have to turn off Interact Glow in the game and even then if you move a placed object it can go green until you save/load.

I just installed this game for the first time, and the uncensored method worked fine. Make sure you did enable view file extensions in your file explorer, and change it from a .txt to .bat. You have to put the .bat in the correct spot as well, it should go 'Mad Island\Mad Island_Data\StreamingAssets\XML'

Well that's extremely spooky.
I downloaded the new (0.4.4.2) version from the GoFile link and it does not contain any files named "none" with either a .bat or .exe extention.

The checksums for the zip from the GoFile is:
SHA1: 8de7f993deace97f59438cbd156b987a3f0908d2
SHA256: 55ae7cfd85e903693ce8c3f0f1c31d277fd108dce5402fc22216f70b1266e067

I've also checked all processes while the game is running and I didn't detect any unusual executables running during or after playtime.

I don't mean to jump to conclusions this soon, but this definitely sounds like malware.
Where did you download your version from? Can you share the checksums for your zip file?
In any case, stay safe out there.

Edit: I completely forgot about the uncensor method that uses a "none.bat" convention, my bad. I made a brief check on the 0.34 version which does contain this file for uncensor purposes. According to the uncensor post on reddit, it should be identical to your "UnityPlayer.dll" file, except for its name and extension. However, the file should be in .bat and not in .exe as you described, so my suspicion about your version being actively malicious still stands.

New to the game. Any early game advice?

The two most valuable skills are Harvest (採集) or Smash (強打).
I suggest raising them first, the others are more subjective and depends on how you want to play.
A fair warning that you can't really de-level skills and Observation (観察) may be more annoying than it's worth.
That skill at higher levels shows age and personalities of enemies you attack and I personally find it to be more of a bloat on the screen than particularly helpful. I recommend saving before you put points in that skill.

Also, bows are really weak early on, especially with the weakest (Branch) arrows which won't even always land where you aim, but the bows don't have a durability and they never break. Since you can also use bows to attack in melee, it could serve as a backup or even main weapon with infinite endurance.

I really don't think it's anything sinister. It was an early misconception that the none.bat should be a particular .DLL that was renamed. "Unityplayer.dll" I think it was. Some still do that. I think that's likely all he's seeing. Fact is the file just has to exist, and the game switches off censorship.

Problem was originally it didn't switch it all off. So other solutions had to be found if you wanted it all gone. Perhaps it's better now, I don't know? Maybe I should remove my demosaic and find out I guess.

I don't mean to sound rude but I never claimed that specific executable is a malicious software at all, nor did I ever mention that program in the post.
I even wrote that there aren't any unusual executables right above that picture.
It's simply part of the screenshot which shows Mad Island and the UnityCrashHandler. The light blue color is a default highlight for immersive processes in the SysInternals toolset.

Oh, sorry, my bad — I’ve just never used this program before.

Don't worry about it.
I actually recommend the SysInternals toolset to an extreme degree if someone uses Windows.
It's one of the best set of programs to manually check for viruses, spyware and anything of the sort. Mostly "ProcessExplorer" and "Autoruns". It's also official and was made by Microsoft so they aren't even third-party programs.
