VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Melody [v1.00 Extras] [MrDots Games]

English is not my native language, but I'll do my best to describe my feelings.

First,I saw this game on pornhub...
I was attracted to the good-looking characters, so I started to play this game.

I spent about 3 days playing through the latest version (v0.07), and now I really want to know the relationship between the MC and Melody.

They were strangers at first, but gradually relied on each other.
Seeing how far they will go and overcome challenges together are the main reasons I play this game.

Though it has good scenario, I think the music and sex scenes leave some room for improvement. Only dialogues and some changes on facial expressions seem to be a little tedious. It would be much better if there's background music.
And their sex finishes too fast, just give you some options and cum, I hope there will be more interactions between MC and other characters when the do something in the bed...

Still, it's a good game, and I am looking forward to the update after a few days!

Being a bit of a musician myself, this game attracted me because of its theme, name, and the gorgeous cover girl and her guitar. Fun fact: I named one of my guitars, Melody.

Being a fan of visual novels, and particularly those that deal with the music world, I had a lot of fun getting to know the main characters, their musical knowledge and influence, and going through the different paths and witnessing the consequences of my choices.

The fact that the main character can pursue other female love interests besides Melody, further increased my interest and immersion, as I love a good drama that comes from the characters engaging in multiple relations. Plus, all characters have gorgeous models and different body types, which increases the probability of satisfying more players.

The lack of background music is the only thing I can really signal as a weakness at this point, but the game is still under development, and we can simply play with other music in the background (preferably, some style related to those present in the game -- classical/jazz/rock).

Recommended to all players who like a good erotic story, drama, musical themes, and gorgeous young girl models.

I love this game, can't wait next chapter! the plot is well built, the protagonists have been studied in depth. I hope there are various endings, the only criticism is that sometimes there are too many dialogues and little action.

- 5/5 Story (The game has a good story. It's not just a "meet-n-fuck-fest" like other games).
- 5/5 Models and Renders (Very good looking girls and lots of different backgroud scenes).
- 3/5 Animations... (Some animations loops are a bit too short and have a weird speed/timing so they feel "robotic". The sex animations so far are a little below the average compared to other similar popular games).

- 4/5 Overall score!
It is a very good game so far, I just hope they can improve the animations a bit!

Loving it so far. Excellent progressive story with a fair amount of content with each update. The characters grow on you, the main character was well thought out and I love the way his back ground unravels as you progress through the story. The story is from my experience quite unique and will leave you wanting more.

One of my all time favorites, beautiful models, great writing, stellar renders, I am really enjoying the story so far, it progresses naturally, and doesn't feel forced, this is another VN done right, very close to perfection, branching choices are well implemented, and I am assuming there will be consequences to some of them further on .
An absolute must play, I cannot recommend it enough .

Great, great game! Top notch story and graphics! I think I like this game more than DMD. Melody is certainly better looking than D, IMO. Like DMD, it's a slow ride to get to deflower Melody but that's part of the fun. Luckily there are other characters to keep you busy!

I have tried quite a few games here and have even liked some.....this game has been one of my favorites. It has quite an engaging story featuring beautiful and varied models, my only critique would be that sometimes the body figure of Melody feels a little bit exaggerated(personal opinion)...still enjoyed it though..

Pros:
-Good animations overall
-Beautiful characters

Cons:
-Too much talking and little action. (play if you like blue balls)
-Bad VN system. You need a walkthough or mod to unlock everything
-Very few scenes available
-Can't replay previous scenes

I just finished version 0.0.6 of the game. Seems like a really low version number considering how much content there is! FYI - I never played the first title in this series so that will obviously impact my overall impressions and review of this game.

Easily one of the Top 5 games on this site. I highly recommend this game if you like a real deep story and meaningful gameplay.

Pros:
- Deep and rich story
- Great writing
- Unique story and characters
- Fully developed story and characters
- Excellent renders and graphics
- Excellent animations
- Characters you get to know and love
- You get to be the good guy for most of the story
- Meaningful sex and intimacy (not a FAP and run game)

Cons:
- Slow story / sex progression. Not really much of a con for me but could be for others who are mostly playing for the sex scenes. Choose a different game if that is your intent!
- Could use more audio. There are plenty of places where it could be added.
- Could use more choices. The player is really only offered choices that don't have a large negative impact in the game. Sometime it feels like the player is being carried through the game (it is sometimes difficult to avoid this in visual novels so this isn't a huge negative). Sometimes I get the feeling like the author should have given me a choice to do this...
- My main gripe with choices is the main one you make in version 0.0.6. You are given the choice to continue your romantic relationship with Melody or just remain great friends. I chose to remain great friends and break off the romantic side of the relationship. I felt like the teacher / student relationship should be respected and I didn't want Amy (Melody's aunt) or Arthur (Melody's step-father) to feel like I took advantage of Melody. The problem is that this choice feels like it was never made and has no impact on the rest of the story. The player continues to kiss Melody on the lips with tongue and takes her out on frequent dates (not involving her lessons or music). There is no way to lock your relationship with Melody like there is with the other girls in the game. I hope the author reads this review and makes some adjustments.

Overall an awesome game and experience! I highly recommend it!

Beautiful models and the game itself in the sense of sad comic, sad.
However. What is the point rating for my decisions? totally meaningless.
There is an apparent attempt to get Melody's heart. 6/10. Why?
You play the whole game on skipping cheeks to see some plot or scene.
Where is the ability to conquer, be surprised to be curious?
The animation is perfect but the spirit and the importance of the action is strongly omitted.
It is better to read an erotic plot than to waste time with this title.
Head up, she just wants to add more emotions to the game.
I can not even count how many times the model changes, how many times it's showering, masturbuje.god.
From the start of the game, a beautiful cat will come to you. Really just fucking free from the start of the game?
It is reasonable to plant it in parts, as in memories. This will create interest and curiosity. I do not care for a psychologist but this is obvious that it wants more interest and imagination, as if.

Melody is a beautiful game in many ways, but is ultimately unsatisfying for two main reasons.

One is the storyline/pacing, where the root of the problem lies in both the MC and Melody being so frustratingly hesitant in their actions, with every single action being a crisis of conscience. Both are whiney and not very interesting characters. Story development then suffers as nothing really happens, except the MC gets to inch a little further into Melody's shirt each time. This sort of storytelling has made "sex with Melody" the final ultimate goal, whereas a better VN would make "sex with Melody" a significant but not final step in the larger story of MC and Melody's relationship .

For example, I like Aunt Amy more than Melody partly from graphics standpoint, but she's also a more interesting character because there's a lot more left to her story even after the MC's had sex with her. That's...way more interesting.

Second, the art/graphics. The backgrounds are lush, but the actual characters are problematic. Reusing renders from other games could be fine if the are good/updated, but all of the female teens still look like they're deep in drugged thought. The posing is always awkward, with the arms almost always at unnatural angles and poses. (Seriously, how often do people pose with their arms akimbo?) I think Amy's the best overall character, but even still her arm posing and wide-eyed/mouthed face can be off-putting.

I know I've come across as negative; there are a lot of good things for game. The themes are good, the game is beautiful (other than the posing), and the points system is useful. I will still play it, but I'm disappointed when I think the pacing and graphics hold it back from being a truly good game.

I expected far more from their second game.There's alot reused assets,poses.
You'd expect with the amount of money these guys make they'd improve/invest more to their the assets and their skill level.
So here's my thought about the version 0.0.6:

1. Assets,textures,models are reused from the previous game.
2. Camera angles is the same and gets boring after awhile
3. World seems empty,on the outside scenes there are no people other than you and the girl(except 1 scene but still).
4. All characters other than Melody are bad,especially in 1 scene Beccas legs seems like a grannys legs,yikes.The freckle texture is soooo low def as is a dozen more assets.
5. Animations are improved by a tiny bit but still meh
6. Characters wear a lot more different clothes than the 1st game which is kinda nice.
7. The only strong point of this game its it story,there are alot different outcomes.

My final thought leaving this is that this game is very highly overrated.
I still like this game but im very dissapointed.

Great game that I look forward to coming out, but the choices are sometimes totally random (song 1 or song 2? pik one of three meals), that lead to you missing out on key events or losing points for no reason. It could do with more plot based and informed choices, so you have an idea where your choices will lead to.

Lots of things seem artificial about this game; the writing quickly gets annoying especially due to the fact the MC is a wimp, specialy in his monologues. There are some interesting events in the game and enjoyable as well, but sometimes the scenes get lenghty with worthless dialogues.

The girl personalities are ok in most part, renders are ok as well, but most of them look like dolls; also animations suck.

It may get better in the future, at the moment (0.6 release), its way too slow paced.

Before I began this game I thought it was just another case of Patreon stifling another artist with their ridiculous rules. I have seen many one hit wonder creators, who once was forced to make new content under new rules, their ability went to crap. But I have to say MrDots is not one of these creators. When Patreon forced him to stop using their service to gain support for DMD, many of us felt lost. But then Melody came out. I went in not expecting it to be at the same level as DMD, but I was surprised. MrDots captured lightening a second time with this game. The writing is very well done, with the characters feeling extremely down to earth. While yes is has some adult scenes is journeys beyond that. It speaks to the old homage, it is darkest before the dawn. And dawn it did, in this musically themed story about love, loss, and the will to find your own happiness, no matter the distance. There are many shout outs to famous artists and bands with a parody twist. But even if music isn't your thing, any time you invest in this game is worth it. Just remember everything happens for a reason. In summary, definitely a 5 out of 5 stars for another MrDots masterpiece.

I really tried to give this a try in the hopes he had developed a new style but was deeply unsatisfied.

MrDots starts to become the figurehead for underaged characters with no backbone at all and forces the player into a constantly whining and self-doubting main character who challenges his own decisions over and over again. Dating my daughter was getting on my nerves with that after the first few days and Melody proves to be an exact copy of the same gruesome style.

Nice DAZ setups can not overcome a really badly constructed storyline thus my really low rating.

unless you're into some really weird s*** this is probably the best game on this site, one that actually deserves to be supported on patreon imo

for starters the 3D models are terrific, the story is also amazingly well written and not just "blablabla *sex scene* blablabla *sex scene*" and new episodes have actual content in them.. not just 20 more minutes of game-play like many other games.

the dev has done insanely well so far.. i don't think i've played many games including AAA sfw titles where i did not find any aspect that could have been better... this is the "The Witcher 3" of NSFW games

-This update has a great game playing length.
-The renders reminds me of Dating my Daughter
-The Sex scenes are nice
-Never know what happens next

Cons:
Could use a little more interaction with the other characters

Overall a very nice update, that takes more then just a couple of minutes to play, compared to other updates that are posted here.
