I bought the game on Steam after playing it a bit from the free version. Love it
If you are talking about the pixel art and not the 2D portraits, both devs use some same common use assets, as far as I know.

Yeah, I used store assets for the portraits although some of the faces are commissioned.
i wonder why i got a massive fps drop on open areas? (areas that have a lot of NPCs)

Who has played the game a lot, can you tell me how best to start? Which gender, background, and faction should I choose? To get maximum content, because I already tried the game once, but I didn't get much content and didn't go any further. I'm also interested in getting a brief description of the factions, if that's not difficult for you.

The character backgrounds at the beginning is mainly for story flavor purposes for your MC so pick what resonates best with you. Gender is also more your choice though there is more M/F content than F/M. Personally i mainly play a melee Shaper build. As far as Factions go
Old Watch: in simple terms these guys are vigilantes fighting for the people in a sense
The Board: this faction is just the local mega corps and politicians controlling the government
Travelers Mandate: Secret Organization made for watching over anomalies and the abyss ( i think, still piecing together the lore)
Iron Cartel: Bunch of thugs with a charismatic crazy leader that abuses and extorts the local populace
Stormbreakers: mercenary group with ties to the Imperial army
Shaper Cults: Groups of shapers that are worship the bluehaired super powerful lady (again i think)
This is just a rough breakdown of the factions

Are there cutoff points? I was doing some quests for stormbreaker and it reached a point where she asks me to side with her. I assume this means I lose iron cartel but does it do anything else for the other factions?
Before I go too far tho is it smarter to stack stats in character creation? Seems getting 4+ in one stat is better than spreading it out since I can just buy staff for the 2~ stats.

based on what i remember you want all stats around 3 or 4. Usually you would pick a stat based on your RP style like PHYS for a head on approach or TEC for a more hacker style. There are multiple approaches to the main missions. As far as cutoffs, there is one for stormbreakers and Iron cartel but they kinda let you know before hand. I always max both to the end point then make my decision.

Thanks, it was fine anyway because I was assuming the staff only leveled you to the staff level. Didn't realize it was an extra add on top of other stuff.
