On the 19th Mesh Grabber was released for ds. It's a bit expensive but available at the usual places. I have to say.. it is what daz has been missing. Im hoping they buy out the programmer and include it in the core of daz. No more weird morphs or shuttling obj's between programs etc. No more weight map nuttiness trying to make a pillow deform. If you dont have it get it.

Tip: the installer wont work you need the dll

How actually useful is it? Will most people find it useful?

I didn't post it because I was unsure if F95zone members would use it...

Oh, and as a reminder, ANY member can create asset release threads to share with other members.

Let's say you have that girl with a skirt sitting on that chair. Bad luck, the skirt is clipping trought the chair. You try to correct it with various solutions, correcting the pose, using a Dformer, adding smooth modifier, trying with Dforce, or playing with morphs or importing new one (like fit control).

Now with mesh grabber, you can just select a bunch of polygones and move them, bam done, simple as that.

Please check the installation instructions to make sure I got right. Thanks for the help!

Should be alright.

(The problem with any plugin.exe is that it won't find the correct Daz path if you don't have a fresh Daz vanilla install. So I have to install it on another computer, collect the installed DLL & docs and merge it on my main PC everytime. I didn't find a way to force a correct path yet, registry didn't help at all, I don't know where they are stocked )

What version of Daz does this work on? The Daz site lists Daz Studios 4.12 as the compatible software. I'm still on Daz 4.10 but I don't see it listed in my tools. I dropped both the docs and plugins folders into my Daz asset folder. I'm still using various g3 models in my game and already having issues with skin tones in 4.10 so I'm leery about updating.

It's really a great utility that allows us to overcome some of the usual difficulties that we creators may encounter; it will undoubtedly be of great help :D

But... does anyone know how to restore the "mesh" to its normal state?
I mean, sometimes it's used at a specific moment for a pose but then one wants to continue with the set-up of the next scene starting from the previous one, where the modification has been applied in the mesh, but that modification is no longer valid for the following scenes... it isn't very efficient to have to load the file again without the modification in order to continue creating scenes :p

Bro, don't even know why it's not a core Daz feature. They should hire ManFriday at this point.

Dll & Docs for custom/multiple daz install
daz has improved very little in the past 8-10 years, if not at all.. it is still a complete disaster for new users.. all the core problems (with smart content, installing and "finding" content, categorizing and so on..) are still there.. you still need tutorials on how to make stuff amde for G3 to work on G8, which is nothing short of retarded. it's also a true shame how daz could not utilize any of Python's capabilities for so long, which is an extremely intuitive programming/language (used in creating daz). daz appears to be a dead app, cashing only on 3d parties' sales, waiting to be replaced by just anyone..
